Hands down the best chorizo my husband and I have ever had. I can understand why Mexicans come up from Mexico for this stuff! Not like your lesser quality chorizo which can be too greasy for our liking, this chorizo is more like a mexican sausage. Ready for the grill or used in traditional Mexican foods. All of the food besides the chorizo at Ochoa we have tried is excellent. Very down home Mexican.

Had a great experience with the catering. It is one of the best mexican fiestas I have had in years. From fresh, home made tortillas and salsa to some great carne and pollo asada. Did I mention there chorizo? Unreal service and quality. Cannot wait to do it again. Marisol is a real pro and can really get the party going! Thanks Ochoa!

I am a self-admitted lover of chorizo. Of course I love all forms of sausage, but pretty much all manner of meat stuffed into a tube is right down my alley. Chorizo was always impossible to find a decent version of out in DC, so now that I see it everywhere I go, I must have it. When I saw a place that is specializing in only chorizo, I had to try it. Ochoa Family Chorizo is down in National City, and pretty much just specializes in chorizo and chorizo related foods. I, after a night of drinking related puking, needed a hearty breakfast, and the Ochoa chorizo breakfast burrito was just what I wanted. The burrito isn’t a giant gut bomb, but it is large enough. Granted, the burrito was lava hot on the inside, but I didn’t get enormous amounts of flavor out of the chorizo. In fact, it was really mellow tasting, not what I was expecting. One plus is that the typical orange neon oil that comes out the bottom of a chorizo burrito wasn’t there. This was the least greasy chorizo I’d ever had. Will I be back? Maybe, but there are so many other options around here for Mexican. I’d like to try their chile verde chorizo that I saw in the case, and maybe need to try some concentrated chorizo flavoring in a taco or something.

Good food, good service, not all that bad. I really wish the portions were bigger though, other than that the food really is good. The Tamales de chorizo are really good, the chicken chorizo was really good and very home like. Good place good home style cooked food.

Signed up for Unilocal account just so I could rate this place. I’ve lived in Southern Cal my whole life, and San Diego for the past 14 years. Ochoa’s Family Chorizo has THE best chorizo and tamales I’ve ever eaten. Their salsa is also some of the best I’ve ever had. The only things I’ve tried so far are the chorizo, tamales & salsa so that’s all I can rate. I just saw that I can get a chorizo breakfast burrito there. I’m so happy! Check this place out. Staff is way friendly and helpful too.

Ochoa Family Chorizo sells salsa, cheese, and chorizo. You can buy it by the meter, or in a few items they make on the spot. Choice of pork, beef, or chicken. They make burritos with your choice of eggs, beans, and potatoes. They also make quesadillas with chorizo. These items come with some Ochoa salsa. I tried one of each at lunch recently. Its a large amount of food. The flavor is good and it is very fresh. The prices are competitive. Its a small shop with 2 tables, but you can order food to go. Their business card lists: Chorizo Casero, Cheese, Salsas, Cesina, Tortillas and more.
