They get some good music here but it isn’t as much fun and its far smaller as compared to the YLC Wednesday on the Square. They have a small selection of vendors to get food and drinks from. Parking is easy and you can also take the ferry for a nice visit. My only complaints are that there is no shade so you are in the sun the whole time and the beers are bit too expensive.

Festivals are abundance in NOLA and Wednesdays on the point is no exception. This event held during the summer months is located right next to the Algiers-Canal street ferry terminal in the low area. Low area meaning there will be flooding and mud and bugs. Bring a chair and find a dry spot to enjoy the music and sunset. Food booths are great. This year they have a Korean booth with yakisoba and yakiniku po-boy. Buying beer at this event requires a ticket. Good luck finding the ticket booth. A great event to support the local community just be sure to bring bug spray and leave before it gets dark.

Amazing depending on company and the live band. Food and drinks are a great value. If you are coming from the city it would definitely be worth the ferry ride over to enjoy a live show and festival atmosphere.

Wednesdays at the point is a fabulous little music series in Algiers that never disappoints. I like that it goes later than Wednesdays in the square so I can actually make it after work, and the drinks are more reasonably priced. Being able to enjoy the NOLA skyline on the free ferry ride back is just the cherry on top! You’ll get to enjoy local acts like Amanda Shaw, Brass-A-Holics, and the Wild Magnolias while sitting in the grass or dancing near the stage. There is PLENTY of room to spread out, it’s never overcrowded. Possibly my favorite music series in NOLA.

In the summer, during the break between the Fall v. Spring Wednesdays at the Square, you can ride the Algiers ferry over for Wednesdays on the Point. Take your dog — the ferry’s dog friendly, as is the concert. The Algiers Economic Development Assoc. coordinates the weekly shows, which are sponsored by various local businesses. They’re often at the ferry landing, but they can also be elsewhere within walking distance. They have great local musicians, and it’s more laid back and less see-and-be-seen than the sister Wednesday concerts in the middle of the big-lawyer-buildings at Lafayette Square. (Wed. at the Square is still cool too — it’s just gotten so big. And crowded. And professionals-talking-the-talk-and-networking. It’s hard to find and meet up with your friends and just hang out any more.) Also, Algier’s Point is just cute, and worth the boat trip to ride your bike around or take your dog for a walk.
