I don’t understand anyone who says this restaurant is good. I will say that the chips and salsa were good, but that was the one redeeming part of our meal. I ordered the chilaquiles, mainly because I thought it would be hard to mess up, and it was one of the few items on the menu that did not have cheese dip on it. I am lactose intolerant, so I can’t eat anything with cheese dip(made of real cheese). I don’t eat artificial cheese at all. Chilaquiles is supposed to consist of tortillas and salsa fried with egg. The menu said that this specific version had chicken on it, which is also normal. However, El Stuffed Pepper apparently does not use eggs but instead uses cheese dip… All of the tortillas were mixed with cheese dip. So basically, I was unable to eat my dinner due to a dietary restriction… which I had no way of knowing would play a role in my meal. I also can’t imagine that this would have been edible even if I had been able to eat the cheese dip. It looked like a huge mushy mess, and my fiancé said it was inedible. I thought I might have just ordered the wrong thing here… but after splitting my fiancé’s meal and us both having upset stomachs for several hours after, we will not be back.

Best Mexican food I have had in Nashville; maybe even better than all I have had in the Bay Area.

What a great meal our entire family(6) enjoyed. We were greater nicely and shown to a table right away. The service was good and all the young men who took care of us, did an excellent job. My new fav restaurant near my house.

I made a(lame) joke about the name of this place on Twitter(a year ago!) and got called a jerk for it today. Though I posted a retraction(because I believe in small businesses) I soon realized they had also personally attacked me about my appearance to somehow«get even.» Pretty lousy business practices, if you ask me.

The main reason we went here is because we were hungry & in the neighborhood & they were open. I liked that they posted their«98» restaurant score by the front door. Beyond that, we won’t be back. Service was okay, but… when I asked them why the beans tasted like meat, I was advised they use lard. We both disliked them & then we had to initiate taking the item off our check. I got soft shrimp tacos. I was surprised that they came office-faced with slices of avocados(which were warm from shrimp, not the best temperature) & pico de gallo. The onions were so spicy hot I couldn’t it. The shrimp were well cooked, but I had to de-vein many of them myself. The avocado sauce was good, so I dipped the shrimp in it & pushed everything else aside. Husband had chicken chimichanga, which he declared the most boring bland one he’s ever had. Salsa way too mild with just hints of cilantro. Would have gone to Moe’s, but wanted table service. From the photos I’ve seen & some reviews I’ve read, looks like everything there tastes better with a jumbo margarita! I had mine with too weak tea.

Pleasantly surprised to go to neighborhood place. We tend to wind up at the one closer to the highway out of habit. So we broke the chains and drove the other way .3 miles away, could have walked… Place is not too large and was average in crowd but wait about 30 minutes into 630 or 7, lots of families in the area with kids still in highschool uniforms. Def a place for regulars. I think BC it is so close to a few schools and it is smaller people like to feel at home. Food is why we came. Awesome awesome service should be noted. I think menu was large but honestly I usually get the soup or fajitas. No soup here darn… But tried the combo of taco Chile rellanyo and burrito Did not come close to eating it all. No one did. Salsa was amazing. Rice was perfect, not sure of the beans… looked like cheap Mexican beans and since it was our first time there was not about to wager. They could be a secret recipe for all I know, but I was not going to bet my stomachs real estate footage on them instead of the stuffed pepper which was amazing and my new go to. Not sure when we will be back, old habits die slow but we will be back. The price was spot Ob cheaper than any other place so I guess the Green Hills and Belle Meade peeps know their way around good inexpensive Mexican. Not sure what to make of the expensive new place in the gulch. just seems like an oxymoron. We shall see but for now this place rocks!

Eat here quite a bit. I gave this establishment 4 stars, which is well deserved. I find the restaurant to be a little«dirty/old», so that’s why I knocked them down a star. They have a friendly staff, speedy cookers, and delicious margaritas. I recommend the, chorizo & egg with rice & beans.

I’ve been going here for two years on the reg. This place is not gourmet, but they get everything right, including the price. The margaritas are tasty and strong, and the food is terrific. The service is impeccable, they remember you after a few times, your preferences and favorite dishes. I come here at least once a week. Also the booths are very comfortable and roomy. If you’re looking for a great neighborhood Mexican joint that won’t break the bank, look no further. And stop by for a cigar at the place next door for dessert afterwards, compliments the tequila well.

Exactly what you expect. Very typical Mexican restaurant for Nashville. Food is good, but not memorable. The ground beef was very flavorless and the salsa tastes store bought. Menu variety and quality is very similar to a Cinco de Mayo or Las Palmas. I wouldn’t be opposed to eating here again, but it’s not a place I’ll crave.

I live on the west side of town and there’s really not any great options for Mexican food. A few ok places like Tequilas but nothing awesome. We tried El Stuffed Pepper a few weeks ago. I agree with a lot of the comments. Food is just ok. Not gross but not great. We’ve tried a few different things. I would not recommend the steak for any of the dishes. Its dry and tasteless. Everything else we’ve gotten there is all decent/ok. I wish I could say GREAT because I love Mexican food and really hope we get a good one over on the west side soon! Here’s where they shine though. Chips and salsa are AMAZING! Chips are always fresh and hot and the salsa is like crack. That’s why we keep going back. Their Margaritas are very good and strong! It’s not the watered down terrible green crap that all the other Mexican places have. Margaritas should be a White/Gold color, not green! Their kids menu is cheap. I think its $ 3.75. I have kids so that’s good for me! They also have a friendly staff. After a few times thru the door they recognized us as repeat customers and treated us very well. We will be back

I picked up a Burrito Mexicano from there, and though the food was not top-of-the-line, it was totally good Mexican food. I can see it being a staple for a quick pick-up.

Not spectacular, but good. All the items were obviously made here at the restaurant unlike the last Mexican restaurant we went to this week where everything came out if a can. My wife votes 3.5 stars and she’s a gourmet cook.

This is your run of the mill Mexican restaurant, but it’s a great place to take kids without feeling self-conscious about the noise and mess they’re making. If you’re looking for fine dining, look elsewhere. Otherwise, a good option for cheap burritos and beer/margaritas.

This is a good family restaurant with reasonable prices and good service. I love the chimichangas. Housed in a strip mall it’s not much for atmosphere but is great if you want a good cheap lunch or dinner.

I met some girls on Tuesday night for a post-engagement celebration. Located near Starbucks in Belle Meade Plaza, apparently this place has gone through several name transitions. The other rumor about this place is that they have what is known as «crack salsa» or salsa you cannot shake because it is addictingly delicious. Yes, I just made up a new word, addictingly. I’m not a Tequila fan but every one else in our party ordered the margaritas. Two for one Tuesday resulted in $ 5.00 tabs at the end of the night. The place is small but the prices are totally worth it. And yes, the salsa is pretty good. No smoking and definitely kid-friendly!

El Stuffed(formerly Las Maracas) is a good Mexican restaurant located in the Belle Meade shopping plaza. The chips and salsa are good and so is the cheese dip. I don’t recommend the guacamole though because I think it’s store bought. I highly recommend the chile relleno! Very good combo and affordable. I recommend El Stuffed Pepper for a quick Mexican fix.

When a place has a name like El Stuffed Pepper, it leaves you wondering. I tried this place on a whim and sadly their food was sub-par at best. Nothing tasted fresh, and most of what I got tasted extremely salty. I will not be returning.

Some of the best Mexican food I have had the pleasure of enjoying in Nashville. Enchiladas Suizas were incredible. Great, big, affordable happy hour margaritas. El Stuffed Pepper has become my go-to Mexican spot. Highly recommend. Docked the place 1 star due to interesting non-food smell in the dining area as we entered. Maybe just due to it being an old building. Smell definitely wasn’t enough to effect the meal, though.

For an authentic name like El Stuffed Pepper, how could you resist. A solid choice and one of our faithfully close Mexican restaurants. The food is fresh and fast and the salsa is great. Service and price can’t be beat. Great choice.
