Shik Do Rak is the ultimate Korean BBQ joint in my opinion. As soon as you step in the restaurant, everything about it feels authentic. They don’t try to «Americanize» it one bit. Hubby and I love this place. The waitresses are always on point, constantly checking up on us and making sure that nothing gets burned. Food comes out super fast. We love the standard onions and mushrooms on top of the grill that goes along with the meat. We like to grill the garlic and jalapeños too. Then pile it all on the rice paper and the complimentary salad and add the spicy sauce. Then take one giant, delicious bite!

My family and I love to go here for Korean food. I love the rice wraps they give you and they love the salad that comes with the Korean bbq. This place is always filled with people, and you leave smelling like a yummy Korean bbq place. The cold noodle is fantastic. I love the seafood pancake here, and the sauce that comes with it is so good I sometimes try to as for it even if I don’t order the seafood pancake. I’m a big fan of the roe soup. Whenever we come here we eat until we are sooo stuffed. I really like the staff here too, their English is not very good but they are extremely friendly and always smiling. I like places with a happy staff.

First off it’s hard to find an excellent Korean restaurant in the valley. There really aren’t non. You have to go to K town for really good K food. Well since I can’t drive down to K town every time I’m craving K food, the only place I go to in the valley is Shikdorak. The food is great here, all the bbq meat is great here. Never had a bad experience… We got to know some of the servers so they know our faces. They are all very friendly. One thing you have to remember about K restaurants is not like your traditional restaurant where the server keeps on checking on your table. In most K places you have to flag me down if you need anything. I’ve tried mostly everything here from the cold noodles to the meats. I also order the bean paste soup every time I’m there. it’s one of my fav. Anyways. if you are in the valley and craving K food, you must come here. Also this place is a chain and there is one in LA.

I came here with a family friend to lunch. The food here was insane! Simply delish & lots & lots of foodgasms. The banchan was immensely wonderful! Service was spot on. I savored every bite of my meal. Many leftovers were taken home for future meals. This will definitely be on my list for Korean bbq.

Had dolsot with calamaris. It was super hot and very tasty. I couldn’t see much of calamaris, cause they were buried under the vege mountain. My friends had grilled fish and vege dolsot. They were happy. Loved their fresh banchans. Kimchee was good. Soybean namul was good also. Forgot to ask crab and old kimchee. Sad.

The food is good. The service is poor. Decidedly below average. Reluctant. Like pulling teeth. Gotta ask for every little thing. Then, after asking, whatever you’ve asked for will only be brought to you begrudgingly, and in its own leisurely time at that. You’re made to feel like you’re asking too much., You soon become reluctant to ask for shit. You don’t feel as comfortable as you’d like to be when eating. The food starts being harder to swallow. The service makes returning here unequivocally not worth it. The food is good, but it is nowhere near good enough to compensate for the discomfort of having to deal with the unpleasant service. Tried twice, but will not be returning.

The few times that we’ve been here, we’ve left the restaurant pretty content. So it means the food is good. And we will be back.

This place is not all you can eat, but the quality of their food is GREAT. Even their side dishes are amazing. This place is authentic Korean… unlike Gen which is across the street. Service is good and fast, big portions, and just generally a real Korean bbq place I can sit down and enjoy my meal.

Expect this place to be normally packed but the food is pretty good and worth the wait if you have to. My only complaint is that the waitresses don’t always pay attention because they get so busy with everyone else’s orders and forget to come back to you with what you requested. We asked for extra napkins 3 different times and she said«yes ok» at each return. She came back every single time without it and we kept having to ask again. It was weird. But for those who want to know if we ever did get those napkins… we did eventually… right when we got up to leave at the very end.

I should say, this is the best Korean BBQ in Northridge-Porter Ranch area. But why am I giving only 3 stars?! Here’s my Pros and Cons: Pros: 1. Their meat is okay for the price. I shall say, it’s better compared to Fresh KBBQ in White Oak and Sherman Way and other kBBQ in the valley. 2. Side dishes are pretty good! I love their pickled spicy radish and their fish cakes. 3. Good Tofu soup.(But still nothing compared to BCD) 4. I don’t know how they cook their rice but it’s so moist and looks pretty Cons: 1. Slow service but always in a hurry to give your check(even if you’re only halfway eating your meal) 2. Half of the staff looks always stressed. Most of the time they keep forgetting our requests 3. Our orders doesn’t come in a timely manner. Example, if I order a tofu soup the same time I order the meat for the BBQ, the tofu arrives so late. As in, we are literally almost done eating. 4. The amount of meat varies randomly. Sometimes, we would get the right amount of meat, and sometimes I feel like they are mad at us for some reason because it seems less. 5. They always try to seat us where we are almost elbowing each other. We have to keep requesting to move to a bigger table. 6. Vents are not that good. Be prepared to smell when you leave this place. 7. They serve slices of Oranges at the end of the meal… once in a blue moon.

My favorite Korean bbq restaurant in the valley. The side dishes are plentiful. The meat is always good quality. It’s not cheap but not unaffordable. For lunch, they have a deal for about $ 25 which includes brisket and another meat of your choice. It comes with bean paste soup and all the side dishes. I’d say it can feed 3 women. I love their cold buckwheat noodles too. That’s my usual go to place for naengmyun. It’s about 8 or 9 bucks during their lunchtime. Be sure to ask for fermented radish slices(moo ssam) for your ddok bossam! Adds a refreshing, sweet flavor to your meaty bite :)

This is my go to spot for kbbq in the valley. Although it is not all you can eat, you definitely get a lot for the price. The food quality is higher than most spots and the amount of kimchi is amazing. They do rush you when they are busy which makes sense but the customer service is there due to the fact all the servers help each other out . I would securely recommend this spot to people looking for some great bbq. Get the beef brisket and bulgogi you won’t go wrong

I used to go to BCD tofu house but after recent disappointment I decide to try something else. I liked the food at Shik Do Rak, service is way better here and the food is great as well. My favorite here is their seafood pancake. It’s very delicious and rich and price fair. Overall I like it here and will definitely come back again.

Shik Do Rak is one of my favorite places to eat in the valley. I usually come here to grill up some KBBQ, but their Neng Myun(buckwheat noodles in a chilled beef broth) is amazing! I LOVEEE their Dduk bo saam(thinly sliced rice cake) and wrapping it around a hot piece of meat that’s fresh off the grill and dipping it into that HOTSAUCE. Ooooo dat hot sauwce doe… The only reason I gave this place four stars is because their service lacks the attention and quality. These ladies shouldn’t make it seem like it’s a chore to being me more kimchi or Dduk and I should be waiving around like a lunatic trying to get someone’s attention. Nevertheless I’ll put up with it cause I love you.

I can’t believe a pay so much for this but it’s worth every dime. Usual bill is around $ 50 for two people plus tax and tip. We get the thin and thick beef, it comes with tons of yummy sides, like soup and salad and Kim chi and sprouts and garlic and onions and mushrooms… I could keep going on and on. I love to wrap my meat in rice paper with a little salad a slice of raw garlic and then dip it in the homemade hotsauce! Yummy! The best hotsauce around! If anyone knows the recipe I want it. :) I highly recommend Shik Do Rak. We also love the name because we are fans of «The Catherine Tate Show» and every time we go we say, «Shik…Do…Rak. an this is on Devonshire.» ;-p

My favorite place to get kbbq from ! I’ve never actually eaten there LOL but when I’m craving it I always order the bulgogi to go. It’s a huge portion with a side box of banchan, sticky rice, & rice paper. It never disappoints & makes good for a second meal the next day. Everyone is always friendly when I come in to pick up my order ! It’s a little on the pricey side but it’s well worth it.

This is my favorite KBBQ place in the SFV. Its not all-you-can eat, but the combo prices are pretty reasonable and very very filling. I love the briskets and don’t really care for the other meat options that much. Their spicy sauce is SOGOOD. I wish they would sell it in a bottle for the public. I tried to make it at home once, but it wasn’t the same. I need to know their recipe! I would say for two people you will end up spending a total of $ 45 to $ 65. Parking is plentiful in the lot. The wait some times can be 15 – 20 minutes depending on how busy they get. I don’t know if they close earlier on weeknights, but it looked like they were cleaning up by 9:15 the last time I was there on a Thursday night.

After calling nearly every KBBQ place in K Town for a rezie, with no such luck, we decided to go tried and true and head to Northridge for Shik Do Rak. They did no disappoint. The brisket is my favorite thing on the menu, and we got a combo that included 3 kinds of meat and it was more than enough for 4 people. I love all the sides they include with your order! We were stuffed. It came to about $ 28 per person and it was well worth it. If you don’t want to venture far but have a craving, come here next time!

After my hubs and I returned from Moorea, my parents were nice enough to pick us up and take us to lunch at SDR. You can never be disappointed by Korean BBQ restaurant with the speediness of the service and what I appreciate a lot more, ever since I’ve experienced what the Korean restaurants in Michigan charge and offer, is the amount of food you get for what you pay. SDR is located next to a car wash on the corner of Reseda and Devonshire st. and conveniently across the Galleria Market and is only open for lunch and dinner. My parents were a little shocked at how much the prices went up and was told that since the cost of meat has gone up over the past months, they had to raise the prices. The quantity of the meat seemed to have gotten smaller with the price change and the quality as well. We ordered one of the combos that came with chadol-beef brisket and dae-ji bulgogi-spicy marinated pork, that also comes with doenjang chiggae –soybean paste soup and rice. We also ordered yukgaejang– spicy beef soup and split that four ways. I would say the whole meal was more than enough for the four of us. Once your seated, the waitresses will bring you ice water or hot water and soon after, banchan and two different types of dipping sauce for the meats. One is a sesame oil base with salt and pepper the other one is a soybean paste base. And if you ever need refills on the banchan or sauces, they are quick to get you more. I would definitely come back and stick with the chadol-a couple orders of it and the yukgaejang… which is a perfect soup to have on a cold day or night!

So I guess for the western side of the Valley, this is the place my co-workers like to go eat for KBBQ. Unfortunately, while I found the place good by Valley standards, overall it was just mediocre compared to other places I have been to. This place is NOTAYCE(at least from what I saw and ordered), so we ended up ordering certain sets that contained meats and a variety of other goods. There was also the option to order certain meats individually. The meat itself tasted pretty good, so I felt like they were making the food with decent to good quality meats, but the items that accompanied the meat left a lot to be desired. I thought the Banchan was just okay tasting, it wasn’t as good as other Korean places I have been to, and they were just acceptable. The salad served had some sort of dressing on it that I wasn’t too fond of, like a thick Chinese Chicken salad dressing. They didn’t provide any thin pickled radishes which I am used to when eating KBBQ, but they did provide the thin rice sheets. The dipping sauces were one with oil, and one with chili sauce, and I was surprised there was not one of the vinegary soy sauce options. The soup and japchae were also just okay, nothing too special. Overall the place is decent if you’re hungry in the Valley, but not some place I would normally go to if I had other KBBQ options.
