I’ve visited the winery on a number of occasions and have always been pleased with their service. Their sangria is delicious. And I was happy to discover a dear friend’s son was getting married at the venue. Bottom line — after going to the wedding, I would not suggest this venue for a wedding. While the venue was nice and they accommodated well for the weather, the Event Coordinator from the vineyard was unprofessional and a huge distraction. I don’t know her name but she looks exactly like the owner of the vineyard(on the web site). The coordinator spent the entire evening on the dance floor, inserting herself into family photos and videos. At one point, my friend and I were dancing and the videographer was taking video of us dancing. The coordinator came up behind us, put her arms around us and started dancing with us. I asked what she was doing and she said, «I am photo bombing you». I asked who she was and she said, «I am the wedding coordinator». She was on the dance floor most of the evening — some of the time with a wine glass in her hand. She also came up to my father and started dancing with him. She basically tried to dance with most of the men at the reception. Guests were talking about it and thought it was very strange, but we didn’t know how to handle it. We kept hoping she would understand that she wasn’t a guest and would stop inserting herself into the wedding. I’ve never seen anything like it! Toward the end of the evening, she brought her husband/boyfriend and large dog on the dance floor. They started dancing. Then the dog started barking at the band. After a few minutes of barking she finally took the dog out of the reception area. It was very, very strange. If you have already booked your wedding here and she is your Event Coordinator, you might consider asking her to stay off the dance floor. We are looking for wedding venues for a family members and have ruled this one out because of this woman’s unprofessional behavior.

Really nice time. Had a wonderful host by the name of Al. He gave great tips and info about all the varieties. There was 5 in our group and they were very accommodating and we didn’t make a reservation. We went January 2nd and the weather was terrible but we warmed up quite quickly. I will be back in the spring.

My family decided to have a bit of a reunion at my sister’s house in San Antonio and this was the first place she wanted to take us. There were 8 of us and we were well taken care of from the moment we walked in. The Staff was fantastic. They were friendly, informative about the wines and they didn’t attempt to «push» anything on us. After the tasting, we bought a few bottles and went into a nice well-kept picnic area to enjoy them. Before leaving, we got to enjoy a nice glass of Sangria. Please don’t leave without tasting some of the Sangria, it’s awesome!

What a fun place to taste wine. The owner is a hoot! Loved the cab and of course the sangria can’t be beat. Try a shootin Blanc for a rally Funtime. Cute gift shop!

Very cozy place to taste and enjoy a bottle of wine. The store has lots of «vino» accessories. The frozen Sangria is refreshing on a hot Texas day. The«Shootin’ Blanc» is also another must try. The wine is OK. The best is the Cabernet that has won numerous awards.

Friendly staff, really nice outdoor space and some of the best Reds I’ve had! Usually prefer west coast USA Reds but this is a top contender. Wish I lived closer and wouldn’t have to resort to shipping these up.

Nice Vineyard. The wine is really good, they have an awesome frozen Sangria and the staff is super friendly. Check them out.

Wine tasting was nice but they seemed a bit short handed. You have to purchase cheese if you want it with your wine. Also, after we left we noticed the bigger group seemed to get a more detailed explanation with their wine tasting than we did. We were one of three separate couples that were sitting at the wine tasting bar, so maybe you’re better off in a group than a pair at this establishment.

I think this is the closest vineyard to San Antonio so makes for an easy drive if you are there. The grounds are very pretty and picturesque. I like the Wild West motif. The wine tasting itself was pretty good experience, although it felt like they did not have enough people behind the counter to help with the many people there. So it may not have been the most intimate experience but not too bad. The wines we had were all good. And loved the sangria at the end. Perfect for a hot Texas day. Overall worth the trip.

Cute place to relax. Lots of tasting options. We tried them all! $ 18 for 13 tastes and some sangria. Not too bad! Wines were decent… None that I HAD to have. Their dark port was delicious. They offer tours, but it was crowded so we decided against. Cute shop. Friendly staff. Worth a trip :)

We attended a tour on a Saturday and had a blast. David, the instructor, was humorous and very knowledgeable. Neither my husband nor I are wine drinkers but we enjoyed learning something new nevertheless. We paid $ 13 each for the tour and tasting and considered it 2 hours well spent.

I’m in agreement w/Jimmie R’s review. Just ok. If u don’t know wines, then you’ll think it’s great. They charge $ 18 for a tasting, which is probably one of the highest of TX wineries. They must not get much foot traffic, so they make it up in the tasting fee. As well, a good winery waives its tasting fee if u buy a bottle or 2. They don’t. We bought 3 bottles because they were ok and we’ll drink them so we don’t dip into our California and French wines. I asked them if they would waive tasting fee since we were purchasing bottles. Nope. So kind of expensive for a VERY«so-so» wine amd winery. TX wines aren’t that great anyway, so if you’re going to spend the afternoon visiting some, because u can’t get to California or France, go to: Torre di Pietro, Grape Creek(reserves only) and Sisterdale(their 4&5 blend). BTW, the sangria is equivalent to a snow cone and not high in alcohol content, as they have to water it down to freeze it.

We visited the Dry Comal Creek Vineyards earlier this fall. The wines were just OK.(Despite what some of the reviews say, the wines aren’t Texas wines. They only grow Spanish black grapes here and get most of their grapes from out-of-the-state. Texas wines should be at least 85% Texas grapes.) The tasting room doesn’t really any personality — it’s not quite rustic and it’s definitely not elegant. It’s more like a mall gift store attached to someone’s kitchen.

A rustic, friendly, solid homey Texas wine tasting experience. There are no frills or pretentious snootiness found here. Dry Comal Creek Vineyards started in 1998 by Bonnie and Franklin Houser. After two floods and loosing their vineyard twice to Pierce’s Disease they decided to plant only Black Spanish/Lenoir grapes on their 10 acre estate. Today they focus on creating Texas style wines that are drinkable now, and use grapes/juice/wine sourced predominantly from Texas, New Mexico, and California. Driving up to this winery you feel as if you are coming to visit your friends on their farm. This place was packed on a late Saturday afternoon, right before closing, when my party of four arrived. They have two tasting bars, one in the front, and another in the back room. The back room also has several tables that you can sit and hang out with your friends. On a nice day they also have a beautiful outside seating area. Even tough they were busy we were very warmly greeted and called over to the back tasting table. The tasting price various on the kind of tasting you would like to take. They have a selection of white, demi-sweet, sparkling, reserve, and port wines to choose from. The server was friendly, and highly informative about the wine and wine making process. I didn’t find any of the selection I tasted to be awful. Overall I found myself marking most of the wines as good to better than average. The bottle prices for the quality are spot on from $ 17-$ 33. It definitely had the fruit forward style of Texan wines, but had a nice finish, and well balanced overall. Everyone’s favorite was the reserve 2011 Petit Syrah. We also liked the 2013 Bone Dry French Colombard, Foot Pressed Red 2014, 2008 UnOaked Cabernet Sauvignon, and White Port. This was closely followed by the Comal Red XII, 2012 Cab, Sparkling Dry, and 2011 Black Spanish Reserve(more on acidic side — good for fatty foods).Even though we had staid beyond the closing time they didn’t rush us at all. The one thing you cannot pass up if you come here is the homemade frozen sangria. It is AMAZING! I will definitely come back for this. I also would love to come back and try the winery tour for $ 3.00 pp with wine tasting price. Even my Swiss friend who has gone wine tasting with me in Europe enjoyed her first Texas wine tasting here.

3.5STARS! The frozen Sangria is the only thing I’ve done business with here. I’ve never toured. I know their wedding prices are more than fair but it’s not the look I’d go for. Its rustic and basic. The bathrooms smelled bad the one time I used them. On to the main review: The frozen Sangria I picked up for a party. It was quoted by my original bar tender at $ 35 gallon but I didn’t use that bar tender so I was quoted $ 40 over the phone from this staff. I planned to buy 4 – 5 gallons. When I arrived they had a special going on. Buy two or more and get it at $ 32 a gallon. I bought five. Yummy! They come out frozen so keep them that way until you are ready to service. Place in a warm bucket for an hour or let sit out for two. Pouring the slush consistency into a margarita machine works best. The flavor is a tad sour but once your taste buds adjust you will find a nice sweetness in the wine and the alcohol will certainly kick in. It’s potent in alcohol but not in any way overwhelming. It sneaks up on you like it should. This is the best sangria probably in Texas. Your guests will love it and compliment you on the choice. It’s a tad pricey if you ask me but you are paying for fresh grapes and fresh homemade love. Enjoy!

Nice vineyard… needs to work on customer service– my small party and I waited for a long period of time to begin our tasting in spite of the fact that it was not that busy. When we asked for cheese to accompany our wine, we were presented with a Zip lock bag of string chesses… so that needs improvement as well…

Dry Comal Creek was the first winery that I ever visited and all of these years later it is still a blast to stop in. A trial lawyer who was fed up with the system decided to make a career move and fulfill a passion of wine making. Many of the wines are on the sweet side, but now they offer an unoaked cab and petite syrah that offer a deeper profile. Definitely upgrade to taste the ports: rich enough to be dessert. This winery has always just seemed more fun and less pretentious than others. They always have cream cheese smothered in this wonderful chili jam. They serve one wine at room temp and chilled(since the owner prefers the flavor of the chilled version). Another wine is offered with chocolate. They treat everyone the same which just gives this place a great vibe.

Try to come on a day when they have a WineU class. David is awesome! The wines are good. Very friendly staff. Informative tour. We even got to taste grapes right off the vine in various stages of ripeness. I’d love to come back and will recommend to anyone!

Stopped by after visiting another winery. Very reasonable wine tasting and Al was a hoot. He was very knowledgable in the different wines. I loved that they had snacks to bring out the flavor of the wine. Cute gift shop and area to have a picnic. Will definitely go back.
