OK. First of all this place is called the Prickly Pear Bar or the Prickly Pear Lounge. Got it? I ain’t never called it «The Pear Club» because that just sounds kinda weird but nonetheless it is attached to the lovely, Ramada Inn. AHEM! This place has been here for quite a few years, but what is a well kept secret that is about to be turned out to my fellow Unilocalizens is that this is a great and inexpensive(cheap) place to drink. And it also tends to have some very late night hours where you can throw back a scotch or whiskey when all the other places have mostly closed down and it probably stands to reason why the folks who stay at the Ramada Inn might not get much rest at times. Here is FB link for the Prickly Pear Bar aka Prickly Pear Lounge and better known as simply«The Pear» as a longstanding local watering hole: This place is often packed out at different times and this is the reason in truth and in fact why«The Pear» don’t need no damn Unilocal review because just like Honey Badger.“The Pear” don’t give a shit. So you really could call this place The Honey Badger Pear Bar or The Badger Honey Pear Lounge or .well.you get the idea. Yes, sir! Your olé’ Unilocal buddy Madman has a had a longstanding relationship with The Pear in long times past. But lookie here. don’t be jumping up in this place acting all snobby and uppitty because this is the working man’s kind of place. It’s where the good regular folk go when they want to get away from people who might be Über-Yelpers so be advised on that. Mkkkaaay? Nobody here gives a shit what you Unilocal or don’t Unilocal because they are the Honey Badger of bars and lounges. They were here before Unilocalers and they will likely be here after Unilocalers become an extinct species and Unilocaler fossils are discovered in the limestone bedrock of Hill Country. Lots of local peepil come to The Pear. They sometimes have parties, bands and events here. It’s «catch as catch can» if you stop in here so keep your expectations reasonable. Kind of bittersweet for me stopping in at The Pear after some time away from it, but I went ahead and did it anyway. Why so long? Well? I was afraid of ghosts. Naaw! Not haints and poltergeists and such. Just some memories. Yeah. You know. It was about a girl. I had to remember to try to forget where we had once slow danced. just her and me alone in the place years ago… save for the one bartender. It was Springtime. There are times when a man or even a woman has got to make peace with their past. And having a good drink is a nice way to do that if you have the luxury. And the fortitude. Sometimes you don’t want to go to a place where everybody knows your name. Then again there may be other times you just want to go where nobody knows your name. Either way, «The Pear» is a great place to kick it when you need to spin down in a world that always seems like it’s trying to jack your ass up. I am YOUR Unilocal buddy Madman and you can ALWAYS trust my reviews ! I would never steer ya wrong ! Unless of course you requested that and you paid me to give you an alibi, but that’s another matter entirely. And if that were the case, «The Pear» might be a good place to have that discussion or any other for that matter but you didn’t hear that from me. Come here for the good drink prices if you can find the place. ;-)
