George Webb

Remember that scene in the original «Ghostbusters» where she says… «Are you a God?» Well the answer here is YES! This is G-​Dubs and it’s the greatest diner on the planet. George Webbs is Milwaukee.

We stopped here last Thursday (July 24^th) for breakfast with our two young boys. At first we were seated by this huge gigantic guy who must have been almost 7 feet tall, at first I thought «Wow, I feel sorry for anyone who messes with this guy» but it turns out he was super friendly, extremely professional and polite, heck, maybe he was the manager, if not, he should be promoted to one. However, soon afterwards we were greeted by another server who was training a young lady.
As someone who has worked in this industry for an extremely long time, I have certain expectations. I usually point this out in my reviews when visiting a restaurant. This trainer seemed unhappy, maybe she was having a rough day, or maybe she is just sick and tired of being a server, or did not want to train a trainee this particular day, who knows? If she is, she needs a career change and to do something else that makes her happy. Moving forward, she took our order, brought it to the table and did not return back until she dropped off the check and we were done eating, at this moment she decided to ask us if everything was okay with our food. This should be asked a few minutes after a customer has received their meal, not after they have already eaten.
I really wish the first gentleman was our server. He was very attentive. If I would have left it up to my wife, she probably would have not tipped this lady anything and most people I know probably would do the same in this situation, now that I think of it, she did not even bring us enough eating utensils, we had to keep asking for them and she is even a veteran server. However, I still left her 20+ %, hopefully that put her in a better mood and at least the next customer received better service. We only eat at this location once a year, with any luck, I hope she is not there next time, or we will simply just leave and eat at our usual place, the Pancake House in Brookfield.
To be fair, instead of giving this place one star based off our server. I will give two stars, because of the first gentleman who greeted us right away and dropped off waters. Had he been our server, I am certain my review would be 4 or 5 stars based off his attention to detail, professionalism and good demeanour.

This little franchise diner is the epitome of cheap and cheerful. Sweet staff (try to find Lorie’s section) welcome you in as if you are a guest in their homes, and the food is spot-​on diner goodness. The décor is beige and kinda Roy Rogers-​esque, with booths on the perimeter and very low seating along the central countertop. Booths are for a 2-​person minimum, and sitting at the counter means you get faster coffee refills, so that’s where I headed.
I opted for the Meat Lover’s Skillet, which is two eggs, bacon, ham, and sausage scrambled together and served atop hash browned potatoes and alongside four slices of bread absolutely drenched in sweet salted butter. Coffee was constantly refilled and good, and while I’m sure the above would make a cardiologist blanche, it was fantastic.
They do have burgers and fries here, but with an all-​day breakfast griddle available, I think the pecan waffles will have to be my next order. In summation — this is not a fancy knock-​your-​socks off restaurant, but rather a down-​home relaxed diner making what you could yourself, open 24 hours, and with superb staff.

If you know what you’re getting into, you can’t go wrong with George Webb’s. Each one is going to serve you happiness and fullness in the form of greasy helpings of whatever you’d like. This particular location has been here forever on the corner of Sunny Slope and Greenfield, anchoring an old strip mall. It feels like the old corner diner when you walk in, and if there were a factory nearby the third-​shifters would be here every morning.
This past time I ordered the Wisconsin Egg Burger (~$ 8.60) to go. The burger was exactly what I was looking for: big and well-​cooked and greasy. I wouldn’t get the burger with the egg again, but overall it was fine. Plenty of food (the greasy bun will fill you up). I like their fries better than their other sides; thin and crispy. When you’re sick you can’t beat the chicken-​flavored (you didn’t actually think they’d put chicken in it, did you?) noodle soup.
Go, eat, look at the two clocks, be happy.

Stopped in during a road trip to grab a quick lunch. We were not familiar with the chain at all. In fact, was hoping it was not a chain. Upon entry, cozy diner type setup. After perusing the menu, if you like Waffle House, you will like George Webb. Same basic deal.
The only interesting note about this meal was the fact that the bread that was served with our fish and chips were both butt slices. lol
