First let me tell you that I don’t like long lines and this event made me feel like I was in «line hell». We waited over 30 minutes to even enter and there were probably people that waited over an hour just for the privilege to walk in. Lines at the food vendors were chaotic. You didn’t know where one line started and the other ended. They need to better coordinate all aspects of this event. There weren’t many food vendors with bacon at the event. It was probably half food and half other bizarre people trying to sell services. When I go to a bacon themed event I don’t need a company trying to sell me waterproofing services unless you are going to plaster my basement walls with laminated waterproof bacon. The bright spot was the Saloon on Calhoun with their gelato in a bacon bowl which was by far the best bacon tasting there. Rich’s Cakes who actually marked your card for a tasting of a bacon spread on a ritz cracker was pathetic. Nobody else was marking cards so heaven forbid you would get an extra cracker. One of our tickets was comped so I didn’t feel too horrible about spending $ 35 for two people; however, if I would have spent $ 70 I would have been really ticked off. Baconfest you had so much potential but in the end you let me down.

If I could give this event negative stars, I would. The idea was great in theory, but what a cluster f… As a couple, we spent $ 70 + fees on tickets and got very little value for the money. The 2015 venue was FAR too small for the event. We opted to wait and come back 90 minutes later after seeing the horrendous line up to get in the door. When we did go back, we waited another 20 minutes to get inside. The PRE-ORDERED t shirts were unavailable. No Firekeeper’s Reward Points as promised on our tickets. What a bargain… I’m sure some fire code was violated — the room was so full it was hard to get close to the vendor booths. The samples we did get were pretty tasty, but a large number of vendors ran out of food. here were only 34 vendors, not the 75 as advertised. Make it 28… there were some that had nothing to do with bacon. An attorney(we can save your bacon?), a basement water-proofing company(?), a dog food company(bacon flavored kibble?), a taxi service, the Hunger Task Force(donate your bacon?) and a financial group. I’m sure the sponsor feels the event was a success. They certainly sold tickets. But from a customer viewpoint, it was a disaster. Never again, Baconfest, never again.
