Post my Boogie Nights Birthday Bash, which was an absolute spectacle(I mean that in a good way), our brazenly Studio 54 dressed posse was still craving a spot to get our dance on. We didn’t want to hit up the usual suspects so we decided to try Division. Most everyone in the group still referred to it as Hollywood Disco but I didn’t commit to either as this would be my inaugural visit to this space. When our cabbie(who I will be writing a review on because he was awesome) enthusiastically dropped us off after several renditions of Party In The USA(hey, I wasn’t complaining at the time), we were greeted by a short line at the entrance. Clearly, my friend and I both notified them that it was our birthday(obnoxious, I know) and they were kind enough to waive our admission along with all the other ladies in our group. The fellas had to pony up a reasonable $ 5 admission. The staff also treated us birthday broads to some shots and checked in us throughout the night to ensure our happiness. Not a bad touch! The club wasn’t particularly full nor was it empty and the crowd was a mixed bag of nuts. Maybe it was because I was in a disco mindset, but I happen to love the old school multi-colored lit dance-floor that our group completely took over. What wasn’t so great, were the drinks… a few members of our group ordered some vodka cocktails that tasted just awful. Imagine if your 13 year old nephew was making a cocktail after breaking into his parent’s liquor cabinet… not good. Someone may need to find a new bartender?

It was an last-minute girls night and we just happened to all gather in midtown. About 2 years ago, a few of us went Hollywood Disco(which was in the same building) and had a really cool dance floor. We figured okay, if there is no cover cause my friends and I are super cheap, we’ll just pop in and check it out. No cover, .25 drafts. and a faint smell of bleach. We avoided the drafts and went with mixed drinks which were about $ 7.00 each. A cover band was playing, and in the 2 hours we were there, they played santeria by sublime twice and terribly sung classic rock songs. The dance floor was still lit up with mirrors around so that made me happy. You have to fight your way to the bar, and alot of people just sorta stand and hang out there and looked pretty and take up space at the bar. Mostly college aged. My friend’s camera got misplaced. As we alerted the staff, they took her name and number but didn’t help look for it. Ah well, seems strange it just ‘dissapeared’ … A few bachlorette/birthday celebration groups came in for one drink and left. Over all the place is dark so its hard so see(excluding the dance floor). When the band took a break(thank goodness) they played some dance songs which seemed to breath some life into the place. We got kinda creeped out by some staring guys. Maybe I’m old or I just don’t want to be creeped on. I suggest going to Division Midtown at about 6 drinks in and it would probably be a freakin blast.
