We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened and we have yet to find anything we have not liked. This place is constantly coming up with new menu items. My favorite is the authentic Mexican food items, especially the barbacoa. I just tried the carne de puerco con chile verde. It was very spicy and we made our own burritos by rolling the pork and gravy up in the tortillas. It was awesome. I am starting a low carb diet next week so was splurging today. The owner, Adrian, then came to my table and showed me everything he could make and keep me low carb. Yippee I will b back next weekend. Love this place!!!

Amazing! Authentic mexican food, but with a healthy fresh twist. We left there feeling satisfied and with no grease hangover. Service was spot on and extremely friendly!

The real deal. Chorizo queso was excellent followed by delicious street tacos. A great neighborhood restaurant. We will be back.

This is the only Mexican restaurant I go to… I love nearly everything thing they serve… I usually get the shredded beef street tacos and get the charro or barracho? Beans instead of refried… sooo good… definitely check it out!

We were leaving Lake Mineral Wells State Park after a weekend camping trip and we were craving Mexican food. If you live in Mineral Wells or are just passing through town, this is the place to go! The food was delicious and very authentic. The prices are good and the service is friendly. Their salsa is fabulous; we poured our leftover salsas into a cup and brought it home… my family fought over it later! I would drive from Flower Mound to Mineral Wells just to eat here again.

Wow!!! We had shrimp cocktail and the Sunday Special, which was Picadillo, rice, beans, and avocado salad. This is authentic as you are going to get north of the Rio Grande Valley. I happened to get a sneak peek at the kitchen, and it was stocked full of fresh vegetables and sauces and homage tortillas, not to mention the fact that it was spotless. We cannot say enough about this treasure of a find. It is tucked in a neighborhood and well worth following whatever mapping system you use to find Taqueria La Estrella.

Before going to the restaurant, I decided to do my research: What exactly is a taquería? It may very well be a taco shop, but I wanted to make sure. Google translate informed me that it is «a building that encloses the alleged perpetrators of a crime», and«la estrella» means«the star». I wonder is the name a subtle way to confess that they are harboring a famous fugitive? Most likely they were going for the third definition, which is «an eatery where rolled corn tortillas are sold». I’m not a corn tortilla fan, but Mexican food is to die for. After winding through a neighborhood and arriving at the restaurant that shares a building with a convenience store, I stared at the menu for a few minutes before the cashier informed me of the special of the day — two gorditas with rice and beans. «Try something new», she said. Now, that sounded like a challenge so I ordered it to go. It was quickly prepared and I was out of the door in less time than it took me to order. «Ahh, so that’s what a gordita is». I really had no idea what I was ordering besides the fact that I chose chicken as the meat. The rice and beans were abnormally good. The refried beans actually resembled beans instead of that chalky brown paste that normally comes on the side. Once again, I do not like corn tortillas, so the order was probably not the smartest but i had to «try something new». I also don’t know the proper way to eat a gordita but i was in the comfort of my own kitchen and it really didn’t matter. The top gordita was okay… it really was sparsely seasoned and was just some chicken stuffed in a tortilla pocket. The bottom one was doused in grease which may be a result of me eating it 30 minutes after it was prepared. The food seemed like authentic Mexican food, but I’m just left with a mediocre impression and slight disappointment after anticipating a 5-star meal.

Best in town. Bring your own beer. Awesome service and fresh true Mexican food. My personal favorite is the Chile Rellenos.

We really like the food here, the chips and hot sauce alone we’re excellent. I could drink this hot sauce. I wish we could have the recipe for it. But we will drive from Weatherford to get several containers of it at a time to go.

Good food at a good price. Burrito and street tacos were delicious. Friendly, attentive service. They made a fresh pot of coffee for me and brought plenty of chips. Stephanie took good care of us. It’s a bit out of the way, in a neighborhood and next to a laundromat, but worth the search. A short drive from Lake Mineral Wells, where we were camping.

Where oh where have you been? You will be the only Mexican food place we’ll eat at when in Mineral Wells. I had the street tacos and my husband had the Sunday special!

I have been eating at the Tacqueria since it opened and I have not found anything that I did not like. The food is not Tex Mex but authentic mexican food. The staff is nice and the food is always fresh and hot. I highly recommend the burros and the shrimp ala mexicana

Really liked it. Hubby had the combo taco plate with one ground beef, one cheek, one chicken fajita, and one pork. I had a bite of the cheek taco. Yum! I ordered the carne guisada. The meat was so tender it just melted in my mouth. It came with rice, some really good refried beans and a scoop of homemade guac. Nothing but good!!! Definitely recommend giving it a try.
