There is, without a doubt, not a single deli in the area that compares to this place. This place is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It was open throughout the entirety of the Hurricane Sandy blackout(yes, in the dark), and I’m sure it’ll somehow manage to stay open through the next natural catastrophe that hits our fine borough. Other reviews stating it’s expensive — definitely not as bad as some of the other places in the area. Compare it to some of the other spots in the neighborhood –Hudson and Charles, Washington and Horatio, or down the block from Two Boots on Greenwich — and you’ll find this place actually sits on the more reasonable side of things. Candy bars recently went up to 1.25, something I do lament, but you can still get a tallboy of domestic beer for less than 2 bucks! The deli counter sees so much play that you never have to worry about the freshness of their ingredients, and the guys who man the counter are all incredibly warm and helpful — be it Umberto, Milad, or Phillipe, you’re almost guaranteed to have a good experience here. In fact, I’ve been getting the same sandwich here, a couple times a week, for almost 7 years — ask for ‘the matt’ — Grilled Chicken, Fresh Mozzarella, Avocado, Cucumber, Lettuce, and Alfafa Sprouts, on a toasted roll or hero with mayo, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. 6.99! Expensive? I think not. A really great deli that has proved itself a reliable asset in my ever-changing neighborhood. OHANDTHEIRAVOCADOSARETHEBIGGESTANDFRESHESTAVOCADOSIN A 10BLOCKRADIUS. Expensive, perhaps. But they deliver firewood and beer to my third floor walkup! The delivery guys are always friendly and they’re open 24⁄7. It’s a really well-run business and I appreciate having them in the ‘hood.

I was a regular customer here until today when this cashier refused to accept my 5 dollar bill because it had a slight tear in the corner. From what I know, my bill was still legal tender. The cashier refused it, saying people would not want it in their change. She could have accepted it, put it aside. The bank will definitely accept it. So now this deli has lost my business permanently because of a bad call by a cashier.

We often change buses in front of this market after seeing plays on Saturday nights and it’s a good place to grab some food late in the evening(it’s open 24 hours/day). The prices are high, but you’re paying for the convenience and the hours. It’s very clean and they also have a deli section. Lots of friendly and good-looking youngish men walking large dogs patronize this store, just fyi.
