Went here for dinner the other day with 3 other people. Haven’t had good experiences here in the past but we decided to give it another shot because the owners changed. We all ordered from the courses menu. The food was good… kinda sweet for my taste. Not sure if they used a lot of sugar or corn syrup or something… but portions were pretty small for 4 people. Also they forgot to give us one of the courses, but later on they made up for it by bringing us a little something extra :) we got, pumpkin porridge, dumplings, japchae, pancake, salad, sashimi salad, sashimi & shrimp, bibimbap, bulgogi, & fruit. My favorite was actually the pancake. So good! I liked that the walls had writing all over them. It was fun writing my own thing on it and searching for names I might possibly know. The new owners are super friendly. One of them stayed and chatted with us at our table for a while. She told us the name of the restaurant would be changing too! Idk if I’d get the courses again, but I do want to go back and try the rest of their menu!

The marinated marinated beefs here are great. I don’t know what they marinate their meat in but it is delicious! Found this spot on accident because my girlfriend and myself were hungry late at night. The staff is very nice and very polite to us even though we come at late hours or busy hours. The downside is that it is a bit costly, but personally I’d pay a bit more for quality food then go to an all you can eat Korean bbq spot for inferior food.

I am not a big fan of the ambience; the music was like annoying workout music, lights were dimmed, and there were weird movie posters on the walls. It bears resemblance to the Korean(bars), which aren’t the most family-friendly places. The food was okay! I enjoyed my ooguhjee tang(). It had some large pieces of beef in there, and the broth was rich, savory, and salty(I like salty). The other members of my company ordered naengmyung, donkatsu, and albab. The albab was my favorite because it tasted like a quirky version of bibimbap. The sweetness of the caviar and the crunchiness of the dried pieces of rices at the bottom of the hot bowl were pleasant surprises to my tastebuds. The donkatsu on the other hand was a bit too soggy and bready. I didn’t get to try the naengmyung, but the friend who ate it said it was refreshing to the tastebuds and the soul. The presentation of the foods are also quite nice. The naengmyung came out in a lovely large ceramic bowl, and the donkatsu was arranged with various fruits. For the food I would come back again– I hope to try the rest of the things on the menu! A good place to try for variety!

I’ve got to try this place again. Wasn’t able to scarf down much food but the small amount that I did passes the Korean test. Anyways, I crashed a company party which obviously wasn’t one I worked for so I nibbled a bit and drank a lot. 22oz Korean beer and Soju is always a must at these places so, well I partook. Service seemed decent at best, giving we were in a large private room with about 40 people, eating and drinking, I guess it’s not too bad. Karaōke? Yes please. It would’ve been awkward if I had sang here knowing only a handful of people I had to resist. System is a good one and speakers are loud but definitely a drunken type of karaōke here. Will update the review when I get a chance to go back for more food but I guess it gets a passing grade for now.

I went here with a group of people yesterday. I’m not sure if the owner changed or something but… THESERVICEWASHORRIBLE. They literally ignored us from the time we walked in(we were never even greeted), to the time we walked out. If we asked for them to replenish one of the side dishes, they ignored us. They literally threw the food on the table when they brought it to us. It wasn’t even busy. The food was not good either. I could make better at home. WAY better. Portions were small, quality was not good. Think twice before going there. Bad service, bad food. There are better Korean places to eat in the area.

Na bulgoki cho wah hae! Translation… I like bulgoki! It’s one of my favorite foods in the world and I usually buy it from the market to make & eat at home. A couple weeks ago I went for some singing & drinks with my BFF and with a little buzz going on we had an extreme craving for Korean goodness. When we walked in, there were tables but it wasn’t overly packed for a Saturday night. Waitresses walked by us standing there and took them a few minutes to acknowledge our presence and they said it would just be a moment. We waited some more and they finally came back and pointed us to a table we should sit at. We ordered our food, had good service, had a lovely time. Their starting items were very tasty and I enjoyed them. The bulgoki was good and had no issues with it at all. It runs $ 13 at Dae Jung Kum. As we ate, 80s music videos played on huge tv screens in the restaurant which was odd but added to the fun of the night. I love me some Korean food, but in my opinion there are many places better places in terms of food, atmosphere and service. I’ll pass on going to Dae Jang Kum again unless I’m in a jam.

As of just a couple of months ago, this restaurant has been under new management with new staff, new menus, and new style BUT no new name. They are still in the process of finalizing menu items and 86’ing items that aren’t working out or meeting up to their expectations. If you’re in the area craving some fantastic Korean food, definitely check it out!

Friday night at 7:30pm and this place was packed. I had high expectations because the place was bumpin’. You could hear the base from the Korean pop music from outside. Sadly, everything went downhill after we were seated. I was shocked that the stoves were broken and instead, portable stove tops were used instead. There were only two servers so service was very slow. Our waiter forgot to put in my order so I watched as everyone else ate their meal. By mid dinner, they had run out of kalbi and white rice. Despite everything else going wrong, I finally understood why this place was so popular. The food itself tasted good surprisingly. The kalbi was well marinated from the little that I had and the spicy Korean miso soup(daen chang jjigeh) was very flavorful. Note to non-Koreans: your server may speak some English, you must call out in order to get service, and anything served in a stone pot will be extremely hot.

This place is great. I had their signature dish lettuce wrap. For around $ 20, we could taste over 15 small dishes, and marinated pork, korean style omelette, grilled fish, soup and more, wrapping those food with lettuce(few kinds of lettuce) and eat. It’s very healthy.

The food is one of the best Korean BBQ places I eaten. The meat is frozen up until the customer puts it one the grill. All the side dishes are fresh. Few things that held me back from giving this place a full five star is the customer service and the proton of the rice. The waiters was more interested in baseball game then serving us. The rice portion is small, about 1⁄3 of a cup. There was enough side dishes to tone down the salted BBQ pork.

Still just as fantastic as ever! Their banchan selection is always amazing and generous, their dol sot bi bim bop is unmatched, and their service is friendly and awesome. DONOTGOANYWHEREELSEFORKOREAN! I have been going here for several years and I can safely say this is the best place in the suburbs.

Our server was so nice, he made a great recommendation and my girlfriend and I enjoyed it very much. This is a great place to try a new cuisine if you want to widen your tastes. Traditional style restaurant with a friendly, family-owned feel. It’s a place I’d like to return to, and I’ll tell my friends about it as well.

I already talked about this place in the Shin Jung review so I will make this as quick and painless as possible. If your Korean, then this place ain’t shit. It used to be THE shit when it was Shin Jung, but after the new owner took over earlier this year, all it is now is shit.

It used to be a buffet, but it’s definitely under new ownership. Honestly, I feel like I shouldn’t tell people about this little gem, because there’s a *lot* of love put into the dishes, in this family-run business. My coworker and I stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to find it under new ownership. We’re Chinese and Japanese, so we’re not snobs of Korean food, but we definitely dig this place. First off — check out the appetizer that looks like an omelet. They stuff squid, shrimp, and a ton of fresh veggies inside and serve it with a spicy(garlic, chili, etc.) «potsticker» sauce of sorts. Awesome. The panjan(side dishes) were all excellent, especially the kimchee. I ordered the mackerel, expecting to get a sauteed mackerel with rice, but they hooked me up with the whole fish(I’m a huge fan of fish served bone-in, head, and tail, as it seems fresher in my mind, although this didn’t have a head or tail). My friend, who’s crazy for bimbibap, loved his dish and commented on how jealous his wife would be that we found the place. We’ll definitely be back for lunch and with significant others. The atmosphere looks like they’re either in a transition period from the previous restaurant to the new one, but the food more than makes up for it.
