Had a great Birthday dinner here last night. Sautéed mushrooms were delicious and stuff friendly. And the complimentary mud pie was out of this world.

I had lunch this week at Bayside Café. Here’s how I would break it down: Quaint beachy location: 5 stars Wait at 1 pm on a weekday: 5 stars Service: solid 4 star Burrito: 3 star Prices/value: 3.5 stars Dogs welcome on the patio: 5 star! My friend and I both had wet burritos. Hers was chili verde and mine was tri tip. Both burritos were very large – definitely another meal for later. My burrito had perfectly cooked pinto beans and crunchy cabbage(yes, raw cabbage), a little cheese, and thin short strips of bland beef with no hint of grilling. No rice – but I don’t care for rice on burritos. The red sauce on top did its job but wasn’t especially flavorful. If I were to rate the food only, it would be 3 stars at best. Why the extra star? I love the location. As a newish local, I have often driven by but never had a chance to stop. It’s steps away from the bay, a little kayak rental shack and a short boardwalk walking trail that is wheelchair friendly. The Morro Beach State Park camping grounds is across the 2-lane drive and you can easily walk here. There’s a tiny kid-friendly museum and heron rookery within steps too. One tip: you can’t see the Bayside Café from the road or driveway. Trust me, it’s there. If you like a truly laid-back, kinda Gilligan Island feel, it’s here. And next time, I’m trying the cobbler that I saw in some of the other reviews!

Been there several times since I live nearby, and let me enlighten you all. The food is bland at best and overpriced, just got a Caesar chicken salad for 15 $ where the grilled chicken tasted like… Well actually it had absolutely NO taste, and was rubbery. Calamari strips were way overpriced at 13 $ considering it was just a cheap calamari steak cut into strips, and wasn’t even pounded out, it was tough! Finally my wife said we are never coming back again, though I love the atmosphere and area… Just crappy overpriced food!

Enjoyable again! We’ve eaten here before during one of our stays across the street at the state park. Not only close but a great location for a nice meal. The food is well made. A little pricey for a casual eatery but worth it. Came on a very busy weekend and had to wait a little but nothing intolerable because the views make it an enjoyable time. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Hate to say too many good things. … then it’ll be too busy next time we’re here.

I have lived in Los Osos for 6 years now and have driven by Bayside Café dozens of times and heard many people talk up this cute little Café. Finally I had the chance to try it… Pretty much the only thing this café has going for them is the location. I ordered the fish and chips. I have had many fish and chips all over this coast, from pismo beach to morro bay, to cayucos. These were by far the worst :/The batter on this fish was not crispy, fell off when I tried to eat it, and tasted like they had been fried in the same oil for weeks. My husband ordered fried clam strips which were more breading than clam. My son ordered the children’s bean and cheese burrito which he was pleased with. All in all I was incredibly disappointed in what was suppose to be a local favorite spot. The prices here are ridiculously unreasonable for the poor quality of food served. It hurt me greatly to pay for food I could not eat. I will not be returning.

I can’t say enough about this gem of a place. Took my mom today as its one of her favorite places. She really was craving their clam chowder. Not only had the most amazing food but the service was the best I have experienced in a very long time. Genuinely wonderfully happy and helpful staff and the owner even came over to hug my mother and thank her for coming. I’m a huge foodie and am pretty picky about where I eat. This is my new favorite Oceanside café. I can’t wait to return.

This is our favorite place in Morro Bay! Beautiful dog-friendly deck with heaters and view of marina! GREAT food and GREAT service! And, it’s right across the street from one of our favorite campgrounds(Morro Bay State Park).

Just ate here for the first time in years. Really lovely place and delicious food. Not sure why we hadnt eaten here in so long, but we will definitely be returning in the future. Delicious soups, both their clam chowder and a special butternut squash with coconut curry… however there spicy soup is VERY spicy. I ordered the club sandwich and swapped the provolone for cheddar and swapped the tomatoes for cucumbers, they had no problem accomodating the request. the sandwich was delicious. my parents ordered a special which i wish i had ordered, it was a seafood pasta with a lemon basil cream sauce. truly delicious and tons of seafood. we all shared a berry crisp that was warm and incredibly delicious. service was as it should be and the view is beautiful.

This was the cutest place, I went there on a friends advice to have the Bosenberry Cobbler! D-lightful! They do serve a lot of food and the waitress was just so nice… one thing in the winter do not sit in the shade… too cold but they moved us to a sunny table which was perfect!

Amazing food, yummy homemade desserts and GF options that were easy to find! Our server Lori was lovely and after a New Years Day hike, our lunch hit the spot! Crab cake sandwich was a winner and so were the nachos that were loaded! Best dessert was the mud pie but a close second was the Chocolate Oblivion! Fortunately we are local enough, that we will be back!

This little restaurant is a gem. We easily walked from the Morro Beach campground. We were greeted by the management like old friends. Service was wonderful and the food delicious. Portion sizes were abundant. We definitely will return.

This place is awesome! Right across from Morro Bay State Park, and a perfect location to grab lunch. Sat outside with my family our dog(they brought her a water dish right away!) and we ordered Nachos which were HUGE and delicious! It comes with the works, which is just how I like it. My hubby and I shared soup(carrot curry soup and a green chili soup) both of which were great. My aunt got a «cup o beans» which was disappointing. The beans were dry and flavorless :(My parents got a beef dip, which they loved. Overall a good experience for a casual meal with good service.

Super nice! Views of the sea, nice food, friendly service. I love my salad! The tacos were more like a giant salad than tacos they had so much lettuce on them — but I thought that was great! They have specials every day which I recommend. Truly recommend this place!

Great small café, dog friendly. This is next to a small marina and state park that is a great walk. We came in with our dog still wet from swimming in the ocean and sat outside. They have a large local wine list and lots of heat lamps outside. This area is known for heavy fog but the heat was not needed when we were there. I had the California chowder which was a delicious blend of their green chile soup and clam chowder in a sour dough bowl. Service was excellent and friendly.

Bayside Café is a lovely spot for spending your evening, enjoying a delicious meal! The staff are genuinely thoughtful and helpful. I almost hate to tell anyone about it because it’s a locals favorite and best kept secret when the tourist count is high!

My friends and I were visiting Morro Bay and Bayside Café came as a recommendation as a place to get good food. We walked over as we were staying close by. If you do decide to drive, there is parking available. We put our name in and waited a few min for a table, it was like 2:30 when we went. We sat down and quickly placed our orders. I got the small order of the fish and chips. it was AMAZING. The seasoned batter on the flaky fish was perfect. Honestly, I don’t think they could get any better. The tarter sauce was a great consistency as well, not too thick. I would totally come back here!

This such a great place. The view and the food are excellent. It can get a little busy at times but it definitely worth it. We are repeat customers and will return for more

What a fun place to find! The ambiance was wonderful. Full view of the bay and we got an air show from the nearby military base. Nachos to start — do NOT miss out on this overloaded, delicious dish. Best ever! We had two orders of fish and chips and an order of tacos at the table. Fish was cooked well but could have used a little more draining of the oil. It was hot to the table! Tarter sauce was great! Tacos were good, not not anything spectacular. The setting was so great and the food was good. We’d eat here again! Note: it’s not at 10 State Park Rd. Its further down the road just past the Natural History Museum.

There were five of us in our party this afternoon, and we arrived at 2:30pm. It was only AFTER we were seated that I Unilocaled, and discovered they were to close in thirty minutes. The staff, however, never said or did anything to suggest that they were irritated or in a hurry. We were not the last ones to leave, and everyone was smiling even then. Our child had chicken strips and fries, which he loved. Two of our party had the Caesar Salad, one with Salmon, and they both complimented the mix of flavors. One had a BLT on whole wheat, and commented on the flavorful bacon cooked just right. I had the beef dip with a side salad, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The food can be highly recommended! The service was also impeccable. Orders were taken & filled quickly, glasses were kept full, and the interaction was friendly. The prices were on the high side, as you might expect from a place right in the water. It was a great value, and we’ll be back soon!
