This was a not a pleasant place to be. Waited 45 minutes for a drink. The place was busy but not that busy. There were only 2 bartenders and they were rude. Overheard someone complain to the manager and the manager’s response was that he couldn’t do anything about it. Pathetic. We came from the Ironbound to go there because it was kinda dead but this place was worst. We should have stayed where we were at. It was a good crowd but I think I’ll stick to the Ironbound

Great location. Great view. Good food. Good drinks… unfortunately service isn’t as top notch as expected… they are either not used to the volume of customers or poorly staffed but gotta improve on drink times… it’s unfortunate :’(…, but staff is sweet just a little under staffed

Great place. Great food. They have karaōke on Friday nights which is a lot of fun. Great DJ.

Spent $ 100 on new years to get ignored and attitude from bartender all night. While staff obviously had VIP treatment at bar. Staff is very unfriendly. Food is average. Emails where ignored when trying to bring horrible experience to directors attention. Will never return.

This has become one of my favorite bars in Newark! You simply can’t beat the view, and it’s right next to the arena so it’s a great spot for before a Devils game or other event. They have a really nice beer selection, and make a strong cocktail. Staff is friendly too!

Overall, pleasant experience. Nice view and karaōke was great. Ordered some wings-they were delicious. I was disappointed because they ran out of liquor at 10pm(honey jack). The menu was not as diverse. Staff was friendly. I would come back.

In Newark for work and staying at the Indigo hotel. After an exhausting flight, this bar is the perfect place to relax to enjoy a warm evening. The service is impeccable: friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The tuna tataki is delicious and the cabernet superb. The view is very cool and the vibe is relaxed and friendly. Love this place!

Lovely rooftop spot with friendly bartenders and solid drinks. I haven’t tried any small plates here yet. I think the managers are still getting their arms around how to promote it to get a steady flow of a particular type of clientele. It ebbs and flows based on events at The Prudential Center. The standout is the view. If you bring the vibe, you’ve got a winning combination.

Newark has suddenly become the city to invest in and with investment comes the strategy to attract a critical niche: yuppies. Listen, if someone was looking on the outside in, they’d call me a yuppie as well. I decided to try this out since my place of work had an event there. The venue was actually really nice, though the space was narrow(rectangular shaped). It seems like, from my few stop-ins to the rooftop, Skylab attracts the who’s who and their group(cute). Anyhow, I loved that they had an outside area and the view of the city really gives you a true perspective of all thats going on with the city. My only reservation is that there’s no food and the hor d’ouerves are so odd and random. Baked/steamed peppers with sea salt sprinkled on them??? Mmm, no thanks. Overall, the venue is very nice, the drinks are well done so consider this a good place to meet up after work for a drink and catch-up time.

I will never patronize this business again! Just because a venue is in Newark DOESNOT mean that I have to be exposed to rachetness, plastic cups, flatware and poor service. First of all, the bartenders were great. Corey and Ameer were solid bartenders who poured well. Jeanette was a good server who definitely stood out amongst the servers and Tanga was a good manager despite the drama. Needless to say the«element» was strong in the venue and I was close to contacting the authorities. The managers were of little to no help and I will be contacting corporate regarding the inability of the managers to «resolve conflict» when there was a threatening person in another party. Had I not been in Newark, I’m sure that party would have been asked to leave but were not. The food wasn’t bad but was inconsistent. I ordered wings without the peanut garnish and it took close to 40 minutes to arrive to the table. Either way, if you are looking for a nice rooftop venue and have some sense about yourself, I’d stay clear of the Skylab unfortunately. I tried!

I was excited about the Skylab, as it has a roof top. I was there for New Years and we had a lot of fun. It has ample indoor and outdoor seating. It has a wrap around roof and an awesome view. The issue I have is it closes by 10:00pm. The managers starts hovering around and believe me you will be out by 10:30pm. He did on April 4 and April 11. The food menu is only Hors d’œuvre, so it’s a before or after dinner spot or if you just want to meet for drinks and I have always been there after dinner. I was pissed off because I had friends in town and we went out to eat with plans to hang out at the Skylab and we had to leave. This is Newark, NJ everything closes early anyway.
