Ace Adventure Center

My husband and daughter had rafted on the New River through Ace Adventures in the past and had a good experience, but this time we brought the entire family (2 adults with 16yr and 18yr old daughters) and tried the Upper Gauley more advanced day trip and had an awesome time. The river was running at fall levels due to recent rainfalls so we got very lucky! All our guides were very knowledgable, very thorough about covering safety points and great about navigating through five class V rapids and others. Excellent time and would love to do it again. Highly recommended and special kudos to our raft guide Jeff Cogley for making it a very memorable time.

We went on the Upper New one day rafting trip with our 5 and 7 year olds and it was awesome.
First, it was a 9am Sunday trip and the four of us were the only ones on and Ace did *not* cancel the trip. Many other companies would have cancelled — they told us on the phone — and pushed us to the 10am trip. But we had almost 400 miles to drive afterwards and wanted as early a trip as possible. In addition, the 10am trip had 50 people on it.
Second, the guide — Chris Hall — was great. He was knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. He took care of us and the kids had a great time rafting, swimming, floating down the river, etc.
Third, the lunch was very good and was actually a hot lunch. Another organization we used a few years ago just had cold cuts.
Overall, a definite five star. We were so impressed with Ace as an organization we are planning on going back for other activities.

Nice camping and cabins. Good food at the buffet dinners. Basic artery bombs at breakfast. Lake full of inflatable toys for the summer. Attentive friendly staff. Cabins with hot tubs!
Several different rafting companies operate out of here. They’ve go ATVs, mountain bikes, zip line etc. Fun outdoor stuff abounds.
