Neighborhood Gourmet

When we got to his place at 12 noon, he seemed confused and told us to come back in 30 minutes. I was disappointed from the get go. And I was not expecting much after that.
We go back, pick up the food. I was surprised that I was the only one waiting for the food because he looked busy in his kitchen. He apologized which I appreciated He has a really charming personality and even invited me into the kitchen. He said he had forgot something at the store so he had to go back. Which is understandable and forgivable. I would want someone to forgive me if I forgot something.
We come back home and the food looked and smelled DELICIOUS! From my very first bite, I could not believe how amazing it tasted! Everything we tried, herb roasted turkey, green beans, cranberry sauce, and yams, was just superb. Like nothing I’ve ever had before. I cannot say with enough words how good this food was, like every bite was better than the one before it. We paid $ 30 for 4 servings but the servings could easily serve 8 people. There was 6 of us that feasted from it, 2 were unexpected, and there was probably 2 more servings left in the dishes. And believe me, we feasted. My dad was one of the ones who feasted that was unexpected. He got off work early. He had no idea about this place or the chef. He said «Dang, this is GOOD!»
No plastic ware, plates or napkins are offered. 4 Servings comes in 2 big foiled serving dishes. Only cash or check is accepted.
We will DEFINITELY be coming back!!!

Recently got the pork loin and broccoli casserole with salad. The pork was great, not overcooked delicious. The casserole was fantastic! The salad was fresh and the dressing (bleu cheese) were terrific. We ordered the serving for 4 and received enough to easily feed six. We’re lucky to have a chef prepared meal at a great value here in New Braunfels. It’s perfect when you don’t feel like cooking!

When my wife and I were preparing to move into our new house, we had pretty much packed every item we had away. We soon found out our closing date was delayed, and turned to the Neighborhood Gourmet to cook for us (cause unpacking dishes would have been way to difficult). The value is really through the roof. In all reality, dinner for 2 could really feed 4. We often made 2 meals out our dinner (and I’m no slouch when it comes to packing it in).
The story of this guy is really cool (see Hecate F.‘s review), and I really did like supporting him, plus it was nice to have «home cooked» meals instead of take out. I wouldn’t necessarily say the food was 5 stars, but it is very tasty at an astonishing price. The only downfall is that you have to plan a day ahead to enjoy it. Check out his website and give the Neighborhood Gourmet a try. Menu’s are published weekly and although there are limited daily selections, I never had anything that I didn’t like. Pick it up on your way home and enjoy!

Can you imagine having a 5 Star Chef prepare your lunch or dinner a night of the week you don’t want to cook? This is the concept behind Chef Marcien Rusuriye from his kitchen to yours. I love to hear about the «American Dream» coming true in your own neighborhood! Him and his family are political refugees from Africa, he has put his 10 children though college through his passion for cooking. A resume that includes cooking for American Presidents and Politicians around the world. I would recommend reading his bio on his website. When placing an order submit it via email to him by 4PM for pick up the following day. SInce everything is made fresh and from scratch this gives him enough time to buy the necessary groceries. Be a part of his email list and he will email you the menu one week out.
We ordered his CHICKEN CORDON BLEU+MASHED POTATOES+SPINACH for entrees. We ordered for two to be able to have leftovers! The servings are true to appetite and ordering for 4 versus just two is worth the money. For dessert we had RED VELVET CAKE+CHOCOLATE ROLL.
The food was great and I’m grateful to have someone this talented cook for me. The menu has a wide variety of entrees, sides and desserts!
