One of my favorite places to go to get my Filipino fix. Chow King shares a common dining area with two other restaurants. The tables and area are decently clean. Staff are always polite and friendly. My favorite is the Tocino Bangus breakfast. Filipino breakfast is always great any time of the day. A nice new addition is the Sweet and Sour Pork chef special. If they cut down a little bit on the batter and increase the pork portion it would be even more delicious. Oh the Congee and the fried tofu is good too.

Im giving them a 3 star for their awesome chinese-style chicken, taho, and halo halo! Thats it! It would have been higher had it not for the long wait and inconsistency in their service,

1 star is for the food. The halo-halo had a big chunk of ice & the ingredients were skimpy. Don’t know if garlic rice is still being served here. What I got was fried rice with bits of egg & green onions & the rice was yellowish. Pancit canton was skimpy, too. One Chinese-style Fried drumstick lack flavor. Sesame balls & lumpia were just ok. I wanted Garlic Fried Chicken, but they ran out. Poor management. Running out of chicken during a week day? I’ve eaten at this Chowking before(about a year ago) when the portion size was bigger & the food more flavorful. So, if you want to spend for smaller portion size food & the description is how I just described, come to this Nordhoff Chowking. I guarantee you will be disappointed & still feel hungry like I was when I got home.

I can say that it’s the worst chowking ever! Bad bad service, food takes forever to be served. The worst part was they have the worst manager! Poor customer service and she don’t look neat and professional. She don’t know how to deal with customer issues! I will never come back in this Chowking. Woodman Chowking is the best!

It was your regular Chowking joint… I guess when I miss the Philippines I come here to feel home. I like the halo-halo and the the buko pandan and mango shake… its just kinda spendy… the fried rice in the breakfast was okay… the bangus and the tocino is good, the lumpiang shanghai is out of a bag. I will comeback if I am in the area.

I got the beef wonton noodles and I didn’t get any wontons. There are half a dozen pictures of this item and all of them have wontons in the picture, but when I got mine, I kept fishing around for any sign of a wonton, but I was heartbroken to find that I didn’t have a single one. I expected more, but I guess I’ll have to go to jollybee next time.

Customer service sucks!!! And they don’t have the siopao/siomai available. Their soup is cold as Fvcking ice. I will never go back to this chain, untidy and incomplete! They should CLOSE!!!

Customer service SUCKS! Smile mor3. It’s good for the muscles around your face. It lessens wrinkles and it actually feels good. Try it sometimes…

Had my first halo halo here! I like Vietnamese che dessert better because they have more beans and jelly. It costs $ 3.99 plus tax. Some of the food they offer looks interesting. Service wasn’t fast and I stood in line for longer than I should have.

We tried ordering ahead of time because we have somewhere to go, so I called ahead for pick up, and the Manager today, June 23, 2014 at 9:36AM was the one that answered the phone and took my order. I told him that we’ll be there within 15 minutes, we got to this Chowking location and they haven’t even prepared the order. Customer Service is horrible!

Came here to try their Halo Halo. I was pleased, it’s so yummy! But yes, they do put a lot of ice… Well rather a large chunk that was UNBREAKABLE! My boyfriend said it’s nothing compared to the Halo Halo in Manila, but it’s decent. It’s in a Filipino supermarket so it was nice to shop around after. Food is decent, but my boyfriend had to use the bathroom when we got home so I don’t know(–___-) Thai tea boba was good! If you’re in the area, give it a try!

Their fried fish is good for brekkie, but their Halo Halo receives two thumbs down! Seriously, huge chunks of ice, and barely any of the other ingredients(beans, jackfruit, etc) was minimal. We had to ask for more because they were such penny pinchers. Ugh. The flies all over the tables annoyed the crap outta me, too. I had to get out of there. Grrr

Good mami and siopao — their food was never to-die-for, in my opinion, though. Occasionally, I’ll crave their pandan or ube shakes, but if you want great, authentic mami and siopao in the valley, just go to Mami King.

Got my fix on but not as good as the one in Manila. The Halo Halo is correct but I prefer less ice.

Really 3.5 stars, but closer to 4 than 3. Service was friendlier, better, and faster than any other Chow King location that we’ve been to. This location is located inside Seafood City along with other Filipino places like Valerios and Goldilocks. There are plenty of tables available to sit down at and eat. The food is as good as the other branches we’ve visited. The tapsilog with bangus combination is my wife’s favorite dish to order. I like the other breakfast choices and the fried chicken.

This place is terrible on so many levels. When you make a mistake once, we let it slide. But when you keep making mistakes on multiple levels, there has to be something wrong with this place. On more than one occasion they did not have a lot of items on the menu. About a year ago, I came with my family and my mother tried ordering their spaghetti but they said they ran out. How odd, it’s the weekend, how can you not have anymore when most people eat out on the weekend. Ok, we let it slide. On another occasion we tried ordering their beef noodle soup but they didn’t have any either, so had to settle for arrozcaldo. Not what I wanted but oh well. My parents ordered dinner to-go from here the other night. My father was not pleased. He ordered the arrozcaldo and there was a chicken bone in there but no meat! Wow, the chefs should be watching where they’re chucking their trash. My family came here again, with me this time. It was nice and quiet given that it is Christmas Day. I ordered their fried chicken combo(comes with rice, pancit, shrimp chips, shumai, and sesame balls). My mom ordered the garlic chicken combo and my dad wanted their wonton soup but they were still making the wontons so he had to settle for beef noodle soup. First of all, they did not have any gravy prepared for the chicken and they couldn’t even give me a time frame of when it’ll be ready. So I had to have the chicken without gravy. No biggie for me, but for other customers it’ll be a problem. Secondly, how can you not have wontons ready for the soup?! Did you think people would not eat out just because its a holiday so therefore it’s okay to be lazy?! My family and I have encountered way too many disappointing moments here. You’re better off at the Chowking in Panorama City. We will not be coming to this location ever again.

5STARS for the fried chicken. Their menu used to have a 3 piece chicken with rice and your choice of pancit or Filipino spaghetti and a soda. Now, that’s no longer on the menu, but you can ask the cashier. It’s about $ 6 or so. Not 100% on the price. The cashiers are always suuuuuuper nice, and courteous. «O po» and«Ma’am» will be heard at least 100 times during your transaction. I haven’t tried anything else on their menu. So my rating is solely based on the fried chicken which I think surpasses Jollybee’s Chicken Joy. Their halo-halo is pretty good. Kind of pricy. Ample dining seating in the middle of the Seafood City grocery store, shared with the other restaurants.

This review is for 03/14/2012. When I found out that my mother was being moved from a hospital two hours away to being as close to 15 minutes away, I was ecstatic. She even called me to bring her food from any Filipino Restaurant. I am not sure I chose correctly. Yes, I am Filipino, but I don’t know much about being Filipino and the foods. So, I decided to go to Chowking in North Hills. Right after work, I drove to North Hills locations. Knowing Panorama City location, the fight for parking spaces would be a dangerous one. This Chowking is located on the southeast corner of Balboa and Woodley. The Chowking shares a small location within Seafood City. Like many Filipino locations I visit, I get stared at. OK, haven’t you seen a 6’3″ Filipino before. I guess not. I walked in around 5:10pm and was greeted by a cheery cashier. Trying to sell me whatever he could with a smile. I felt really weird, but had items set in my mind. I ordered a Beef Wonton Noodle($ 5.99) and one BBQ Port Siapao($ 1.99). Before I write my total, the guy was about to sell some meal deals for me. I was about to just drop my sale all together, but I was already there. My total was $ 8.68. The wait was about 5 – 7 minutes. So, I decided to go next door to Valerio’s Bakery. You can read that review at: When I walked out of Valerio’s Bakery, my order was ready and the cashier greeted me off. For a moment, I thought he was going to escort me to the door. What did I do? Unfortunately, I did not get to try out the food, but I am sure making my mother smile was a good plus. Now, I feel like trying the food out. :P Unilocal is My Review, My Story, and My Life. Its time to share it.
