Ordered water to start and waitress never came back to table. She checked on other tables and clearly ignored the table.

We didn’t go inside but it was really nice sitting outside and the veggie burger is yummy. The burgers are HUGE! You’ve been warned, take it easy with the toppings! They have a lot of beer options which is awesome!

Came here on a Friday night and sat on the patio. Unfortunately they were out of hot wings which is what I really wanted but I settled for buffalo chicken fingers. They weren’t the best tasted like they were recently frozen. The drinks were good and the server was pleasant. There was an $ 8 cover to get inside and they had a really good band with some nice 90s at covers. All in all a good spot for a Friday night.

Came here a few times within the past few months. Nice place to catch up with friends over a few drinks. No official drink menu aside from their daily specials, so I guess the options are endless! They have some local bands play on weekend nights which is nice, but otherwise it’s a very relaxed atmosphere. One odd thing, the first time I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night, there was a cover charge of $ 5??? I’m not sure if that’s a regular thing on weekends because I’ve only ever gone since on weekdays. But $ 5 for a cover for a bar in Montclair was just so weird! We didn’t even end up going in. But anyways like I said, hasn’t happened since.

This place is ridiculous to charge a damn cover! Like hello, I’m gonna drink so wtf, I’ll be spending money anyway. I like the live music scene but sorry I’m on a budget and we ended up going to another bar, that had no cover, and a band. We ordered shots, rounds of alcohol, and food. This place is off my list.

The place is convenient with a public lot nearby. I want to love it, but the service is just awful.

My girlfriends & I decided to come here because it said there was outdoor seating and it was beautiful out on Sunday. Their outdoor seating was ok, but there was a building blocking the sun, so it was kind of chilly. So we just wanted to hang out and get drinks, however there is no drink menu. Super weird for a bar. So our waitress, tried to tell us all of their drinks but missed a lot because they should have a menu! Our waitress was interesting. Like we thought she was new and didnt know much, but she wasnt. Like she just wasnt trying at all. We would try to get her attention and she would be chit chatting with her coworkers near the bar. So it took us 40 mins to get our check, which is crazy. Next, there was a live band, a couple of older gentlemen, they were nice however, the only downside was it 4PM on a Sunday, and how loud the music was felt like I was at a house party at 3AM. We couldnt even have a conversation.

I was recently here to catch up with an old college friend who works in the local area. I have been here several times and here’s what I enjoy about this place: 1) Community environment — The staff is professional and friendly. Just by observing, you can tell there are many regulars who show up here, based on how they interact with the staff. 2) Great bar food — The burgers here are exceptionally well done! They are consistently cooked to maximize all the juices and flavors of the meat, without compromising the integrity of the burger. 3) Good on-tap beer selection — You can order anything from the staple macro brews to niche craft brews, native to the region. 4) Nice energy — depending on the night of the week, you can usually find anything from flip cup tournaments to live bands performing on stage! 5) Solid ambiance — Maintains a blue-collar, working man’s bar-feel, while select modern updates, such as a digital-format jukebox, propel this bar into the 21st century.

I like this bar. Is it a fancy? No. Is the crowd classy? Usually not. But I’ve been here a few times and the drinks are cheap and the staff is friendly. We stopped in for a drink before a concert Saturday and I was surprised to find there was a cover since there was a band playing there. We almost didn’t go in and told the staff we just wanted to get a drink before our concert. Surprisingly, they let us in with no cover which I really appreciated. There were a few bartenders working and all of them were friendly and attentive. I can’t speak for the food here, but this is a good place to stop by if you’re just looking for a drink or two.

Five reasons for five stars: 1. Happy hour is the best deal in Montclair with lots of choice 2. Atmosphere is great, not too loud, not too quiet 3. Despite previous reviews, in my experience the crowd is diverse, however you measure it, not all college kids 4. Food is above average bar food 5. Great staff, Monika is the biggest sweetheart 6. Bonus point: if you stay late enough to hang out with the college kids the cover bands are ridiculously good

Came here for the first time last night to watch Garden State Radio(an amazing cover band btw) and had a great time! $ 8 cover charge with a complimentary coat check. Nice venue to watch shows in. Plenty of room on the floor to move around and dance like an idiot with your friends. They have a main bar with a few beers available on tap and a mini bar on the side. Majority of the night, my friends and I hung out by the mini bar. Cocktails were okay. Liquor I though was a little pricey for what you actually get. $ 8 for a small cup and about $ 13 for a larger one. Beer was super cheap though! Bartender was nice and attentive even with the place being as busy as it was. They have a nice patio outside which I can imagine being very nice in the summertime. The main bar seemed a little sloppy, it had a ton of money on it and was a little sticky, but whatever. I wouldn’t come back here on a regular night personally, but would absolutely come back to watch another show.

Great space — very long bar with TVs galore; ideal for watching football. Also, looks like they have stage set up for live music, really good layout for that. The bartender(the fat one, sorry don’t know his name), needs to get another job he doesn’t hate because he’s miserable. Even with an empty bar, you can’t get a drink here without flagging him down and when he does, he’s doing you the biggest favor of your life.

Fantastic! I loved the live music and great customer service. They have a pretty good selection of bar food and beer, both of which make me super happy.

My friend took me here on halloween eve. I can’t believe I haven’t been here sooner. Lifespeed was playing that night. The band had games and gave away free drinks to winners. They threw glowsticks and toilet paper’d us haha, good time good time! This was my very first time there and I had alot of fun. Great crowd it was so diverse. Had a pumpkin beer on tap by riverhorse. The drinks seem to be priced well. Parking was ok as long as you park in the lot around the corner because street parking is scarce. I would definitely come back, I just loved the atmosphere /vibe!

I’ve been to Jake’s multiple times over the past several years. From watching live music, to checking out a football game, or even paint night there is always something different to do besides eat and drink. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The walls are covered in TVs and they have the NFL Sunday Ticket if you’re interested in catching a game. There is also an outdoor seating area too which is nice in the warmer months. I have always come to Jakes for drinks but this past weekend I went for lunch while watching a football game. To start I ordered the buffalo wings which were excellent. Not too hot and just the right amount of tang to the sauce. I then ordered the grilled chicken sandwhich. This was essentially a piece of grilled chicken with lettuce, tomato, onion, and some swiss cheese. I would have liked an extra condiment, such a regular mayo or a chipotle mayo, to make the bread a little less dry. My girlfriend ordered the falafal sandwich. She pointed out that it was a little diffuclt to eat since it wasn’t in a pita pocket and just on two slices of pita bread. I would recommend Jakes to anyone stopping by the Montclair area for casual bar food or interested in some live music.

Ok after the anger went away, I decided to edit this review. So I just joined zog sports for their volleyball league. Just jakes is literally around the corner so on Tuesday nights we go here after our game for food and trivia. The food is delicious !! That’s the great part but their service does not match up. If it’s busy they get frazzled and get attitudes. We had a great server though that was attentive !! But it was the manager that had an issue with me. Little ol me? Came on a Tuesday night around 815 and they had a bunch of people. We waited for a table, no problem. We kept asking if the wait would be long because if not we had no problem sitting outside. Manager got snippy and said«what you want me to do, kick them out?» We weren’t asking to be rude we were asking so we can go outside and get service out there. So we get seated in about 20 min, not bad ! Then after seeing a group of 8 being seated and taking orders I got up and asked for our waiter to see why didn’t we get service. Simple question I asked the bar, «which one is our waiter, we would like to order. Another table was seated after and they ordered.» Oh no she didn’t like that. Came to our table just to tell me that«we are very busy, I am the manager and you need to be patient. No need to be so rude.» She called me rude. I can’t believe it. I know customer service and I was not rude to her. She needed a chill pill. Shaking me head. Do better.

Decent bar food and happy hour drinks if you’re down for an after-work dinner with colleagues. the food won’t blow you away, but it’s definitely better than Applebee’s/Hooters/you name it. There is plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, which is a plus. The service was ok, but friendly. We were here for Paint Nite and they were more than happy to serve us drinks while we painted. Drinks were not bad and the ambiance made the entire evening enjoyable. I wouldn’t come here on purpose to enjoy the food but I wouldn’t mind coming here as a venue to hang out with coworkers or friends.

My friends and I have been meaning to find new bars in the area that cater to our age group since the ones we used to go to are usually overrun by half of the kids we go to school with. We decided to try out Just Jake’s simply by suggestion and I gotta say, it was a good choice. From the outside, it doesn’t look too visually appealing to be honest. Kinda like a warehouse or an old consignment shop. But when you go in, it gets slightly better. The place has a local watering hole kind of vibe to it and I’ll be honest when I say this, if you’re one of those people who love going to places simply for the atmosphere then I would say you’re out of luck. BUT if you’re one of those people who love a good time out with some of your closest friends and having a few drinks, Just Jake’s is just for you. We went on Thursday where they had this deal for 3 beers for $ 5. Unfortunately I didn’t like any of the beers they were offering, so I opted for a Jack & Coke and 2 Blue Moons. I love me a cocktail, especially with Jack Daniels, and Kenny the Bartender made it strong and perfect. The entire vibe of the place is just an overall good feeling. No fights, no drama, just fun and laughter. I’m definitely coming back here next time.

Always a good time when you go to Jake’s. Been coming here now for a year or two and each time there’s something different to offer. I’ve been here on a Saturday night with a live band. Fun experience and a good crowd. I’ve been here on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon after Zog sporting activities and I’ve sat inside and outside. Outdoors, they have a cute set up where you can hang with friends and chill. I can’t complain about a crowd, it always seems full but not over capacity. Food is also pretty good. I was here yesterday and got the steak fingers which were super good! The staff in all my experiences has been friendly. Sometimes when the back lot is full, it can be tricky to find a parking spot or if Jake’s has a local event, you can’t always get into the place so you are kind of pushed away. If you’re in the Montclair area, definitely check out Just Jake’s.
