It’s only a 1 star because this place isn’t opened anymore. This place is like a 5 star BBQ Joint. And I loves my BBQ! But too bad it closed down a few months ago.

I usually go here for lunch, great and friendly staff. Usually go in with ‘create you own sandwich”, they have a good selection of breads and good choice to fill up your sandwich. The Horseradish cream and their Aioli’s stand out. This Google café is increasingly becoming popular with the employees.

yeah yeah. Inside the google headquarters. My boy, JC Balek. Foie Gras on the fingertips. Making it work without and oven. Not a big guy on the Molecular gastronomy tip, but a bow my head to a greater culinary mind. There’s no oven in this joint and i love that make it work attitude. I quote this guy all the time. Food is food. Props out to the fernand adria cook books. Love the attitude. Smoke and mirrors, baby. They’re giving him the another real kitchen. So he’s gonna keep food fun. HIs tastes are more refined than mine and i don’t dig the fatty stuff the way he does. But i try and learn all i can from him. Keeping it real.

The Great San Francisco Vacation Restaurant Crawl, Stop #6 — The Basic Deli. I have a friend who left my current employer to work at Google. Since we were in the vicinity, he offered to give us the nickel tour and lunch. We went to the Basic Deli, which he had been meaning to try. Thanks Paul! They have fantastic pulled pork with an amazing bread that must be made onsite — it was fresh, warm, and perfectly done. The sauce had a great kick to it, as well. My wife had a pastrami sandwich — apparently, they make their own pastrami, too — and it was delicious. Boys had a slice of chicken enchilada pot pie, which was a surprisingly good idea which I will steal when I’m back in my own kitchen. They also had cookies which were good, I always like a shot of sugar after spicy food. Prices are more than reasonable(free!) and I just know if I worked at Google I’d gain ninety pounds in the first month.

Mad props to Google for opening their 18th café on their Mountain View campus. The Basic Deli is a great café to check out if you’re in the mood for a quick sandwich. I recommend you try: — BBQ Pork Sandwich with Ray Ray’s Award Winning sauce tossed with 14 hour smoked pork –Create your own sandwich! There are tons of options, including 7 types of house-made breads, 9 spreads, 6 meats, 12 veggies, and 8 types of cheese to choose from. –Chiffon Cupcakes. ’nuff said. This café deserves more foot traffic than it’s currently receiving. I think that will change in the next few weeks as word gets around.
