I was very impressed with this place. The food was very fresh and perfectly prepared. Example, I don’t know if I’ve ever had vegetable that we steamed so well. The were just the right amount of crisp and delicious. They know how to cook food here. Next time I am in the area I will stop by.

We also have catered for a party from here after getting consistently good food and service. The food was a big hit.

Today was our first time trying this place. We ordered take out. As I was driving home I can smell the food and it smelled amazing. From the first bite we knew we had found a place we both liked. It is definitely a family owned restaurant and the young lady who was there was very friendly and wanted feedback about our first try there. We will be back!

Went to lunch here for my birthday with my mother and my family. I wanted to try someplace new and saw it was well-reviewed here on Unilocal,so though we;d give it a try. The place is sort of hole-in-the-wall place, on the main drag in Munster, but not hard to find. I’m not really familiar with the area, but the sign was easy to spot and parking was around back and plentiful, though we did get there early. We were actually the first customers of the day. The restaurant itself is nice. Nothing fancy, but clean, colorful walls, everything in good shape and so on. If you’re looking for ambiance of fancy looks, keep on looking. But if you want great Mediterranean food, stop by. Our server was also the hostess and cook and she was excellent at all the jobs. We saw her running back and forth into the kitchen to get the food, but it was always hot and fresh. We were the first to arrive, but while we were there, two other couples came in(not together) and a solo person. She took time to talk to everyone, chatting and getting to know them and what they wanted. She was even able to talk my mother(whose pretty set in her ways) into being adventurous with her order and avoiding the ‘safe’ option. And my mom thanked the waitress for it afterwards. High praise indeed. Most of us tried variety dishes(my daughter just had the chicken shawarma wrap with hummus), so we had a chance to try a lot of different dishes. My favorite were the hummus, the falafel and the beef kabobs. My wife loved the grape leaves, saying they were the best she’d had besides her ex-father-in-laws place in Greek town. The beef kabobs were spice and had a good smoke flavor to them. Them had the right amount of char without getting dry or tough. The chicken shawarma was also very good. I liked the chicken kabobs, though my son found them a bit too dry for him. I felt their breast meat that was grilled, so it’s going to be drier than he’s used to for chicken. But even he agreed they were well-spiced and had the same good smoke and char that the beef kabobs had. None of the food I tried was bad, though some, like the grape leaves, just weren’t my thing. Though I really enjoyed the falafel, which I didn’t expect. The falafel I’ve had before was just awful, but I was talked into trying some. I will definitely have it again next time. For dessert, we all had the baklava. It was easily the best baklava I’ve had in years. The pastry was crispy, the filling was chewy, as expected. I could really taste the nuts and spices. Unlike some baklava I’ve had recently, it wasn’t smothered in honey, so it wasn’t sticky or too damn sweet. Overall, it was well worth the trip and we will definitely be going back there again.

Vegan best friendly. I am a regular here. The food and the service are perfection. The hummus is addictingly delicious, even friends who claimed to hate hummus have been converted due to the amazing texture. The Lentil Soup is worthy of capitalization because it is proper and worthy of a royal title.

Went on 12⁄11. Started with the hummus. Creamy with a spicy, but not overly hot green relish in the middle, served with fresh, warm pita bread. For entrees, my wife had chicken shwarma with rice and steamed veggies. I had the lamb kabobs with 2 sides of fresh veggies instead of the rice. Both meals were excellent and wife had plenty left over. They make your food fresh to order, so don’t be in a hurry or I guess you can order carryout. Our server who said she’s usually back in the kitchen was very, very nice. Can’t wait to go back.

Ate here last night with my girlfriend and mom. Hal was the only employee in the entire place. She was serving, cooking, and answering the phone. Even with everything that she was doing, everything was amazing! Phenomenal food, great service, and a fun experience! This was our first time here, and we’ll definitely be back! Thanks Hal!

Absolutely great food it saddens me why it’s not full every time I come in. Hummus is outstanding and smooth topped with amazing olive oil. Both times I have come in I was treated like I have been coming here for 10 years. Food is amazing and reasonably priced. Both the brother and sister are super hospitable and friendly. If you are in the area it’s a must. Very casual no need to dress up.

This is my first time here and I am having an amazing veggie dish: broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, onion, squash and feta cheese over a bed of rice and I sprinkled it with chilli sauce. I also had a lentil soup which was deliciousl The veggie dish is so tasty!

Great food and even better service. Enjoyed a quiet dinner this weekend, and our waiter couldn’t have been nicer with helping us choose. The tilapia is amazing, and the mushroom sauce on the veal was delicious. Homemade chocolate on the way out made it even more worth the trip.

We unexpectedly were in Munster and Unilocaled this place for something delicious. The food was great, the portions were large, and we had pretty good service, even though the place was slammed. I had a combo special, and they catered to my wife, who is gluten and dairy free. She had meat and rice platter The décor is unassuming, and the prices were more than fair. Will definitely go back, and they recently opened a place in Wicker Park/Chicago that we will check out.

I’ve never dined in here but I’ve picked up food plenty of times. They never disappoint! First things first you HAVE to get the homemade hummus! I’ve tried all of the falafel wraps-so good! The veggie plate is my go too! Yummm! Salads, appetizers, chicken. You can’t go wrong here! Thank you mishkenut for consistently preparing fresh, delicious food for me!

This place rocks. I have eaten here a number of times, and tried at least half of the menu at this point, and haven’t run into a sub par meal yet. The Lunch Special is the deal of the century. You get 4 different entrée pieces(chicken, steak, kufta and falafel) along with rice and a really good salad. Oh yeah, you also get pita and hummus. Price? $ 7.95. A house made chocolate with the check makes it even better. Don’t hesitate to give this place a try.

Have gone multiple times over the years and recommended this place to many people. The falafel and hummus are very good, and they have a good lunch special for those interested in large portions. I will admit my last visit wasn’t the greatest of experiences as there is sometimes a delay in getting served, but they are a family business that is passionate and cares about their lovelihood. Definitely worth a try. Make your own decisions before reading others reviews.

TL;DR — Stop reading and go now! Stopped in on our way to FFF and boy oh boy were we rewarded. This little hole in the wall had some of the best Mediterranean food I have ever had in my life. We got the Mishkenut special, it started with fresh hummous, falafels and pitas 10⁄10 Then the meat showed up, I am not a huge fan of lamb so the kufta was not my cup of tea but from what I understand it was excellent. All of the meat was WAY better than we were expecting. The rice was perfectly done. 10⁄10 Our server, owner, cook was wonderful to deal with. The little chocolates on top of the check were the icing on the perfect meal. The meal for 2 of us was $ 31 and we had enough left overs for a full meal the next day for 2. Anytime I find myself in Munster I will be back here. Guaranteed.

Aw yeahh. found some good food in an area I’m unfamiliar with. Score! There was one lady working when we visited and she did everything, yet nothing suffered. She kept everything together, all tables were taken care of and she did so with a cheerful attitude. She was awesome! Food wise we had a great sampler of many items, hummus, falafel, mushrooms in cream sauce and spinach pies. For our entrees we had rice and mixed meats; lamb and chicken shish kabob, chicken shawarma and lamb kofta. Though it’s hard to pick any, my favorites were the spinach pies(fresh, tangy, pillowy and delicious) and the mushrooms in cream sauce. These had a light spice to them which balanced out the heavier cream. Our friend had never had falafel before and he loved these; crispy and fluffy. they were very good! I loved how all of the meats were cooked perfectly, all of them stayed juicy and nothing was overcooked, dry, or rubbery. I point this out because that often happens especially with kofta and chicken. Between service and food our dinner was flawless.
