I love those crab rangoons! Service is excellent just like the food! Will come again to try the #53! Recommended by a friend and am very glad to take up the offer– will come again!

Dragonstar used to be our go to Chinese place, we always ordered the dumplings, jalapeño chicken & pork lo mein. I don’t know if they have changed ownership recently but the food is really different & not in a good way. The dumplings were inedible & everything else was bland. I assume ownership has changed because all the usual people are gone. Unfortunately we will be finding a new Chinese place. Too bad.

Went there today for a large shrimp/chicken fried rice and 3 egg rolls due to the good reviews but let me tell you that the rice didn’t meet my expectations at all due to some pieces being hard, poor size and quantity of shrimp and chicken… This wasn’t anything from the lunch menu so I really expected more… What I really liked is that their restaurant is kept neatly clean, staff was friendly and nice, egg rolls and hot sauce were very good… Maybe I just gotta try something different but for now I’ll only give them 3 stars.

I ordered beef & scallops in garlic sauce(was supposed to be spicy, but wasn’t– no harm), chicken cashew combination C29(which the owner mistook the combination with pork fried rice and egg roll for the dinner with only white rice– which I don’t eat), shrimp lo mein(which my daughter said was good & fresh) and the crab Rangoon that was unusually sweet(perhaps minimal real crabmeat was used, but I didn’t notice much in flavor or texture of any crab). Besides the minor mistakes that they offered to change once I returned home– I declined due to inconvenience. I am still giving 4 stars because of quality, portion and price. Next time, I will clarify my order and bypass the Rangoon. Also, if you want your spicy meal actually spicy– you may want to ask them to kick it up a notch. Not the best Chinese I’ve ever had, but probably the best in the area due to no msg and using corn oil instead of soy. I would order from here again.

Best Chinese food around here at least! The person who commented that it’s not did not review their«favorite place», so… It’s not a fancy sit down place, but the food is awesome. We loved every dish we tried.

out of all the local chinese places this is by far the best! Mongolian beef and mongolian chicken chicken are both delicious! They use just the right amount of oil and sauce. I hate when other places have all their meat/veggies just swimming in a sea of sauce. This place is our go to place. For some reason they are now closed on Tuesdays(thats when we usually order). Otherwise they would totally get 5 stars

We went here because our favorite Chinese restaurant was closed on Monday. Dragon Star is not the best Chinese food in the area, in my opinion. The food was lacking flavor. Overall, it was okay. We will stick to our normal place in the future.

One of the best Chinese places I’ve had north of Chicago. Service was great and friendly, food was delicious and abundant, and the prices are great. Looking forward to trying more. Would recommend their general tso chicken to anyone who wants a tasty, filling, and cheap lunch.

Easily the best take out Chinese food my friend and I have ever had the luxury of indulging in. He ordered the Orange Chicken and Sweet n Sour soup, I got the fried wonton appetizer with sweet n sour sauce. The orange chicken was the best I’ve ever had, and I do not like orange chicken all that much, this one was amazing. The fried wontons were so delectable, crispy, and a great taste with the sauce. Easy decision to go back here for da chinese foo.

Pretty good sesame chicken and better egg rolls than other places I’ve tried. Offers what you would expect from Chinese take out.

Absolutely ALWAYS buy our Chinese food here! The prices are super reasonable(even dirt cheap in my opinion) and the portions are generous. The main dishes we order are general tso’ chicken, orange chicken, won ton soup, and pork lo mein. I’ve bought food there many times and I’ve never been disappointed!

I would recommend this place for everyone’s go-to Chinese restaurant. Especially those who live in the Mundelein, Libertyville or Vernon Hills area. Good service, price and fresh ingredients. No complaints and have been a regular for a year.

My go to Chinese restaurant! I have tried most of them in Libertyville and Mundelein and this place is the most consistent. I’ve had the bbq pork, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, chicken kow/moo goo gia pan, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, lo mien, and wonton soup. I’ve liked everything but the soup and sweet and sour chicken. Not that those two dishes were bad but I have a preference for them from a different restaurant. Everything else is great! Their Mongolian beef is the best, I’ve not had any that good from any other restaurant besides PF Changs. The egg rolls are huge and they have a coupon on their website for them. They are very fast too, I usually order on the way there and it’s ready by the time I arrive It’s a family run place and their kids are usually hanging out there doing homework. The owner runs the front and her husband runs the kitchen. She’s amazing, she takes orders in Chinese, English and Spanish an goes from one language to the other whenever needed. Another thing, you can see right into the kitchen, which is kinda cool. It’s definitely more of a carry out place but there are a few tables. Could use some sprucing up but I guess it does the job if you had to eat in. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall in the Fairhaven area of Mundelein(my family has lived there for like 60 years so that’s what they always called it, not sure if they still do), and if you drive too fast you will miss it! Check it out I highly recommend it!

I LOVE this place. My guilty pleasure is Chinese take out and this place does it right! I’m a fan of the Kung pao chicken and the egg rolls are to die for. The owner is the nicest woman and will always greet you with a smile. I didn’t expect it to be so good but it’s always the places like this that are the best.

I like this Chinese take-away place better than most due to its fresh ingredients and friendly service. The Mongolian Beef and stir fry dishes are my favorite. The fried chicken is also very tasty, if not a little oily.

Dragon Star is my go-to place for Chinese! Their ingredients are fresh, and your order comes out fast, and right off the stove. Never had a bad meal– the owners are really friendly and work their butts off to make sure you’re happy. For carry out, it’s a tiny place that is an absolute gem.

Extremely good service from the owner manager, she’s super friendly and professional. The place seems like a dive from the outside, but the food is some of the best Chinese I’ve ever had. Definitely the best in the area. This place is best for take out. My wife and I frequent about once a month since we moved to the area. The General Tso chicken is delicious! Highly recommended!

Judging by previous reviews I’m either a total take out snob, LOL or I hit this place on a bad day. My food was OK… The highlight was my fortune cookie.(: I work down the road and so our food selections are limited to begin with. Thought I’d eat out with a coworker, Dragon Star had good reviews so we went in that direction. Ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken and steamed rice, crab rangoon over the egg roll — Coworker ordered the same but with fried rice. My crab was MIA. I had a fried wonton wrapper filled with cream cheese and green onion. — Tossed. My rice was good — but it was steamed so, can’t really mess that up. Coworker had the fried rice and it smelled burnt. Sure enough — one bite and the look on her face was enough to say it didn’t taste any better than it smelled. Our chicken wasn’t bad. The sauce was good and had chunks of pineapple — but again. I’ve had better-bad-take out. LOL I mean — its Chinese take out, no one expects it to be healthy… but this was just downright nasty. I ended up eating my rice and tossing everything else — coworker ended up shopping our vending machines. I wont be back.
