A 24hr deli that won’t make a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll at 5am because it is too early, is hardly a New York deli.

The food was not bad… But the prices always different and I ordered the same thing!!! I have no idea why they keep changing the price…

This place has some CHEAP sandwiches but let me warn you that this place is a dive! Tastes great but its DIRTY! Fly’s in the deli case and people still eat here! I guess that says it all.

As far as I stand, this has got to be the best deli in the neighborhood. The coffee has more flavor than others, and the sandwiches are nice and messy. Usually teeming with teamsters and other union workers; its not Italian or Jewish or Irish, but it is a true NY deli.

Another bodega/deli in Hell’s Kitchen. This place offers a better range of household supplies and staples than their competition across the street, but I don’t like their sandwiches as much. All in all, a decent bodega that has what you need, 24⁄7. NOTE: NOBEER!

Hunger comes to cease here. With all their sandwiches at about $ 7 and packed, overpaying for deli sandwiches comes to R.I.P here as well. United is completely unassuming standing quietly on the outer skirts of Hell’s Kitchen, with most of its patrons drawing from the residents in the area. Though I don’t live here, I do go to church in the area and need to get my grub on after service and before basketball(yes, at church) without paying much and using as little time as possible. The selection is strong and you really won’t grow wrong with anything here. I love the salami, turkey, and pastrami heroes. Descriptive, I know, but just go check out their menu. Their MASH soda is $ 1.75 here. I also bought a pair of socks here as well for $ 2. I won’t do it again.

I used to walk home from«The Rambles»(a party at The Park, on 10th Avenue) on Sunday Nights /Monday mornings, and would stop in here fairly frequently for a pack of cheap cookies or an egg sandwich… Between 17th street and 94th street(and West End Avenue), this was my deli of choice time and time again. Recently, I’ve been exploring the bodegas of 10th avenue before bedtime, it’s a little bit of adventure not too far away… And, once again, a few years later, somehow, this place still stands out. The service is extremely friendly, like really super-duper friendly… There’s a decent selection of fresh produce and breads and beverages and canned food and toiletries — all at decent prices, and the store is really clean and well-lit… The only shortcoming I can find: they don’t sell alcohol, so that means I can’t brown-bag it on my walk home with my late night sandwiches — which, by the way, they do very well here.

One of the friendlier delis in the area. You can take as much time as you like, and they won’t give you an odd look. Spot on for its selection of beverages, including the elusive coconut milk in the can.

Here in New York, your local bodega, deli, corner store, whatever you want to call it, is, much like your laundromat or dry cleaners, most often chosen based on proximity and not much else. There is literally one every two to three blocks, and most of them are pretty much identical. It’s open 24 hours, there’s a sandwich bar, there’s lots of sundries and snacks, cigarettes and things like laundry detergent and toilet paper for those late night emergencies. This is my bodega. But the United We Stand Deli deserves a review for two reasons. One, it’s called The United We Stand Deli, which is just awesome for so many reasons(although the true brilliance of this title is really only appreciated by my former roommate, myself, and anyone who worked at Galveston Outdoor Musicals in the summer of 2002). The second is for the #38 sandwich, which, in the absence of any good pizza within a two block radius of my apartment, has become my late-night go-to snack. Go get one, it’s amazing, and it only costs $ 5.50. God Bless America.
