I just went for my 2 ½ visit to Marianne at the salon today. I say half as I needed a fix from last week’s cut. Now before you see that as a negative — It was a POSITIVE experience. At my 2nd cut ever there, I didn’t speak up when I needed a little off and as she didn’t dry it — I was getting it colored — there wasn’t the typical check while drying that she does. Plus I didn’t know about the amount of time scheduled for my appointment and thought there was more time. The end result, I needed it shorter/more layered — and they quickly obliged with a new appointment and at no charge. She wouldn’t even accept a tip! Marianne is great. I first went to her in October when I wanted a new look. I took almost 3 ½ inches off and changed the style — all from a picture. While nervous as I had no recommendation or first-hand experience there — it was a calm, very communicative consultation and wonderful experience. How often can say that after going to a new hairdresser! Marianne listens and talks through changes — ensuring that you are happy. It’s her ultimate goal. She’s also quite witty too. I really liked her personal approach and that’s why I went back. I will go back again. Only open Weds — Sat — it’s best to book an appointment.(I got lucky when I was a walk-in due to a cancellation). The customer service is really top notch — another thing that’s starting to lack with many salons, and the price is moderate and in line with industry. Definitely worth looking in to!

I had a good haircut with Jenny, which is the important part. Their blowout style is a little different though, or at least it was for me. One of my favorite parts of getting my hair done is usually the blowout, and the following days of great looking hair . With this different method/brush, my hair looked like it does when I blow dry it(okay but nothing special). By the time I got home it was frizzing and curling, so I had to use my flat iron. Just an FYI for others. Next time I will request a more traditional blowout.

After a few years of buzzing my head, I finally went back to a salon. My experience at J Stevens Salon was incredible. Everyone is extremely friendly and Alex, who cut my hair, did an amazing job. She only used scissors to cut rather than clippers and the results were incredible. I actually look like an adult now. I will be returning here every time I need a haircut.

I found this salon through Unilocal and based on the ratings, gave it a chance and made an appointment. I called and the receptionist was pleasant, she asked if I wanted a blow-dry too(I’m used to getting my hair styled unless I insisted on wanting to walk out of there with wet hair and looking like a wet noodle). When I walked in, no one really greeted me, I went to the receptionist and told her my name and she gave me a robe to put on and to sit in the waiting area. It was a really hot day and I wasn’t offered a drink or anything, I just sat there and waited until my stylist came to get me. I had Jenny as my stylist, I thought she was pleasant and honestly did give a good hair cut, just didn’t really listen to what I wanted. I had really long hair and wanted about 6 inches off, she talked me into taking 10 inches off to donate to charity, so I went along with it and had her cut about a foot off!!! The hair cut I have is a bit shorter than I really wanted, but like I said, it was a good cut, just not what I wanted. Blow-dry(Styling) was not included so I didn’t bother to opt for it. Like I’ve mentioned, most stylists that I’ve been to usually styled it for me without asking or paying extra, and they usually liked to check the hair and do a dry cut if necessary. When Jenny was finished with the hair cut, she gave me my hair that she had cut off, and told me I needed to mail it in myself… why on earth do they do that? Most salons would’ve taken it and donated it on their behalf — Kind of tacky to give the client their hair and let them walk out of there with sopping hair. I enjoyed the environment, but I think they need to step it up a notch when it comes to professionalism and customer service. Also, they accept credit cards for the service, but not for tips because the reason is that the owner doesn’t want to pay the % on tips, and he saved $$$ last year. Jenny also mentioned that clients have used them as an ATM(You can say no to clients who do that, can’t you?). I had to drive over to a bank to withdraw some cash to tip her… just tacky.

Jenny is my new best friend. She spent time with me before the cut to understand what I was looking for, she did a fantastic job, she had touch-bases throughout the cut on length and she advised me on color(said I could try a store-bought color and she would be happy to pick up the pieces). The salon is great.

I have curly hair. It does not respond well to «barbers» so once I entered the working world I had to suck it up and get a «real» haircut. At that time I lived around the corner from J. Stevens, and strolled in one day. I setup an appointment with Jenny, and have been a loyal customer now for umm. 6 years? Something like that. She does a good job on my unruly mess and is fun to chat with. Jonathan, the owner, always chimes in to keep things entertaining, as well. Big thumbs up to these guys.

Wow. I’m not much of a hair person, but I’m super impressed. I love my new haircut! I might really try to maintain this as an actual style!(I admit this would be a new concept for me…) Jaime cut my hair and he was social and friendly while chopping away. I will definitely recommend him to others. The haircut was reasonably priced as well.
