Fran’s Flowers is a hidden gem. No really, I had a hard time finding it but I’m going to spare you Unilocalers the trouble. Go into the plaza with the supermarket(Stop n’ Shop at the time of this posting). Drive to the left where the Building 19 used to be. Keep driving. All the way to the back. You’ll see an outdoor area with fencing and flowers. That’s Fran’s. Now park and check it out! When I arrived, I was browsing around for plant food for my lazy Hibiscus — the darn thing decided to not bloom this summer. Fran appeared and offered to help.(And by offered, I really do mean he offered and was not about to force unsolicited advice on me. I found that to be a very respectful gesture and great customer service.) He went into detail about plant chemistry and made some suggestions for my plant problem. He was very helpful, friendly and seemed like he really knew his stuff. Fran’s shop has hanging planters, annuals, perennials and a small selection of local fruits and vegetables. They also have a great stock of food and fertilizer, both organic and non-organic. I will certainly be back here before the end of the growing season. Update: Two weeks later, one of my two troublesome hibiscus plants has yellow blooms all over. Thanks fertilizer advice, Fran!

Fran’s is a great place to pick up potted flowers for your garden and/or hanging baskets. I bought 2 Martha Washington plants for Mother’s Day and my Mother-in-law and Grandmother-in-law loved them! Aunts who were at the party asked where we got the flowers because they were beautiful and others hadn’t seen that type of flower before.(Aside from the flowers being pretty, my Mother-in-law’s name is Martha, so the name of the flowers sold me.) The prices at Fran’s are reasonable and the staff is helpful.

I bought a Christmas tree from Fran’s Flowers this year. The tree is the perfect size, shape, and was reasonably priced. The staff was extremely helpful and tied it down to my car top for me. Get your trees from Fran!

Terrific plants, flowers and holiday greenery. Getting my tree there this year. Very community minded, reasonable prices.

Nice people, great service, great plants and flowers at reasonable prices. Their summer vegetables that they get daily from a local farm are fabulous, especially the corn. Always a pleasure shopping there.

When Spring starts springing, I start thinking, «Maybe this year I won’t kill the plants in my window boxes.» And then I head over to Fran’s. They have the best deals around, the staff is exceedingly friendly and helpful, and the selection isn’t half bad either! The guy working there volunteered a bunch of info about the soils without waiting for me to ask, and offered to carry them to the car. Try getting that kind of service at the gigantor home superstores. It’s a little too early to expect any great plants to be available, but I found plenty. I got a few boxes of pansies(I’m gay!), poppies, and some mint. I also got a huge bag of potting soil and the whole shazam was about $ 20, so when I inevitably overwater the pansies and kill them by loving them too much(I’m codependent!), at least I’m only out a few dollars. The only thing is, finding this place is a little weird. It’s in the way back of the Building 19 parking lot. It doesn’t make a lot of sense, but there it is. You’ll find it if you drive all the way to the far end of the lot.
