10th Ave Wines and Liquors

Won’t order from them again. I wanted to give them another shot, especially since I saw their selection increased on
. Turns out they’re just adding liquors they don’t stock.
Received a call shortly after placing my order. They don’t even carry one of the items in my order (so why did you list it?). I didn’t want the option they offered, or anything else I saw listed in that category of liquor. The lady was nice, again, and offered to give me a slightly more expensive (albeit no where near as good quality) option for no additional cost… though asked me to handle the bill adjustment.
Lastly, when I get my delivery, they didn’t put any cardboard or paper bag buffer between the bottles. They were just tossed in the bag, to clank, in hopes they wouldn’t break.
I’ve only ever tried them as an option for items I can’t easily find elsewhere. But they don’t carry what they list as available. So I’m done. I’m sure they offer a nice experience if you go in the store. But I’d be hard pressed to try even that option for myself.

Only wine store in the neighborhood open til midnight. Enough said.

I love going to this liquor store. The gentleman that works the floor there is AMAZING at helping you select a wine if you’re someone like me that is not too sure what i’m looking for when it comes to wines. Even better though? He doesn’t hustle you. I hate feeling hustled into buying something just because they’re trying to make as much money off of you as possible. This was absolutely not the case. He doesn’t pressure you to buy anything. And he always suggests reasonably priced selections. This time around I got an organic Malbec — «Famiglia Bianchi» — that he suggested, and it was fantastic! The service is unparalleled to any other liquor stores around the area. Highly recommended if you’re the type that likes quality customer service. Says a lot about the place and the people that run the store.

Well, that was interesting for sure.
I can’t say my experience started off poorly the gentleman I talk to over the phone seemed nice and attentive when I called to place my order.
He was even nice and professional when I had to remove one of the bottles I found I already had at home. Which I’m sure is a bit of a pain in the ass.
This is when things get messy. Instead of going into the computer and reprinting the check… like I would assume all businesses would do for clarity. He scribbled a couple of numbers over the receipt and sent the order out for delivery. I did quick math in my head and determined he may or may not have removed that bottle’s portion of the tax. I’m still not sure if he did or didn’t, but at this point it doesn’t matter.
I tipped his delivery guy two bucks and told him I believed some of the remaining bill would be different when he goes back to the store and the tax and bill are correctly calculated. The delivery boy was happy and there were no issues.
Until of course I get a phone call from the guy at the liquor store who proceeded to give me a lecture about the New York State tax policies. LOL. I wish I was kidding, but I’m not. He’s rambling different numbers at me like I am an accountant going through a tax audit. Followed by him hanging up on me.
This is New York City there are 50 million options to buy alcohol. I look forward to using my right to not deal with drama.

Great for hard liquors, not so good for wine.
I went in here looking for the huge 1.75 liter Patron since we were getting it for a friend for his birthday. They said they had it on their website so I made the trek.
They didn’t have it and the man at the counter tried to sell me two small bottles since «they would be the same price».
Same price but different amounts of liquor, my friend.

I got an advertisement in the mail about a year ago and after having a bad experience at another store I decided to give this store a try. Success! The sales people are very nice and they’re pricing is quite competitive.
They have a frequent customer program, but they never ask for the account information when checking out (and I forget to tell them).
Great place.

Since the store opened they have gotten rid of the boxes scattered around, decorated quite nicely, and of course gotten fridges to keep items cold. Phew! I thought it was just a sign of the economic times that this store was oddly empty and extremely simple the first time I went in!

I was a bit skeptical at first, as I usually fear the pricing in a small liquor store such as this.
GOOD NEWS! Their wine prices are rather competitive!
The Good: They had some decent sherry and ports available. The lady that was there was very nice and offered her assistance and told us how there would be monthly wine tastings (sign me up!). I liked the wooden shelves and hardwood floors. It gave the shop a nice clean feel. Their more mainstream rums and vodkas weren’t horribly overpriced and I would definitely shop there if I needed the hard stuff in a pinch.
The Bad: However, the curse of a small liquor store was apparent when it came to the pricing of the actual liquor. Ouch. $ 25.99 for a 750mL bottle of D’Sarrono? Nope.
All in all, it’s great having a little local shop to go to in addition to the 54 Wine & Liquors just up the street.

This place just opened… Damn it, I wanted to be the first person to review this place — but apparently someone else beat me to it by mere minutes!
Yesterday I woke up from a mid-​day nap craving goat cheese and oysters, and that can only mean one thing — Sancerre! Or, I suppose Sauvignon Blanc, but that’s just not what I was in the mood for… And then, of course, I had to take into consideration my post-​party drinking later in the evening, so I knew in advance I wanted a bottle of Meursault — it was just that kind of day.
I came here, went back home, got drunk, barely ate anything, and went to a party/​concert in Brooklyn and forgot to write my review of this brand new shop. Oops.
I tried speaking to three of the men working at the store, none of them know very much about wine, but they are very happy and enthusiastic about their new business, as they very well should be – it’s a nice place, hopefully soon they’ll remove all those boxes and replace them with refrigerators and will finally get around to putting price tags on everything. Thankfully the prices are decent.
