one and done… 5 bacon egg and cheeses a couple milk shakes and 1 coffee. $ 47 bucks. No thanks. I’ll hit Mr Macs or Bills and be out the door for $ 23. Did I mention this place didnt even come close to the quality of sandwich at either of those places? How can you screw up an egg sandwich??? Yea, I am all set. Bring back the old diner. I miss Bob Ross propping up the bar.

SATURDAYMID-MORNINGBREAKFASTREVIEW I would have given 4 stars but they fell extremely short on service. We were seated and forgotten. I had to go up and remind them that we were waiting for awhile. To their credit, everything kicked into overdrive for our initial order. The downside was that we waited an extremely long time to get our food and we also had to get someone’s attention to get a coffee refill. The place was busy but there’s no excuse when your delivering food to the table next to us and you never even look our way. It’s just too easy to ask how we’re doing. No complaints on the food. The diner is clean and modern looking. If they worked on their timing, they have the potential to be great.

The local diner was where you used to go for a good belly busting meal that had the advantage of being inexpensive – actually I meant to write cheap. Not so much anymore. Stop here for a few pancakes, add some bacon and you’re pushing eight bucks, and we haven’t added in coffee. You can opt for a three egg omelette and get home fries and toast but add some bacon or sausage and you’re back at ten bucks. Should you stop by for one of the dinner specials like lemon chicken or snapper and it’s twenty bucks. And you don’t want to add an appetizer or you could add another 10 bucks to the tab. Not what I had hoped for. If the food was exceptional or the service was great then maybe, but not my experience here. I know the restaurant business is tough and margins can be thin but at least make sure your staff goes out of their way to make sure the customer feels good about the bill.

Good diner food, rude staff. Wasn’t given utensils when we sat down. When our food came, we asked for some. Instead of grabbing forks so we could enjoy our warm food, the waiter said ok, and then took another tables order for 10 minutes while we waited for something to eat our eggs with. Then as we were settling up, instead of walking over to ask if everything was ok, the manager looked over the divider and said are you done? 3 stars for food, 1 star for service.

Always good quality food and service however a bit pricey. My favorite is the wrap with the grilled chicken and Greek salad in it, it is delicious and filling! Their burgers are great and salads are huge. I would recommend based on food not on price.

Consistent, reliable, always good. What can one say about a diner? Food always fresh and flavorful? Check. Service swift and competent? Check. Friendly, social regulars open to pleasant conversation with wayfarers? Check. Always clean(to the point of being downright spotless)? Check. By all those standards and many more, the Monroe Diner is a welcome member of our neighborhood. Run by a wonderful family who were born with the«diner gene,» one or more are always there keeping eye. Portions are ample to borderline excessive, coffee is always excellent. If you are in the area, this place does not miss.

The new diner looks great. This town really needed the diner to reopen. The food is good, not great. The place is clean. The prices are out of control. This place is the most expensive diner I ever ate at. I had a Greek salad the other day and they charged me $ 19 for it. Most places in the area are half that for a Greek salad.

The food is great and so is the service. I live within walking distance and my friends and I love to eat there; however, the reason it isn’t 5 stars is the pricing. For diner food, it is pricy. Overall great experience though.

Three stars with a caveat. When ordering bacon ask for fresh or extra crispy. I just had bacon that was recooked from yesterday. We have had good meals here and some misses. This was a big miss. Go to Kings fresh food, more expensive but way better than here.

I’m not going here anymore. Today was the last straw. I came here for breakfast with a friend and it was a lousy experience. The waitress we had was snarky and made a comment about my meal choice, assuming I was on a special diet because of what I ordered. Incredibly rude! The friend I was with is a waiter himself and he was pretty disgusted by her. She left our ticket on the table when I wasn’t even half done eating, which usually doesnt bug me but I felt like she was trying to rush us. When I went up to pay, I handed the guy(he looked like an owner or manager) our ticket and he didn’t say a word, he didn’t even give me the total of my order. He just stuck his hand out and gave me this cocky look like«um, duh, you have to pay me now». I don’t know what the deal was with these people; I don’t know if they were being so condescending with me because I’m a twenty-something-year-old kid and they thought I was a no good punk, but I definitely left here today feeling totally unwelcomed. Won’t be coming back.

Stopped in for quick bite. Stephani waited on me and she was very friendly and welcoming. Started with Caesar salad. Lettuce was nice and fresh. Only part I did not like hit some pieces which tasted as if on edge of freazing and had icy taste. For main course went with open Steak sandwich. Nice big piece of steak with little fat. The frys were perfectly cooked to nice golden crisp. Coleslaw was very good perfect mix of mayo. Ended dinner with nice chocolate moouse. Prices are in line and menu is extensive. Place is sparking clean including restrooms. Appears owners take pride in their establishment.

Ate there late last night and thought the food was pretty good. My husband had a corned beef reuben and I had a greek salad wrap. My wrap could’ve used a few more tomotoes, but otherwise everything was fresh and tasty. Plus, this is the cleanest diner I’ve ever been in. Huge plus! Waitress was very friendly too.

The Monroe Diner is my favorite place to stop for lunch and dinner when I’m back home in CT! Awesome service and awesome food! A+ for the interior — classic diner look but with a modern twist. This is the perfect place to catch up with friends. My favorite for lunch is definitely their salads– especially the Greek Salad. I usually find myself choosing between the salads or their specials(they change daily). I could seriously come eat here every single day. I can’t wait to be back in the area to stop by! Keep up the good work!

Lot of bad Unilocal reviews for the Monroe Diner, but it didn’t stop us from having breakfast there yesterday. We went with our«standard diner order» for breakfast — me, pancakes w/a side of sausage, her, a bacon, cheese & tomato omelet. Honestly, everything was decent and fresh tasting, couldn’t complain about anything on our plates. Service was excellent, Mary B was our waitress, she was friendly and attentive. The Monroe Diner met our expectations for a solidly good breakfast, we will certainly be back when in the area.

Great to be back at the ‘new’ Diner after 12 years or so! The old one had more energy and always seemed to be crowded and full, and Sundays there were super full. Had a cheeseburger and gyros and French onion soup, but the ones at the old place were greasier and more tasty and came wrapped in foil. Still good, tho. I don’t think new one is open 24 hours?!

My daughter wants to give this place 850,000 stars. This is one of the few places in Fairfield county where she can get matzoh ball soup for dinner and lollipops for dessert. Husband and I like it too. Five stars on a scale of diners.
