Jason really hates this place but he’s a super cranky foodie. Lets clear this up… there is no discount. Its not part of Costco and god forbid you try to bring liquor you buy into Costco because they will murder you when you enter. BUT they do have a couple of good bottles at reasonable prices and many crappy wines at low prices. I disagree with those who are giving this place 1 or 2 stars though mainly because the place is clean, the folks are nice and they do have some good things if you hunt around. Also, if you are trying to buy liquor within 7 miles of this place, good luck. You will be down on Charlotte in some shady liquor store that actually deserves 1 star. All in all, I’d prefer to be at Red in Bellevue or Midtown, but when its a Wednesday night and momma’s had enough, you can believe I have no problem going in and picking up a reasonable pinot from this place. And, you know, a box of 48 brownies from Costco. Because that’s a thing.

M E Wine & Liquors is a product of Tennessee’s wacky liquor laws. Fresh off the plane & completely unfamiliar with this State’s rules regulating the sale of alcohol, I stopped in here for some beer while I was out this way for Costco. This place is right next to Costco. It’s actually in the same building as Costco, but with a separate entrance. There seemed to be an implication that it’s somehow affiliated with Costco, but I don’t think that’s the case. The 1 employee working this fairly large store was friendly & very helpful informing me about the nonsensical liquor laws in TN*. The practical outcome of this information was that I would not find what I wanted in Costco. The real problem, then, was that I wasn’t really finding what I wanted here either. I like beer, real beer, craft beer, especially the kind of beer TN considers«high gravity.» There’s not much of that in this store. Wine & Liquor? Like in the name of this business, there’s plenty of that. But the craft beer selection was extremely limited & very expensive. I settled for a single 6-pack of Blackstone Brewing’s Adam Bomb which set me back about $ 13. Yikes! I always like to try local craft beer, but local shouldn’t cost that much. 2 stars on Unilocal = meh, I’ve experienced better. That just about perfectly sums up my experience at M E Wine & Liquors. *highlights I recall include: no alcohol sales in grocery stores, no alcohol sales on Sunday before noon, & beer above 6.2%abv is considered«high gravity» which subjects it to all sorts of crazy regulation/taxation.
