A lot like the chain restaurants around town. Hard shell tacos, not much flavor to the meat. Canned salsa. I had carne asada, carnitas and chicken as filling. Rice was mediocre. Basically, this is a great restaurant for the typical Nashvillian.

Great service! Our server was very attentive to refilling our drinks and making sure all was well. I did not really care for their salsa – too much onion for my taste. If that’s your thing, go for it. Chips were really good though. I ordered the chicken taco salad and while it was good the chicken literally had no spices and this is when I found it strange there was no hot sauce on the table. My fiancé had the shrimp nachos which looked amazing and I really wish I stole a bite. :) Overall, not too bad but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

My husband and I are pretty much Mexican food connoisseurs. We love it, and, as such, are very picky. After moving away from Franklin and Pueblo Real(sad), we had to find a new staple in Bellevue by our new home. We tried several places and eventually stopped at El Agavero one night. Jackpot! The salsa is fantastic and comes with warm chips(bonus). The margaritas are great. The large draft beers are cheap. The food comes out hot, fast, and delicious. The staff is very friendly and the prices are extremely reasonable. What is there to gripe about? They’re actually adding on to the place because it’s always packed. There’s a reason for that. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

Very delicious and reasonably priced. The wait staff was friendly, prompt, and helpful. The salsa blew me away with flavor and freshness. My husband’s favorite dish, Chori Pollo, did not disappoint. We are excited to call this our local favorite.

We eat here once a week. The fajitas are to die for, the tortilla soup is HUGE and delicious and the salsa is always on point! Staff is super friendly and they offer a rewards card food for a free meal after so many purchases.

Good standard mexican fare. Huge portions. Very good salsa. Chili relleno was very good. Service was quick. I think they give more guac, tomatoes and cheese, than any other restaurant

I give this place 5 stars because it’s SO much better than 99% of Mexican restaurants in Tennessee. The food actually has flavor and tastes fresh. The salsa clearly has real onion, cilantro and tomatoes; none of that canned stuff most places serve. Good start to things. The top shelf margarita was fabulous. I frequently can’t drink margaritas at restaurants because they overload them with sour mix. This margarita tasted like it had good quality tequila, and wasn’t overly sweet or sour. I loved the chicken tortilla soup. The broth was delicious and wasn’t greasy. The chicken was moist, and there were vegetables to balance out the taste. They had chunks of avocado, which I love. The portion was generous, I actually didn’t finish it. My husband had the tamales, and really enjoyed them. I was too focused on my food to try it. If you live in the Bellevue area or west, this is a great option. The prices were great as well.

Best cheap Mexican in Nashville, and we’ve tried them all! Do yourself a favor and try the carnitas or the rellenos. You won’t be disappointed!

Yes! I love Mexican, and El Agavero always hits the spot. They have great fried jalapenos(they are fried on the flattop, not like poppers) so I’d recommend getting some and putting them in your cheese dip. The chimichangas are great, and I love the bean dip. They also have fantastic carnitas. All in all, this is the best Mexican in Bellevue, U.S. Border, Las Palmas, and Cancun aren’t even close. Make sure you get a punch card, where you get a punch for every $ 5 you spend and eventually you get a free dinner!

Queso is fantastic. I always get the chori pollo because it never disappoints. They are polite, fast, and in all the times we’ve been there I’m not sure we’ve ever had a bad experience.

Bellevue has quite a few Mexican restaurants. Rank this one on the bottom. You’re welcome. After seeing good reviews, I decided to try it for take out. Thinking back now the good reviews were for margaritas, so maybe that’s why I won’t be back. I called and the person on the phone didn’t understand me at all. I was told 10 – 15 minutes. I gave it 15 and headed in. Yah, I called from Publix across the street as it was a last minute dinner decision. There was plenty of parking which is great. Naturally the register is by the door so that’s where I told the employee I was picking up a to go order. There’s nothing to separate that area from the restaurant, so I stood there. And stood there. Might just be me but I felt like everyone was watching me. And I stood some more. Another 15 minutes to be exact. So 10 – 15 minutes means 30. Good to know for the next time I won’t be back. The bill was high. I’m not a Mexican take out in Bellevue newbie and the bill was twice the price of Cancun. Say what? I paid and headed home. We didn’t find the food impressive at all. It wasn’t inedible it just didn’t have any flavor. We had tacos, enchiladas, and rice. Oh, that rice. That rice. That rice was like someone found it on Pinterest. It was literally rice, tomato sauce, and frozen veggies. Y’all, Spanish rice isn’t the place for a bag of peas/carrots/corn/green beans. Yuck.

Boy, this place gets crowded on a Saturday evening. Lots of families with lots of kids. I ordered the mixed fajita plate and friend ordered some meat and cheese without chips. she crushed up a few and sprinkled on top. Trouble was, her plate was lukewarm. Mine was very hot. She asked for hers to be heated more. I had to blow on mine. Some of the meat on my plate seemed old– dried out. The heated her plate and brought it back. It was still lukewarm. Mine was good, except for the pieces of meat that were more like shoe leather. dried out. We at what was on our plate, but we weren’t thrilled with the quality. Portions are large. Have to request the green salsa. They do keep water glasses filled. Staff is friendly. Prices are about par with the rest of the city. Like I said in my first review. I wouldn’t make a special trip here, but ate here only because we were doing something in that neighborhood.

This is a solid place for Mexican. I’m not looking for a fine dining experience when eating Mexican, I want to be rolled out the door in a good coma. This is the place to go in Bellevue. Reasonable prices, great chips and salsa and strong margaritas. Perfect.

There should be a zero star option, or after tonight’s experience, negative stars. My boyfriend and I used to come here at least once a week… that is until tonight. I ordered my usual quesadilla rellena. Half way through my meal, my boyfriend discovers not 1, but THREE dirty fingernails on my tomatoes and rice. THREE. DIRTY. FINGERNAILS!!! That is not apart of my special! We presented this to the waiter and the waiter responded with«eh.okay. I’ll bring you your check» which proceeds with a long wait. Unless you want fingernail clippings in your food, go somewhere else. Mexican food will now consist of driving out of the vue to go to Sopapillas, where I have yet to discover fingernail clippings. Freaking. disgusting.

Based on the reviews, if I didn’t know better I’d say I went to a totally different restaurant. Everyone raving about the delicious and fresh food and great service had a very different experience than we did. To summarize: bland. The waiter had literally zero suggestions for what I should eat. He had no dishes to recommend at all. That should have been a sign right there that nothing is good. He was not outwardly rude, but he was far from friendly and didn’t really check on us at all after someone else brought us our food. I had one of the many combination platters and had I been blindfolded would not have been able to tell you the difference between any of the food. all of it was a flavorless bland mushy mess. The beans were runny and the rice tasted like it had been sitting around for hours. It was too pricey to be that bad. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. I really wanted to love this place, but it fell so, so far short of the raving reviews it made it that much worse. So far we haven’t found a single«great» Mexican place in Nashville, and now it seems we’re struggling to find one that’s even«good.»

The fact this place doesn’t have a line out the door while there’s a line at all the drive thrus says a lot about the area. Although it’s probably best for Luis, the manager(I know only because he introduced himself), that they aren’t because his waiter couldn’t come in and this guy is running the place by himself, flawlessly. The food is awesome, that’s been said. There’s obviously a lot of pride in this restaurant. Fill it up and give these people your money.

Easily our favorite place in the area for Mexican food. Everyone who works at El Agavero is very friendly and eager to make our dining experience a pleasant one. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. The chips and salsa here are easily my favorite in all of Nashville — the chips are always warm and I love the visible leaves of cilantro, chunks of tomato and onion. The staff is also more than willing to accommodate our dietary requests, always using cooking spray instead of lots of oil to cook our fajitas to help us save a few calories(why waste calories on oily fajitas when you could eat more chips and salsa?) :) A couple of our favorites: –Fajitas(obviously). We’ve never had a bad fajita, no matter which kind we order. I am partial to the shrimp and chicken. –Enchiladas verdes. I crave the tomatillo sauce atop these generously-portioned chicken enchiladas. Like, wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-craving this sauce. I love it’s tang and velvety texture. The chicken is always tender and the toppings are perfectly portioned — not too much or too little. There’s a reason why we’re sometimes here 2 – 3 times a WEEK when we need a good meal. Great food, more than reasonable prices, and friendly waitstaff. What more could you ask for?
