This place rules. Ive have been going here on a regular basis since i got my license almost ten years ago. If you say this place is gross or filthy youre and idiot. Incredible smothered burritos and huevos rancheros. Green chili is excellent. staff is polite and hasnt changed since i was a kid. They are very personable. Hands down best place for mexican food on all of 120^th ave. Puts Santiagos to shame.

After walking past Café Mexico so many times in the past, and questioning the food quality and cleanliness based on mixed reviews here, I finally stopped in today and got a chance to try it out.
The first big plus (for me, anyway) was that there were only a couple of other customers, which was awesome, as I had already rolled by three other normal stop-​offs, and couldn’t deal with any of them because of the long lines.
I didn’t encounter any issues with the cleanliness of the place, and was actually cracking up at the old-​skool, 60s vinyl booth seats, along with the leather-​wrapped tables. Other than those, it wasn’t too done up on the décor side of things, but was definitely clean.
I went with the Smothered Chicken Burrito, which came with Pork Green Chile, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. Everything was great, and only took a couple of minutes to prepare.
Between the two, I’d say that the green chile and entrées at Santiago’s are a bit hotter, especially when you order them extra hot as I usually do, but no complaints, I’ll definitely return. The only downer was that there was a notice on the menu stating that drink refills were limited to just one.

Disgusting. I left without even placing an order. Smelled horrible and looked like the place had not been cleaned or redecorated in years. Thank God for Chipotle across the street. I am heading there now and advise you do too before you consider going here.

I come here early after working overnights to get breakfast burritos. The staff is always super nice and the food is so good… If only they delivered… :)

Breakfast burritos are the best up around there. Sloppy, messy, absolutely delicious!

This place is terrible. Messed up our orders and then told us that they didn’t mess up, that we ordered what they served us. After not getting what we ordered, we tried it anyway and it sucked. We threw it away and left.

I like this place, but saying the green chili is the best? It’s good. Not as good as chubby’s. I love the breakfast burritos here the best. Good cheap place.

Absolutely love this place. We have been going here for years when it was a little whole in the wall behind where it is now. I’ve grown up with the staff and so have my kids. We are such regulars that they know my order to a T and if they hear my order over the phone they know me by name. Not only does it feel like home but the food is the best.

I’m telling you, if you have never experienced the perfect burrito, you will have no problem finding it here! Try the sausage breakfast burrito with cheese and mild or hot sauce. The mix of cheese, egg and potatoes are tantalizing with just enough green chili sauce to tempt your taste buds even further! To top it off, the entire staff is awesome!!!

Absolutely LOVE this place. I have been eating here for a very long time. Every time I am in town this is the first place we stop from the airport to get a quart of green chili! It is the best green chili anywhere.
The service is quick and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend if you are looking for good Mexican food.

Well I’ve eaten here a few times. It’s just ok, until today when I found an eyebrow on my burrito within my 2^nd bite. Totally grossed out and threw it away. 9.00 for a burrito and pop is a little much. Then I was noticing how filthy this place is. Pop machine caked with filth, lid holder full if dirt on the bottom. (I got 2^nd to last lid left) and floors dirty. I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.

I really can’t speak to anything other than the breakfast burritos here, which I’m fortunate enough to have somewhat frequently.
The breakfast burritos here are something I would consider a hidden gem for this area. I’ve had many, many different breakfast burritos in this area and I keep coming back for more. I think it’s the fried egg instead of scrambled egg. It doesn’t sound like much of a difference, but it’s a huge, delicious difference.
Cost, cheap.
Quality, high.
Service, always quick, always great.
Bang for the buck, great.

Don’t come here for anything other than the smothered burritos. I’ve had the tacos and enchilada plates here and both are less than amazing. The tacos will be completely soggy by the time you get it home and steer clear of any combo plates.
Amazing green chili on the smothered burritos. They should really consider only selling burritos. I recommend taking it home because the restaurant is a little dirty. And yes, the payment situation is a little weird but it’s easy to get over. I also wish they were open on weekends, or at least Saturday. So order a burrito, take it home, and enjoy.

I ordered a pork and avocado burrito smothered with half and half. It was delicious! It was pretty big, and packed with pork and avocado. The green chili is some of the best I’ve ever had. Only 4 stars though for the funky way of paying at the counter with a ATM set up.
I will definitely eat here more often, this was a great little find thanks to Unilocal

Ewww! That’s the number one thing I have to say. I will NEVER eat here again. Everything is canned and left a bad after taste. You have to order at the counter and pay for your meal before they make it. Then you have to pick it up at the counter after you seat yourself. There is no wait staff. The tables are dirty. You get plastic cups for your drinks. One good thing is at least we weren’t forced to eat off Styrofoam plates. Nope, never again!

Nope never again, it was a stretch and and arm pull anyway too get me here, and dang I should have left with a broken arm, or missing… I much rather stayed where my arm did at home… it was terrible, well wait it fed me and my family for less than 20 bucks, but really I would have felt more authenticity at taco bell. Need I say more. It is what it is the truth!!!

the food wasn’t bad. I had a combo plate and everything was kind of alll running together. Nothing caused me to say, «wow, this is good!»
I thought it was a little overpriced-​my chili reno seemed awfully small among the rice and beans.
The person i was with implied maybe i should try other mexican places before I pretended i knew what I was talking about. They thought everthing tasted great.
Matter of taste and expectation? It didn’t measure up to what I was expecting. I think it was something simple: I have NEVER had Mexican fod served in a restaurant where you didn’t get chips and salsa at the table. They didn’t give us chips and salsa. This wasn’t take out either. Our order was served naked.
The service was friendly and efficent and I did love the tablecloths. Red and yellow are two favorite colors and the tables had old fashioned oil cloth covers, bright yellow backround with red chili peppers all over. It felt festive.
I wouldn’t turn my nose up at having lunch there another time. So, it’s an OK place and worthy of 2 stars.(give me chips and salsa)

Cheaply made cafeteria food that was a little pricey for the ingredients. The taco was blah, the burrito was ok and the guacamole was out of a can. Moving from SoCal to Denver, I expect more out of the Mexican food– I have yet to find a truly delicious, authentic restaurant so far.

You’ll have to excuse me. I’ll be writing this review as I lay on my bed, hungover on cheesy meaty outrageousness, trying to recover from the bizarre earthquake in my intestines.
The culprit on the seismograph (you know, that thing that measures earthquakes) is known as a smothered burrito. It is always so delicious, and I just kept eating and eating it. My brain will not allow me to put my fork down. But alas, I can’t even get through one fourth of this monstrosity without feeling something really wrong with my body.
And then I go back for more.
Reasonable prices, and actually pretty cheap for what you get. I get the half & half for the green chile. Perfect complement for the mound of diary and poultry (or beef or pork, depending on what kind of day I’m having) currently making its way to my stomach (and thighs and buttocks. You’re welcome for the visual).
Only complaint? Closed on weekends.
But I hear they do a pretty mean breakfast burrito that will give you the same results as the smothered burrito.

I was on my way to Safeway this morning to get my breakfast of a yogurt, banana and a Sobe Lean green tea. For some unexplained reason, the healthy stuff lost out to a breakfast burrito from Café Mexico. The forces pulling on my steering wheel were too great to overcome.
I just recently got moved back to the north part of town for my work. I had been stuck on the west end for the past few years so Café Mexico and its sisters Burritos & Co have been pretty much inaccessible to me.
Nothing has changed here. I have had lunch here quite a few times, but the stand-​out for me is their breakfast burritos. It’s still a really decent burrito. The taste is still the same, and is unique to these restaurants. I love the flavor of their chili. For me, it’s unmistakable. For breakfast burritos, the meat options are limited… sausage, pork, chicken or beef. $ 2.25 without cheese, $ 2.50 with. Mild, hot or half & half on the green chili. The one thing I love about them is the way they don’t use scrambled eggs like most other places. Instead, you’ll find a whole fried egg inside. This, along with the generous amount of chili they put in makes for a very ‘moist’ burrito. Just enough to not have any type of a dry feeling in your mouth, but not so much that you make a mess of the thing trying to eat it.
Service is always fast and friendly. The prices have only budged by a quarter since I’ve been going here. You can use a credit/​debit card here if you have a PIN. The counter top machine charges $ 1.50 fee as it’s basically an ATM. They’re closed on weekends. Lunch/​dinner is your basic Mexican fare. Decent, but wouldn’t make me go out of my way like the breakfast burritos do. I don’t care for the taste of their beans. They almost have that canned taste to them. The iced tea is brewed, not fountain.
I left off one star for the few items I mentioned above, and the fact that even though the flavor and quality is always consistent, the size of the burritos isn’t. I would also like the choice of maybe bacon and ham.
