Charges incorrectly twice. Decides to tell me I’m wrong. Shows up on credit card twice. Don’t bother. Go elsewhere.

Wow I am bit surprised to read these unfavorable reviews. I cant speak to the grocery aspect but the deli has not disappointed me yet. The sandwiches are slightly pricier than your average deli but they are tasty, rather large sandwiches and the cooks seem open to creating whatever kind of sandwich you desire. The salad here is pretty decent too. I found the ingredients fresh. Nothing mind blowing but of all the delis I have tried in the area, this is the best yet.

I feel bad talking so negatively but I’m seriously livid. Last time tuna had peppers, this time it had traces of teeny tiny pickles. I couldn’t even eat the tuna sandwich because I despise pickles. Please stop putting random sh! t in your food!!! What if people are allergic! The only thing that goes in tuna is celery and/or carrots. Ugh. I’m getting my sandwiches elsewhere from now on.

If you like being ripped off and treated rudely this is the place for you! Too many times I have bought ice cream from Apple Tree only to discover when I got home that it had been melted and refrozen. After the sixth or seventh time of this happening, I decided never to buy ice cream from there again. My partner, however, did. When we brought it back looking for a refund they told us they never have any problems with their freezer and then went on to accuse us of trying to pass off another store’s melted ice cream on them. Rude. Save yourself the aggravation and shop elsewhere.

It’s right across the street from where I work, so it’s my go-to spot for lunch if I’m feeling lazy or not up to walking to a better place like Strokos or West Side. Decent salad bar, they have some nice add-ins like tofu and avocado. The hot bar always looks good, though I haven’t personally tried it. They have a good selection of drinks and a decent grocery section if you need to pick up one or two things. It’s fine.

I give this place 3 stars only because of their lack of attention to what they are doing. I order from this place wayy more than I should, and the food is great! But almost everytime I order they are getting wrong. Now I’m a plain Jane kinda girl. So my orders aren’t that hard. Last time I ordered 2 jack Jacks. I only wanted hot sauce on one and they still put it on both sandwhiches. And this morning all I ordered was a Bacon egg and cheese w| SALT&PEPPER and a strawberry parfait. Nowhere on the ticket it said to add ketchup. So I would just appreciate it if they payed more attention to detail.

A near-by shopping place. But things there are generally more expensive except for kiwi. Only go to Apple Tree when feeling lazy haha.

Some foods in the deli seem to be put out from earlier days in the week. The meatballs, chicken salads, tuna salads, and hot wings are ALWAYS kept for WAAAAY too long, none of the things I just mentioned are ever fresh! Subway subs are much more fresh and the bread is not stale either. You can just look at them and just tell they had them for a whole week! Gross. The store in general is your average grocery store. Nothing, fancy, very small walk-ways, when it’s crowded it’s always a TIGHT squeeze to walk by people. Store staff are consistently stereotyping and talking about customers in Spanish(People know what you guys are saying!). I only shop here occasionally when I am in need because it’s barely minimally acceptable and directly across the street from Whittier Hall at Columbia and as a student I don’t have much time to travel else where. STEREO-TYPING/RACIAL PROFILING: I was asked if I had cash to instead of a card to purchase my items when I first started shopping there. I use my card anyway. I was constantly stared at and stalked in that store by their workers, even though I was their best customer!

delicious sandwiches, has EVERYTHING even school supplies, moderately priced but priced as expected for NYC. I love the All-American sandwich– chicken salad with bacon on toasted, white grinder. Delicious! plenty of drink supplies, candies, and fruits.(and liquor for those of-age).

I’m a Columbia grad student who comes to apple tree often. However I will NEVER be back and I’ll be sure to tell my colleagues not to either after tonight. Who ever the Latina girl is with blonde hair and an eyebrow piercing should be FIRED! She was incredibly rude to an Asian student who didn’t speak much English. Then was very rude to me! I don’t feel like going into detail because I’m so upset but I hope she sees this review and does better! Jerk!

The owners drive their Jag in from New Jersey and you feel like they are trying to pay it off by selling lower quality food for high quality prices. They can do this because it’s the only market in the area and they have a monopoly. Positives: has everything you need. Open 24 hours. Negatives: Overpriced. 1) They get Grade 2 produce and sell it as Grade 1. In other words, your paying Food Museum prices for not-great quality(watch out for moldy strawberries if they’re on sale, crinkled tomatoes, 99 cent ordinary bananas not organic); 2) meats are SOOVERPRICED that often they sit too long and are spoiled when you do break down and buy some(ordinary chuck steak that is too tough for anything but pot roast goes at almost $ 8 per pound – shameful; Italian sausage at $ 6 per pound and once again I bought some to make a quick dinner, they were SLIMY); 3) Deli has lots of stuff, but it’s very ordinary food for upscale-market prices. The specialty cheese case like many other areas of the store is not so exciting and then priced too high. So the cheeses are over ripe when you do buy them.

Pretty much the priciest corner store in the area. It’s in a great spot if you are a CU student or just need something small, but if you can wait, definitely do that because the prices are super high. Especially beer. come on. $ 156 packs?

There is a picture on the side of this store, of a tree with a cat sitting underneath it, staring at an apple. For two years, I haven’t been able to figure out why a cat wants to stare at an apple. The workers are very nice here, but everything is overpriced. The meat selection is tiny. Their hot sandwiches are good. Their pre-packaged salads are fair and or hit or miss. Or okay or miss. You can order an amazing choose-your-own-destiny salad for $ 14ish: arugula, blueberries, walnuts, the yummiest. Bags of frozen mango chunks are millions of dollars. As are the frozen blueberries. They have a good Amy’s selection, some lightbulbs, toilet paper, glue traps, paleo ice cream, Quest bars and Gin Gins.

I’m a regular here for lunch as it’s close to my office, and it never disappoints. I highly recommend their salad bar — it has so many choices and everything is super fresh! They have unique options like pesto chicken, chipotle chicken and baked salmon, which I don’t usually see in salad bars and gives you the opportunity to switch up your order. Also, somewhat random but their roasted red peppers are on POINT. This spot is a combination between a supermarket and a deli, so there’s pretty much anything you could want or need. Go if you haven’t already!

I work next door and it is very convenient to be able to pop in whenever and grab the basics. sandwiches and subs are pretty delicious, salad bar is pretty bomb and they have a decent selection of natural and organic products. their produce section seems to be somewhat hit or miss and they’re not your go-to for organic fresh foods. it’s a normal deli but nicer because it’s in columbia’s hood, and also very crowded at lunch time. moderately priced for this area and I can count on them for lunch once in a blue moon. lentil soup – very bland, couldn’t finish. and yet, the split pea they make isn’t horrible. but try a jack jack if you feel like a sandwich, iced coffee is total crap, but it’s cheap and. next door. the prepared foods section is pretty good. you can grab a bland penne vodka or a caprese or quinoa salad… there’s definitely some variety in this small store. check it out if you’re in the area and need a snack

Insanely overpriced! There’s a $ 5 minimum on cards, which I didn’t know for a while. I guess they just started implementing it because I would only charge a coffee and muffin on most days. When the cashier told me I left my items and walked out. Another day I purchased a wrap that costs nears $ 8, and it didn’t even fill me up. The only purchase I will make from here is their coffee.

NEVER come here unless you are too lazy to walk the 2 blocks to the Met or are independently wealthy. Crooks, that’s what these guys are. My husband and I have seen the cashiers try to overcharge people on numerous occasions. Not one time, but two times, we watched while the cashiers tried to charge people double for a gallon of milk. Also, the way the register is set up, you don’t know what they’re charging you until the transaction has come through. STAYAWAY from this place. The MET offers. 10% student discount, lower prices, and an honestly set up cashier system. Go there instead. Your wallet will thank you for it.

They say they’re open 24⁄7 and they truly are. Through countless blizzards, hurricanes, and anything else that caused all the other establishments to close down, Apple Tree has always been open. With that being said, how can I really give this establishment any less than 4 stars?! They have a great variety of grocery items, wines, beers, a deli, and much more. The prices are definitely much higher than other stores but in the end I’m willing to cough up more for the convenience of it all. I will state though that the deli food alone would get two stars at most for me as the salads are ridiculously pricey and the sandwiches have been very dry and bland. If you live nearby, it’s 2am in the middle of a blizzard, and are need garbage bags or ground beef or cat food or anything else, chances are Apple Tree will carry it and is open.

This place uses deceptive pricing with the goal of ripping off Columbia students and locals. For example, they charged me $ 5.09 for a two pack of bounty paper towels, and in the same transaction $ 2.09 for one bounty paper towel. When I pointed it out to them they refused to refund me, saying that the«manager was out.» Overall, their pricing is very high across the board and service lacking. Would only go here based on convenience(open 24⁄7), but even then, recommend other places nearby. This is one of the worst grocery/corner store experiences in my entire life. Would not recommend.
