An Elite Patio Par-tay at Oscar’s Pub and Grill

Hey great event! The delicious sliders and fried yum-​yums really hit the spot. The staff at Oscar’s was really friendly and even refilled my daughters squirt gun for me, which she promptly used to shoot me in the face. Great crowd inside, but we spent most of our time outside playing cornhole (well, more like throwing bean bags without much of a goal) and drinking the crisp Milwaukee Brewing Co. beer.
Had a blast, will definitely stop by Oscar’s again next time we’re in that part of town!

If you’re hanging with the Unilocal crowd, you know it’s going to be a good time. If it happens to be an Elite event, you know it’s going to be special. June’s Patio Par-​tay was no exception.
Another Unilocal recipe for success:
1. Gather the 414’s most active Unilocalers
2. Find an awesome venue that the 414 loves, and vice verse
3. Add some fried goodness (fried pickles rock!!)
4. Season with group games (whoo, at least I wasn’t «that guy» in Jenga.
4. Get our super cool CM Rachel F. to mix it all up, and…
5. Serve on a pretzel bun. I’m convinced life is always better when served on a pretzel bun.
Thanks again to Rachel and to Oscar. Super event at a super venue! I’ve never been to Oscar’s before, but I always wanted to go. Now I know what I was missing. Oscar is a super nice guy who is great for the community. I would like to reward him by eating his cheeseburgers until I have a heart attack. Respect.
Next time someone wants burgers, show ‘em your «O» face, and take ‘em down to Oscar’s!!!

First a big thanks to Rachel and Oscar’s Pub and Grill for throwing an amazing Elite Patio Par-​tay!!!
Upon check-​in I was challenged to a Rock, Scissor, Paper from Rachel. I brought a ringer with me and let her play but Rachel schooled her and showed why she is the champ. Rachel was nice enough to give us the prize of the coveted Red Unilocal sunglasses… now our summer is complete… I might never take them off.
Rachel had fun things for everyone all ready to go… board games, corn hole, squirt guns, Unilocal cards, and a giant jenga made from cut two by fours. The giant jenga was impressive and scary at the same time. I had wished I wore some steel toe boots to play this because I keep seeing my toe being crushed in my flip flop. Luckily I was out on the deck when I heard the giant crash of falling lumber. My feet were very happy to be safely outdoors.
I wish I had spent more time on the outdoor patio because the weather was perfect. There was a nice breeze blowing and some fun times being had outside. Yeah the squirt guns were getting a little use out here. We were also able to see the construction going on of the new deck… when finished it looks like the old deck will be triple in size… do not quote me on that because I did not take out a ruler and a calculator to come up with those numbers.
Rachel also was the perfect hostess too… making sure all of the Elite Unilocalers were having a good time. She even had a cooler of beer at check-​in and before I could say hello she was handing me a local brew. She rocks!!! The beer was really good to. It was called Louie’s Demise and I thought if I drink too many of these I may be following in Louie’s footsteps. Then I wondered who was Louie and what happen to Louie. Yes I went to Wikipedia to find out more!
When original Milwaukee Ale House (makers of Louie’s Demise) partners Jim McCabe and Mike Bieser were roommates and home-​brewers, they toasted a Bieser family photo because the guys were hoisting some dark lager in an old school mug. When they decided to go pro, they asked the Bieser family for the story on the photo. Turns out they are at the wake for great-​great uncle Louie Eishold. Upon further investigation, they found that he died from a blow to the head in a Sheboygan tavern, in 1886. At that point they decided they had been toasting Louie’s Demise-​thus the name.
Great…I am so glad to be alive today and not going out like Uncle Louie… but I did laugh to think we were toasting some guy who died in a Wisconsin Tavern 127 years ago. But I needed to know more… why did this happen?
Louie had it coming, and it WAS over a woman. He was picking a fight with another bar patron over the man’s wife. After a scuffle moved outside, Louie was sent on his way bruised up. Near closing time, he had returned. A fight escalated, and Scheizer clocked Louie with a beer glass. The wound didn’t kill him right away, but he died a few days later. Scietzer was aquitted as the court decided Louie started it, and William finished it-​in self defense. If we can learn anything from this, it’s that very little good happens at bar time.
So a moment of silence for Uncle Louie!!!
Okay back to the party!!! Hopefully I did not bring anyone down… but every good party needs a good story… unfortunately it came as Louie’s Demise!!! That is a great name for a beer based of the history of the story. I am going to need a six pack in my fridge at all times so I can tell everyone!!!
The food was really good. Oscar’s Pub and Grill hit us with everything and I honestly can say that everything was really good. We started out with the chicken wings and they were very tasty and not too spicy. The mini burgers were amazing. The little buns were so good… they were picture perfect… if you do not believe me then check out my photos. They also cooked the burgers perfectly. The onion rings were good along with the deep fried green beans. The green beans were fresh too… you could see the bright green color inside and they had a nice snap to them when you bit into them. Jimmy’s nuggets were good… they were fried pieces of cheddar. We had french fries and the sweet potato fries were some of the best I have ever had. I can also not forget the Frickle Chips… what is that? Deep fried pickle slices… yum yum! The chicken tenders were also some of the best chicken tenders I have ever had. The seasoning was amazing and had just the right amount of pepper for a little kick. I am coming back here again after I go for a 10 mile run to lose what I gained! Yes it was some of the best pub food I have ever had.
It was also fun meeting new friends and old friends… George T, Stephanie L (your husband was cool and I can not wait to see some reviews from him… I am trying to get him to write some… so I am using peer pressure), Lisa A and Brandon S to name a few! It was fun hanging out with all of you… what a fun group on a beautiful Wisconsin Sunday!

Wows! So good to see so many familiar faces Rachel, Joanna, Brian, Ellie, Cassie, Heather, Kyle, Lisa trying new Milwaukee beer, Louis Demise and great burgers fries, frickles, green beans. I’m guessing the Onion rings were delicious since they disappeared so quickly. Overall the food was very impressive. Service at the bar was speedy and friendly.
We played cards games, Corn hole/​bags, Giant Jenga with new friends Stephanie Anthony, Sienna, Red, Annemarie, Barbara. Nothing is more fun than hearing the crash and the walk of shame from a falling gigantic Jenga game covered in Unilocal stickers. I wish I spent more time on the deck. Oh well, next time it will be 3x bigger and better too.
Special thanks to Oscar, Rachel and staff for hosting the Unilocal patio party. It was a fun time with food, drink, and great people.

This was a super fun, chill event at a really cool place. Oscar’s is a huge asset to this neighborhood.
Thank you SO much, Oscar’s staff, for making a couple special black bean burgers for the non-​meat eaters! I enjoyed mine a lot, along with the many fried foods — pickles and cheese curds being my favorites.

On a glorious summer day, we had a glorious summer patio party hosted by the awesome duo of Rachel F and Oscar’s. Did I mention it was awesome?
This party had everything required for a great time: tasty beer from MKE brewing, deep fried/​burger goodness, rowdy friends from Unilocal,fun games and very friendly hosts at Oscar’s.
Personally, I can’t wait to head back to Oscar’s for dinner and destroy a black bean burger. Coming from a girl who loves meat (add your joke here) that’s high praise indeed.
I will say that the games of Apples to Apples were rigged in Kyle K’s favor though… when the category is «bogus» the Bruce Willis card should automatically win. Just sayin’.
