Their Chicken dishes are great. Very meaty and tasty. Their shrimp fried rice is the best in town.

The food wasn’t horrid, but the service was! If you’re not a fan of understanding cooked broccoli, I would probably skip this place. If they screw your order up or it taste bad, they don’t care. You still pay! I won’t ever go back!

Moon Garden is our favorite Chinese place in west Texas. Yes there are better places out of town, but this is the best we have. The hot and sour soup is very good and I normally just order the chicken fried rice. Very good quality food and service from Amy and Chloe.

Just moved here a few months ago. Really good food and the service was even better. Hard to find acceptable service in this town but this was great. I’m definitely going back. Very friendly!

Excellent customer service, so-so food. Was craving Chinese/Asian food and found this spot. Granted, this is midland/Odessa so my expectations are very high. This place isn’t terrible but not great. When I first arrived and walked in, it was very quiet and calming. Chinese music and decorations adored the place. I was seated and began my experience. My waitress was exceptionally friendly. I mean suppper nice and well mannered. She took my drink order immediately and gave me some chips and some red sweet sauce which I have no idea what it is. I looked over the menu and knew what I wanted. This was around 7 on a Friday night and it wasn’t very busy so she was very attentive to me. I ordered the combo Kung Pao with shrimp, chicken, beef and a side of fried rice. The main dish wasn’t anything to brag about. The sauce was pretty good but the vegetables in the stir fry weren’t cooked long enough in my opinion. They didn’t have the opportunity to absorb or gain any flavor. The green peppers, peanuts and carrots were pretty plain. The dish was served hot, which was nice and showed me it was cooked to order. The fried rice was basically white rice with soy sauce. I found one pea in my cup of fried rice and a trace of egg. No other vegetable and spices were close to non existent. Overall, this place is average. The service is a 4 – 5 but the food, or at least what I had, was about at a 2. My waitress was sooooo nice and good but the food was so mediocre I can’t give it a higher rating than a 3. There were locals in there who obviously patron the place frequently so maybe they know or eat something I need to know. It’s Midland though. Surprised at the nice employees, not surprised at the sub-par food.

I’m giving this place 5 stars because this is literally the best Chinese place in Midland that isn’t a buffet and unfortunately that isn’t saying much. However if you want a place with friendly staff and food that actually has some flavor, this is it. Their steamed dumplings appetizer is pretty standard, drinks are always carbonated and never flat. The entrees themselves are plentiful in number, but here are some tried and true dishes that we’ve tried: –Hot and Spicy Chicken –Sesame Beef –Sweet and Sour meat combo(I forgot what it’s actually called it’s on the Chef’s Special list on the menu) –Lemon Chicken –Orange Beef –Sesame seed balls(it’s a desert item) If you don’t mind the somewhat strange décor inside(it did used to be a Red Lobster, after all) and maybe having to wait a bit when it gets busy, please give this place a shot. I’ve been to a number of Chinese and general Asian food places in Odessa and Midland and this is one of the better ones.

My family has gone many times to the moon garden. Though the interior is dated and dusty, the food has always tasted good and the price is fair. I really go for the crab meat wantons, the are wonderful. Today I went to have dinner with my husband and we got a big surprise. We found a worm in the food, cooked into the broccoli. The waitress let us know they do wash the vegetables but she didn’t seem all that concerned. That disturbed me very much. She didn’t even offer anything to correct the worm problem! We will not be going to this restaurant again.

My husband and I are from California and we have been having the hardest time finding that at home feel for our Chinese food, WEFOUNDIT!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Moon Garden! The waitress’ are great and very sweet! Don’t listen to the last review, «waited for 10 mins» SOWHAT?! probably busy; its family ran so there’s not a huge wait staff… Food is great! Best place to eat and its CLEAN!!!

I tried this place out after reading the reviews on Unilocal I have to say I was very pleased with the food and prices. It’s not much to look at from the outside but the food is great.

This is the best Chinese food in town. The location is an old red lobster, it’s weird but it doesn’t matter to me. The place usually is pretty empty but the food is great, a mystery to me. The sesame chicken is amazing. Never had a thing that’s not good here. Service is kinda slow and prices are reasonable.

We just moved here from Dallas. Odessa/Midland is very limited to Asian food. We have visited a couple Chinese restaurants that were ok. We came to Moon Garden and we fell in love with this place. I was starting to think that the only place we could find good Chinese was back home in Dallas until we tried Moon Garden. We ordered chicken/pork fried rice, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, broccoli beef and orange chicken. They were all good, but the orange chicken was exceptional! This is by far the best authentic Chinese food around town. I rate this place a 5+.

Terrible service, atmosphere was still the old Red Lobster with a few Chinese things hanging about, strange musty smell when we walked in too. The food was bland and prices were high. We won’t go back.

I took my family here for lunch based on the reviews and wasn’t disappointed. In fact it’s the best Chinese I’ve had in a while and I eat Chinese regularly. It was so good that one of the pickiest kids in our group actually cleaned their plate. That *never* happens. The waitress was very well — mannered and fast. The sweet and sour sauce was very good. The fried rice I had was a huge portion of happiness. Tender meat and perfectly seasoned. The restaurant is in an old Red Lobster so I was a bit leery at first but I found myself nostalgic when I stepped inside. Made me wonder again why Red Lobster moved away from this style. The current restaurant added their own touches so it feels more like a Chinese place inside. As a post-script I went to the bathroom and overheard some folks talking about how much they liked their food.

Whenever i visit my brother in Midland we made a stop at Moon Garden. Definitely the best Chinese in Midland. Atmosphere is not great, after all it is a 40-year old ex-Red Lobster restaurant. But, who goes to a Chinese restaurant for atmosphere? The Mongolian Beef is actually better than what I get at PF Changs in Dallas, and the portions are bigger. My brother always has the Moo Shoo Chicken. Egg rolls are cooked fresh and the soups are good too. We will return!

Best Chinese food in Midland. Not saying much, I know, but it really is good. They are never super busy so you can get in and out quickly. I love ordering takeout here. Great lunch specials!

We ordered the Mongolian Beef, Chicken with Vegetables in a brown sauce with extra garlic, Chicken LoMein and War Wonton Soup. All items were excellent except for the Chicken LoMein. Moon Garden uses the larger noodles and I prefer the smaller noodles(like those used at Panda Express). Also, there was no variety of ingredients in the Chicken LoMein. Only chicken and noodles. Some cabbage, celery, carrots would have lightened it up a little.

I was hoping for so much more. The reviews said best in town and now I’m scared for the rest of Midland’s Chinese Restaurants. The food was fine but fairly tasteless. I had the chicken lo mein for lunch and I was expecting great noodles but came out as boiled tasteless chicken with some tasteless boiled veggies with dry-fried-hard noodles from the grocery store. I really hate giving a poor review but my wife and I were just not impressed. The service was wonderful as well as the prices and quantity but the quality was missing.

Came here during the lunch hour. Big restaurant, but they only use like half of their dining area. I guess it used to be a Red Lobster. Anyhoo, the service is friendly and fast. I ordered a lunch special with hot and spicy chicken, fried rice, and won ton soup. Their won ton soup is delicious, I wish they had some hot chili pepper condiments laying around to add some kick to it. I really wanted some Generals Tsao Chicken or Orange Chicken but they didn’t have that on their lunch menu. The hot and spicy chicken was not spicy at all. Kinda tasted like sweet and sour sauce on it, it was good. The eggroll that came with the lunch, I didn’t care for… I’m not a fan of chinese style egg rolls. Fried rice is the best I had so far… here in west Texas. I would recommend this place for lunch.
