Interesting ratings for grocery stores. Safeway on Decoto, UC is my first location, however I like coming to this location for seafood, meat it is always fresher at this location for whatever reason. The deli section is also cleaner and more selections.

This is the reason why I don’t shop at Safeway. Went in to buy a simple item two items in fact question the price as it was incorrectly priced. Waited for a kid to go find the price and verified waited 20 minutes for him to go look at it in the meantime he was goofing off. Whatever happened to customer service. All I needed was someone to tell me I’m checking the place I’ll be right back

This has got to be the friendliest Safeway that I’ve ever experienced. I think there have been a few times that we’ve shopped here where we were actually taken aback by how friendly the employees are. Most of my praise for the awesomeness of the employees goes to the people working the produce section. We were here the week before Thanksgiving and a couple of the employees went out of their way to make recommendations for dishes we were making using sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts and dates. We actually almost wanted one employee to leave us alone she was being so helpful! Seriously though, having lived in San Jose the last five years, I’m here to tell you that the vibe at a lot of other Safeway locations is less than accommodating at times. My one and only complaint echoes what you’ve probably already read about this store. It seems like there are never enough people manning the cash registers. The lines for all of the checkout lanes, including the self check-out always seem to snake into the shopping aisles. Considering that this is Newark, parking can be a little annoying here. Honestly though, I’ve spent the last several years trying to find parking for shopping at the Pruneyard in Campbell. Once you’ve dealt with that, anything else feels like a dream.

This Safeway is super convenient for me and I can always find what I need here. I would say the only downside is the lines when it gets busy.

Honestly, I avoid shopping here if at all possible. Lines are ridiculously long. Really bad. And they only ever have half the lines open. No excuse. They’re telling me my time’s not valuable to them. I’ll shop at Lucky where it is.

Usually frequent the Union City Safeway store but after finding this store, I talk to try to come here. It’s so much more organized, cleaner, and people are a lot more friendly here than the Union City store. Especially Ashley Soto, and Phil Marinucci. Keep up the good work!

This is my local Safeway and I love doing my shopping here– the clerks at the registers are especially nice! But the purpose of this review is to talk about the DELI employees– they are rude, disgruntled, and sometimes borderline insulting. They are obviously over-worked or just hate their jobs and they need some serious re-training because their customer service skills are truly deplorable. Every time I have gone to the deli(for a sandwich, in particular), I have been treated like an inconvenience. Today my husband was spoken down to, as well, when he asked for additional toppings. The service is also extremely slow– there is no indication that the customer’s time or feelings are valued by these people.

I used to come here everyday to order from the deli and get sushi here and there. I dont know if they hired new people recently but everytime i go there now the chicken wings/breasts/potato wedges, the pre made california sushi rolls, nothing is done. The deli is slower then ever, it seems there is always a line and today i stood atound for 10 minutes at the deli 3 people were behind the counter in a different area and no one acknowledged me, im done with this place. Only reason i gave it 2 dtars is because it was once a good place to go.

Peak hours are Mon-Fri, 4:30pm to 6:30pm. I would really recommend not shopping for anything during this time — especially if you are picking up alcohol since there’s not the option for self-checkout. Other than that it’s your typical Safeway. You come here for groceries, snacks, meals and drinks. You can get other things like shampoo and whatnot, but I don’t think I’ve ever done that before. Here’s some quick tips to leave you with: — The bathroom is in the back-right of the store past the alcohol and cheese — The Starbucks kiosk there tastes funny during Christmas time — If your sandwich at the deli takes longer than 5 minutes it’s free, but I feel like you’re kind of a turd if you redeem it

This review is for their food section. Got 8-piece fried chicken and the chicken was definitely very fresh and tasty. I may not go to KFC any more now. ;) The cashier guy ‘Antowne’ was very sweet. PS: They have chicken samosas too.

Well thank goodness Safeways is always super organized. I prefer going here instead of Luckys. I can find what need really fast. Love that they have a deli and Starbucks inside.

I always astounds me when grocery stores refuse to properly staff. The lines here can take twenty or thirty mins to get through. Just take a look for yourself.

I always come to this Safeway for the sandwiches. Antwone in the deli makes them really good. He takes his time and makes the sandwiches like he’s gonna be eating it.

Came here to buy a birthday cake. Went to the bakery section, and waited and waited for more than 15 minutes. Nobody ever came out of the back to see if anybody needed help. It was very disappointing because I just wanted a cake that was already made, I just wanted them to write happy birthday on it. Nobody helped so I left.

Love this safeway, even though the parking is a somewhat hectic. Then again, what grocery store’s parking lot isn’t? Fresh produce, clean and organized isles. Friendly staff and short lines. I even forgot to punch in my phone number to get the extra savings and I was going to just let it go but the cashier told me to go to customer service and get it adjusted. I walked out with $ 20+ in cash back in my wallet. Happy, happy camper :)

Poke Review Went here for lunch to get the Ahi Poke and Previously Frozen Spicy Ahi Poke. The Ahi Poke was fine. The previously frozen spicy ahi poke tasted fishy, was not good. Stick to fresh poke!

This is your typical Safeway store, with nothing out of the ordinary, so I needed to do a comparison review contrasting their main competition. I normally shop across the street at Raley’s, as I don’t like the consistently hectic pace here. Safeway draws about four times the amount of shoppers for the same amount of space. But there are some advantages. Lower prices, if you don’t mind using the club card. I saved more than 10% on similar items. They are open 24⁄7; very convenient. An appealing bakery section. I like the layout, and the bread tasted really fresh. The choices in the deli section are on par with Raley’s The produce section is larger, but not any better. The employees I encountered were all helpful and friendly. The big negative is that the natural food and supplements section is limited, with not as much variety. A good place to shop if you don’t mind crowds.

I really love grocery shopping at this«Open 24hrs» Safeway. The staff is always friendly and helpful, everything is organized, and the best part is that it’s only 5 minutes from my place! Today was the first time I shopped at 4am, having woken up at 3am with a strange craving to make mango sorbet. I arrived to an empty parking lot. As I approach the store, I can see through the storefront windows that employees are hard at work restocking shelves and polishing the floor. I approached the produce section and proceeded to ask an employee if they had any mangoes. He replied YES and told me they are by the pineapples, pointing me to the back of the store. I walked towards the section and saw that mangoes were on sale $ 10 for 10. I started to pick up each mango, smell, and feel for ripeness. The recipe called for 3 mangoes. I decided to get 6 instead just so I can make 2 batches. When I was done, I swung by the cooking utensil area and picked up a strainer. After I got my mangoes and strainer, I walked towards the checkout line. To no surprise, I was the FIRST in line!!! There was a sign on the checkout conveyor belt which said the checker is on aisle 11 restocking shelf. Before I was able to turn around, the checker arrived. She scanned everything and helped me place the mangoes and strainer I purchased into a brown paper bag I had brought along with me while I paid. Shortly after, I uploaded a picture of the receipt onto Unilocal and left the store. Overall, I had an awesome experience shopping at 4am and will probably do so again next time I have a strange craving at 3am. FIVESTARS for my favorite local grocery market! SOMEMANGOSORBETTIPS: 1. Strain the mango purée to remove the fibers from the mango. This will make the sorbet have a smooth taste. 2. Add a tiny bit of rum or vodka to the mix. This will help prevent the sorbet from freezing over in the freezer.

Safeway looked kind of busy. maybe the the store is small, the lanes are small. people seem to be everywhere. iines seem long. not enough cashiers? looked for corned beef. passed at 2.99/lb. buys: purified water @1. –for my machine –did self checkout. other lines too long. notes: –safeways in the big city are bigger. –almost every other item has a discount tag on it.
