Always great friendly service combined with hot soup and great sub. Best veggie sub I have had so far at a chain!

Although the subs and soups are definitely worth the price I’m not sure about the wait… the staff is always courteous, the subs always look delectable and the soups are always delicious BUT(and this is a BIG«but») if you order for delivery expect to wait at least an hour for your food! It’s a huge disappointment because it’s not the driver or staffs fault… it’s all on the shoulders of the hiring staff! They’re short handed and have been FORWEEKS. I order from the Milwaukee downtown location about 3 – 4 times a month and these past two months have been grueling when it comes to delivery service! I’ve kept track of when I order and wait 60 minutes before I call to ensure my order was taken. The excuse is always«we’re short on drivers, your food will be there shortly.» It’s heartbreaking to write this review because it’s a great place for subs, just not so great on delivery. Bah!

Erbert and Gerberts is good both in store and delivered. They have the classic subs and a good mix of new ones. My personal favorite is the Titan, it comes with a pesto mayo ! They offer online ordering. I swear as soon as I pressed enter it was delivered to my door. Jimmy johns should call Erbert and Gerberts big daddy. Skip the normal chili and order the blanco chicken chili instead :)

Wow, quality must have gone way down. Laziness way up? These are by far the worst sandwiches we’ve ordered from this neighborhood place. Our sandwiches were just dropped off by the delivery driver and we were eager to eat them. Only thing is it looks like our sandwiches, if you can call them that, were put together by a 6yr old who hates everything but the bread. lol. I ordered the Narmer and the SO ordered their fav, the pepadew mustard. Waste of $! I lost interest in my bread sandwich a few bites in. I guess you get what you pay for but I’ve spent $ 5 – 7 on a sub before and was plenty satisfied.

I really wish there were more Erbs and Gerbs locations around Milwaukee. Every time I eat a sub here, it reminds me how much it blows away the subs I’m used to from Subway, Jimmy Johns and Cousins. The meat is better than all 3, the bread is much better than all 3, and the prices are consistent with all 3. I mean, the meat tastes real, which is definitely more than you can say about Subway and Jimmy Johns and the bread is absolutely delicious.

I am a big fan of Erbert & Gerbert’s on Farwell. First off, they are very friendly and chill. I love the quirkiness of each sub having its own lore and illustration, which is a fun thing to read while waiting for your order. They also give you the«guts» aka the breading of the sub that is removed from the sandwich; it’s perfect for dipping with a side of soup or eating on its own. They are open late and just recently started accepting Discover cards, which is great for me because my primary credit card is Discover. They also have a strong social media presence and quite a following in other cities, not just Milwaukee. Their delivery is also great and I’ve never had a problem with a wrong order or anything like that. It is also one of very few sub chains that offer a seafood sub. One downside is that they can get a little pricey, so if you’re on a college budget, it’s not really viable to order a meal here that often. tl;dr good subs, a little pricey, well managed

I’ve eaten at E&Gs plenty of times but this was my first at this location. I don’t know if I’m just getting more crotchety and picky with age or what but I wasn’t that impressed with my meal today. It wasn’t terrible by any means, it was your normal run of the mill sub but it did not wow as others suggest but it could potentially be just the luck of what I ordered. I got the normer(turkey, lettuce, tomato, avacado, mayo) on wheat. For me, too much mayo but I don’t really like mayo to begin with so my mistake for not reading closely. My real issue was with the soup I ordered. It was broccoli cheddar, pretty standard. In the picture on the menu, it had chunks of broccoli so I got pretty excited for that but when I got my cup no such chunks existed. Oh well. Gave it three stars because I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it. I’ll give it another shot as I do love a good sub.

Great subs, fast service, and really helpful staff. I would even go out on a limb and say they deliver faster than jimmy johns, plus its waaaay better quality. My favorite is the narmer, but its best with bacon added to it(which was a staff members suggestion). They even have a great selection of soup to pair with your sub. Erbert and Gerberts is always good, whether its for lunch or a quick bite between bars. PS, they cater too!

Don’t order the erupter! It’s a cold buffalo wing sub.

No problems with E&G member rewards now for well over a year. Still the best subs in town.

E&B’s makes good subs, unique subs. Really tasty subs you won’t find elsewhere. And they’re a Wisconsin company, so I like to support local. Now that I’m(mostly) gluten free due to an allergy I was excited because they offer all of their subs on gluten free bread. This is something no other sub chain that I know of does. So, while it had been a long time, my girlfriend and I stopped by to get me a gluten free sub. But that’s where I become a little displeased. First, E&B’s isn’t cheap to begin with. I don’t mind paying for a good sandwich made with good ingredients. However, the $ 2 upcharge on the gluten free bread pushed the sandwich towards unreasonable. I understand paying a little more, but it’s a 6″ sub. In fact, I compared my sub to my girlfriend’s regular sub and mine was a good 2″ shorter. So I paid more for less. The bread is made by Udi’s, a well known name in gluten-free bread, and it was pretty good. I did enjoy the sub, but my bill for two basic subs and a small soda was over $ 16. The subs were prepared quickly so there wasn’t a long wait. But I didn’t like that the person taking my order wouldn’t come to the register. I had to talk with him across the room where they made the subs which made it a little difficult to understand(and really, it’s a little rude). I don’t discount future trips to E&B’s but it will be after other options are exhausted.

A-OK. I enjoy the chicken chili at Erbs and Gerbs. I usually get the half sub and soup deal for 5.99. For some reason, I feel that it isn’t worth 5.99, maybe 4.99. The sub is really small. But I keep going back, because it is good and fast.

Consistent, yummy subs. Reminds me a lot of Jimmy John’s subs but the employees are slower and were not as on top of it as the service I’m used to at Jimmy’s. The wild rice soup was very tasty. I will definitely come back b/c it is close to my work but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

while the food seemed decent quality, it was not worth it. service was ok, kinda slow. overpriced for a sub shop. The sandwiches are very bland. The bread was very basic. The meat had little flavor as did the cheese. Maybe it’s too organic? Won’t be going back unless there’s a promotion.

Best subs this side of San Diego, soup too. When I want a sub, not Jimmy Johns or Cousins for this guy. Erb’s and Gerb’s ALLDAY. Their bread, and quality really just set them apart. I have never felt like their veggies are stale or old. To dive more into the soups, they have a chicken and wild rice that is delicious, and you can also get a few different types of chili’s that are quality stuff.

Overpriced small sandwiches. No quality control or attention to detail. staff probably needs better training or oversight. Two delivery orders placed via the internet(i.e. no miscommunication), and they were wrong and late both times. i’m through trying. Update — after ordering 30+ times online with Jimmy Johns, they have yet to mess up an order or take more than 20 minutes to deliver. It also takes me less than a minute to place an order. JJ’s prices and the quality/taste of the food are actually better too.

I’m not much of a sub person — I just can’t justify some of the prices charged for a sandwich I could essentially make at home. I will rarely choose a sub over the myriad of quick-dining options on the East Side. But I’d have an Erbert and Gerbert’s sub before I had any other. Much more than a simple ham and cheese(though they have those, too), EG provides unusual combinations that make you feel like you’re getting something for your money. They also have some damn delicious soup. Once upon a time they had a store downtown and delivered. The summer I worked down there I must have ordered them once a week. I haven’t had a soup of theirs that wasn’t hearty and delicious. The baked potato is thick and creamy. There’s a cheese and ham one that’s rib-sticking good. The beer cheese is as good as a Wisconsin cheese soup should be. I don’t go often because it’s a $ 10 meal when all is said and done and there are other places I’d rather spend that sort of money for dinner, but sometimes a girl just wants a Tappy and some soup. They sell yesterday’s bread for $ 1, which is awesome to buy and dunk in your soup. Not my first choice, mostly due to price, but definitely a place in my rotation and by far the best sub option, in my opinion.

This place is basically Jimmy John’s but instead of that gross, unwelcoming feeling you get when you walk in the door you get actual service… and the food is never legitimately rotten which as been my experience at other fast food sub shops. Yep, it’s basically fast food and it’s also a chain but within that scope it’s definitely worth five stars. There are sandwiches that have a little bit of personality, soups that taste like more than just salt and your expected sides of pickles, chips and desserts. Usually a place like this wouldn’t be worth reviewing, but in the ever-homogenizing bro’d out culture that exists on and just off of North Avenue in Milwaukee, there are like three options left for decent quality food at a low price. That number shrinks to one when it gets past midnight, and that’s E&G’s. The Pompeii(chile chicken salad with bacon) is my personal favorite, give it a shot!

Every Wednesday is Erbert & Gerbert’s day in my household. Their bread is fresh, the sandwich fillings are smart and tasty, and their staff is friendly and quick about sandwich making. The only sub place I know of that has a seafood sandwich with BACON. Need I say more?

This was a decent place for a sub. I stopped in here for quick snack one afternoon. I had the Turkey/Avocado sub. I don’t remember the name. I didn’t like how they had the avocado already made into a spread. I like to bit into my green goodness. But besides that, it was pretty decent.
