This hotel was very nice. The room was spacious, the wifi was free and fast, and the bed was very comfy. The whole place was exceptionally clean and quiet. Complimentary breakfast was pretty decent; biscuits and gravy, waffles, eggs, sausage and more. We have stayed at other hotels in Newton and this was priced better and just as nice. Will definitely stay there again.

Due to its 5* reviews, we chose Boulders Inn for our overnight stay on our way through Iowa. I was pleased to get a discount when I asked if they had an AAA rate! We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. More than enough for us, but it would be welcome with four people sharing a room! Can’t complain about too much room! Loved the large bathroom with a sink inside the toilet/shower room AND one just outside it. There was a refrigerator and microwave as well. The beds were very comfortable, however a short person would need a boost up onto them! They were quite high…(a comment, not a complaint!) We reduced our rating to 4 stars because of two things. 1– there was a sticky stain on one of our pillow cases. Luckily there were many more pillows and all were clean and fresh. 2– While the breakfast was sufficient, as a low carb eater, there was nothing except a few sausage patties for me to choose from. They had a waffle maker, sausage gravy with biscuits(heat in microwave), cold cereal, instant oatmeal, bread for toast and yogurt. As I type, I am being told by my travel partner that someone brought in egg patties after I had gotten my food. Sounds like they didn’t replenish until they were all gone and I was there in between. Guess I will consider the waffle a treat and work it off later!

We were attending a basketball game in Grinnell, but all of their hotels were booked, due to a swimming competition being held at the college. This place is situated just outside of the main town of Newton, right off the highway, and only 10 – 15 mins from Grinnell. The hotel seems to be brand new, the lobby smells amazing when you walk in, and the beds were super comfortable. The room was extremely clean, and the staff were all nice. Only a couple of things I noticed while we stayed there; the hotel is close to the highway, so road noise may be an issue if you’re a light sleeper. The curtains don’t fully darken the room, which can be bothersome to those who like to sleep in. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice size rooms. Clean. Very kind staff. It was super cozy and felt like home. The first time I’ve been to a hotel that it just seemed like one big house with accommodations. Breakfast wasn’t the commercial crap you get from continental buffet– you could tell that they weren’t wasteful as they didn’t not have the small packets of syrup and individual milks… instead it was the regular size milk gallons and regular syrup etc… Not wasteful and didn’t produce a lot of trash like other hotels… this added to the feel of home. Tastefully decorated. It really looked like a home builder decided to open up a hotel… and make it cozy… there were several nice touches here. ALSO– reasonable prices… we had a suite for $ 150(included tax).

Stayed in September 27, 2013, and we really enjoyed the stay. The rooms are cozy and stylish, in fact the dining and lobby areas are also very stylish and home like cozy. This hotel has a very relaxing vibe. I really loved the décor. Traveling with a newborn isn’t easy but this hotel’s cozy charm definitely helped. The employees were by far the friendliness hotel staff I’ve encountered. I would go out of the way to stay again, I’m glad I stumbled upon it! NICE, NICE, NICE did I forget to mention it and the staff was nice?
