You can’t beat a great barbecue joint and Holy Smoke IS great barbecue. Stan’s crew did a terrific job accommodating our party of 8. NC inspired BBQ flavored in the Linden & Yoho’s style, it’s worth a stop here or at the North Market location. Shrimp & Grits were nicely done in a cast iron skillet and there was a fine selection of beers & spirits, but wine isn’t available. Kudos to Holy Smoke from all of the Stroups!

Stopped by their food truck today and was quite disappointed. I had the Carolina BBQ sandwich and it just seemed like the components were all a miss. The bun was soggy and falling apart, the coleslaw was runny and cabbage pieces were too large, and the BBQ inside was kind of tough. It ended up just tasting like a lot of mayo on soggy bread. The service didn’t help their case either. People that knew them were cutting in line at their request, which isn’t the most ridiculous thing I know. But they also forgot to give me the side of chips until I went back for it. This wouldn’t get them a bad review on its own, but it definitely doesn’t make up for the food.

First, we walk in and see a «please wait to be seated» sign. We wait while a staff member was sitting at the bar chit chatting. Waitress confused the heck out if us, attempting to explain the poorly laid out menu. Food took a looooooong time to come out. My boyfriend’s fries were burned, my wings were dry and tough. The brisket was bone dry. The sauces that were provided were watery and tasteless. Poor service. Very few customers. Children’s highchair, but no changing table in the restroom. Waitress seemed very confused. Overall, boring, disappointing, unstimulating, unsatisfying, tasteless… Bad bar food, disguised as a dining experience. Never going back.

This is our first time dining here, we opted to do carry out, ordered our food on the phone with the help of a very friendly young lady, and picked our food up. My wife ordered the Smoked Turkey platter, and chose Mashed Potatoes w/gravy(5 stars for this side) and the greens(2 stars for this side due to my wife liking her greens on the spicy side) the Turkey was really good! I ordered the Pork platter w/mashed potatoes & gravy and Mac and cheese(5 stars, simply amazing!) the pork was great. The service was quick and friendly, we will definitely be back! Given four stars, because the greens weren’t to my wife’s liking, but if you like greens sweeter than spicy, you’ll like these as well.

This place is magical. No really the food is amazing. BBQ at its best! And the sauce is to die for. I love the management and owner who take time to customize orders and work with any budget. Made it super easy and took the hassle out of everything me and made it worry free. HSBBQ delivered for our sorority holiday party on time and the food was gone in minutes! They even brought all the paper goods. Saved us a bunch of money and pleased everyone’s taste buds!

I’m not sure when Holy Smoke BBQ got a food truck, but it was put into the OSUWMC Food Truck rotation this week, and I got a chance to try it at OSU East. The menu for the food truck is trimmed down for now. They serve chicken, pork, and brisket on a bun, and they have mac-n-cheese, baked beans, cave chips, or cole slaw for sides. When I went to visit today, they didn’t have chips, because apparently they didn’t turn out well. Not a problem. I ordered the brisket lunch special, which includes a side and a drink. I went with the baked beans, which have brisket mixed in with them, because I can’t get enough meat. The total was about $ 10, which wasn’t too bad. The flavor of the brisket and beans were great, but the portion sizes are pretty small. I was still pretty hungry after my meal. My buddy had the pork, and he said it was pretty tasty, but he also wished there was a bit more. The spicy Chipotle was the favorite sauce, and I wish they had a few of the other sauces that they offer at the North Market location(I really love the Carolina BBQ sauce, but they didn’t have it there). I’ll give the place the benefit of the doubt, because I think the truck is fairly new. The first time I’ve actually heard of them having one was this week. The flavor was good, the meat was cooked pretty well, and I probably waited only a minute before I was served, but I really wish I had more!
