OMG I can’t believe this convenience store can stay in business. It must be because there are a lot of apartments around here but this store is just sad. Very poor selection on EVERYTHING, except for Marinela products! lol AND they even have a taqueria in there… I wouldn’t even dare to eat here though. They should just eliminate their produce section, i am sure that they do not make enough to keep it up and perhaps they can stock up on other products that they do sell.

I went to Ramirez Market because I had a coupon from the PennySaver paper they mail. $ 1 tacos — I’ll try it. It’s on the far left side of the strip mall where Grocery Outlet is. It’s loaded w/stuff that probably has been sitting on the shelf FOREVER, small aisles, and total fire hazard. I found the little area for the taqueria part of the store. Totally scary looking and no other customers. Bad sign for me. I asked about the meat. Did they have lengua — yes, cabeza — no, pollo — yes, asada — yes, al pastor I don’t think I asked. I got a lengua(beef tongue) and 1 pollo(chicken). He didn’t have any tortillas ready so he opened a bag that was off the shelf. He grabs 2 tortillas, dips it into some goop in a barrel on the Floor and heats it up on the grill. OMG! Then he grabs some chicken — puts in a dish, and heads in the back I’m assuming to put in the microwave. Lengua at least was in the steel containers in a soupy mess. He puts the meats on top of the tortillas, asked if I wanted onions, cilantro, salsas. OK. He runs out of cilantro and gets a young guy to grab a bunch of cilantro from the grocery part of the store. I don’t know if cook washed the cilantro, but it’s on top of my tacos w/onions & salsa. Took it home to eat –Chicken was dry of course, lengua was tasty enough. Total was $ 2 + $ 2.99 for a huge jar of Tapatio = $ 5.40! I paid CASH. He didn’t have change for $ 20, he hands me $ 5, then I gotta wait for another cashier to give me $ 10. I won’t be back. I don’t recommend this place.

I came here to take a look at this market because it is located in the shopping center that has the grocery outlet store. The parking is great — big lot with many spaces. The store makes me feel like I am in a shop in Mexico. They carry all of the usual Latin grocery and items. Even offering some Latin-themed clothing. What was really great was that they had Pan de Dulce sold at 3 for $ 1. One of these makes a great snack with a cup of tea. I wi come back when in the need for more Pan de Dulce.

Okay, so I am eating one of their burritos right now and it is quite filling! My husband had to put half of his chicken burrito into the fridge because he simply could not finish. Wow — they are filling and tasty! Apparently it is easier to order if you are fluent in Spanish, but if not, they’ll figure it out. My husband will not be winning any awards for his espanol but he was able to walk out of the taqueria with what he wanted! The rotisserie chicken is very yummy(the skin is soooo good) and I’m a fan of the carnitas. They either sell a lot of burritos or not that many, as the lady behind the counter had to go into the main grocery store area to open up a new bag of tortillas. When you shop in this market(and even simply walk through the shopping center), it feels like you are in Mexico. Can you get any more authentic?
