It isn’t upscale and doesn’t pretend to be. It’s a diner that serves breakfast and lunch and does both well.

This one of our favorite if not favorite restaurants in the Mission area. It does not matter if it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food will always be delicious and the quality is always consistent. The wait staff are the best in the Valley. The prices cannot be beat. We eat here all year long and the food stays the same.

Going to Diaz Dinner is like stepping back in time 20 years! The hand of time seems to have frozen here and thats just the way they like it. The food is fresh and service is friendly. Look out for our mayor when you visit. He is a frequent flier.

Expect it to be crowded, but expect tasty food as well. There is nothing like a mom and pop restaurant for good food, this place embodies that perfectly. My personal favorite is the fajita nachos, the beef is so succulent. The meatloaf is good too, the fried shrimp melt in your mouth. Good consistency in their kitchen. It’s true that a lot of older generations go there to dine but really you’ll see everyone there, love that atmosphere, very«home sweet home-ish»

We have been ordering their botana platters to go for over ten years now. They are unbelievably tasty! They are often packed with winter texans and who can blame them? They serve huge portions and a good breakfast. Keep in mind the Sunday after church crowd is pretty substantial.

The Diaz Diner will be our new local favorite from now on. For the 2nd Sunday in a row we have slipped in for a quick late breakfast. They do a great job with eggs! The chorizo is terrific. The portions are generous & the price is right. Service is friendly. And it really was not crowded at all today. Last week there was an after church family that played their own mariachi music celebrating a birthday. So fun!

Breakfasts are wonderful and very popular. Just had lunch there and had the best chicken nachos ever — fresh ingredients, generous with guacamole. Friendly, attentive staff. See photos for my chicken nacho photo. Nice that they allow half orders on the nachos — it was the perfect amount of food for me. It was so good that had there not been people around I probably would have licked the plate!

This is probably Mission/McAllen’s favorite hidden Mexican food restaurant. A favorite among winter Texans especially. My parents have been regulars for several years now, and I make sure to eat there at least once each time I’m in town. Good, authentic Mexican food. Good for breakfast OR lunch. Typically packed. And extremely cheap(i.e., affordable), so well worth the value.

I don’t know how to review this restaurant. It was truly the worst mexican food I have ever had. In a town with fantastic, cheap mexican food on every street corner, I can’t imagine why anyone would eat mexican here. However, they also had american diner-type food and specials, that seemed to be great. Hubby had the Friday fish special, and it was really great. And the place was totally packed(admittedly, the average age in the room was 80+), but still, with that many people, literally standing room only, there must be something good about the place. Just don’t try the mexican food, unless you are a fan of american cheese enchiladas, and stale chips made from flour tortillas(really!?)

I can’t even describe how good this food is. Let’s just say I went there yesterday for the first time and I was starving. Not only did I take a goodie bag home with my leftovers… which practically equals another whole meal but I ALSO am planning on returning soon… like TODAY! Yes it really was THATGOOD! Get the beef enchiladas or the beef burrito, and you have to get the sweet tea… best I’ve tasted in the Valley so far. Accompanied w/lime of course. Great food, cheap prices, friendly staff… doesn’t get any better!
