gotta say. still really good after not coming here for a while. asked chino what he got, he said he got sliders. ordered that along with the spicy italian sausage girlfriend and holydog fries. the sliders were really good and juicy. didnt seem like frozen meat. not sure if thats gonna be a regular on his menu but id like to have it again. as usual, left the place smelling like the grill/grease

So I’m a stickler for customer service and this place has it! We were first time customers today and left feeling like old friends. The hot dogs are just the way you want them with a crunch. All the toppings were fresh and amazing. Can’t wait to go back

If there was a major in hot dogs, I’d trade in my undergrad degree. Chino clearly holds the national heavyweight title for hot dog connoisseur. Wish he was open after 5pm on my way home as a pre-dinner snack. Probably just as well, my personal goal this quarter is to try everything on his menu. Although the siren song of his Italian sausage girlfriend style beguiles pretty much every time. Aim higher you say? Okay, I’ll shoot for his entire menu twice over this quarter. Means it’ll have to happen twice a week, divide and conquer. Oh darn.

Holy Crap! Some very fines dogs in this joint. And it is a joint, with a great owner who knows his stuff and some amazing ingredients. The key is in the toppings. I’d let Chino recommend the best and just go with it.

Chino the owner is an absolute genius of the culinary arts. He’s not limited to sausage burgers and dogs!!! I often get him to make me something off the menu just for me one of the perks of befriending a genius! He never dissapoints! If you haven’t been here before get here one time it will change your life. I promise you will never look at a hot dog the same after eating one of his many works of art. How fortunate is middletown to have him. 5 stars

This place is off the charts good ! Great food with an «Old School» owner who knew all of his regulars and was handing out samples as he waited for orders to finish cooking. The only disappointment I had was not knowing about this place sooner!

Very cool to have a great hot dog joint in town. Creative and a lot of attention put into the quality and combination of ingredients. I asked Hubs to pick up an order to bring home for lunch. I tried the mystery dog and I think there’s supposed to be crunchy chips as a topping. By the time I got to eat it I didn’t get the crunch but otherwise really good flavors. The bun is soft but not the kind you find at a backyard bbq and the hot dogs have great snap. I bet it’s even better when you eat it freshly made. Will have to come back and build my own.

I had heard good things about Holy Dog and after being a vegetarian for a while, once I was off the wagon, I knew it was time to hit up Holy Dog. I started by building my own dog, which there were a wide variety of toppings unlike anything you would find at a typical hot dog stand. Remoulade, chipotle mayo, etc., I opted for a somewhat traditional dog, chili, onions, mustard and pickles. The dog had a great snap to it and because of the grill was seasoned perfectly. It was at this point I told Chino(the owner) it was my first time there. Not only was he super friendly and knew all of his customers, he made a joke about me building my own dog on my first time there, so I said my second dog would be HIS choice. He asked me if I liked spicy, I said GAMEON and he made me a cheese wrapped dog with Chorizo, hot peppers, cilantro and tomato. It was off the chain! The dogs were delicious but Chino’s personality is what really makes this a special place. He’s got heart, a great smile, lots of stories and the best damn dogs I have ever had!

One of my co-workers raved about this place. I work in Middletown about 3 times a month so, I was really looking forward to eating here. I was not disappointed! Let me start by confirming, fancy it’s not! But, you will have the best hot dog you’ll ever have. I’ve had a Chicago Dog recently at Wrigley Field. Thought I’d have one if those. Somehow Chino, the owner knew I liked my food spicy. I expected my Chicago Dog but he presented me with a chili dog, telling me that’s what I really wanted. Man, was he right. It was amazing! I also got a Chilean Dog to make it lunch. It was pretty good with the sauerkraut and fresh avocado but, the Chili Dog was the star! IN addition to the dogs, Chino’s got some amazing stories of his childhood in China and Chile and his time in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in the 90’s. If you’re in Middletown, don’t pass up this gem!

Love ittttt… The sausage with grilled pineapple is amazing for 6 $ can’t beat it! BTW doesn’t accept cards so make sure you bring cash if you’re going!

Holy Dog is a great hotdog stand mostly because of the owner who puts great care into the food. The dogs are cooked perfectly. When you get cheese, it’s not some fake cheese whiz but rather cheese he melts individually on the grill. The character of this place is perfect, unpretentious, and cannot be duplicated. The Chilean Dog was my favorite. The one thing I don’t like about this place is that it closes at 5PM. It’s such a tease when you get out of work at 5 and know you can’t make it. I’ve learned the hard way they take their last order at 4:40PM.

Holydog is one of the best small eateries in Middletown, NY. It’s a very tiny shack on W. Main Street with a ironic large sized parking lot. It’s a bar style seating that seats about 6 or 7 people only. Upon entering, we were greeted by the friendly owner/cook. He’s one of the nicest owners I have ever met in my life. He’s Chilean, born in China of all places. He had a pretty unique story to his background. As we were looking at his menu board, he sliced a few pieces of sausages, topped it with his special delicious sauce and allowed us to sample them. It was by far the best tasting sausage i had in recent memory especially the way he paired with his homemade sauce. Hot dogs were all $ 3.00 each. $ 0.50 for additional toppings. We ordered the bacon and cheese dog, Chilean dog, southwestern dog, and the owner’s special«MYSTERYDOG». I took a bite out of the bacon and cheese dog and it was better than I expected. The owner uses quality ingredients and does not use low grade cheese. The Chilean dog was pretty special and the most different of all of the hot dogs we chosen. It was very light, topped with sauerkraut, slices of avocado and chipotle mayo sauce. I did not get to try the southwestern dog but according to my friend, he did not enjoy it as much as the other hot dogs. The last, the special mystery dog. It was truly mysterious and easily my favorite of the four. I think it was topped with some kind of chilli, purple looking radishes and some kind of pepper that wasn’t a bell pepper. It had a nice sweet and sour crunch from the radishes and pepper while it pertained a nice gooey chilli texture to go along with the snap of each bite of the hot dog. Halfway through our hot dogs, all of us were thinking about the sausages we sampled earlier. All of us ended up ordering the sausage and peppers sandwich to go and requested the owner to give us his special sauce. If I was him, I would ditch the bread and peppers and serve it exactly the he does when he samples them. Just simple slices of juicy tender sausages topped with his unique sauce. This could be a real hit if this was served at parties. Verdict — If you don’t mind smelling like grilled hot dogs, Holydog is a real gem in Middletown. It’s a real treat for the medical students in this town to have a place like this. The owner is a great guy and we also met one of the guys from Mix N Mac which is also another great eatery in Middletown. The only thing I disliked about Holydog were their salty fries. The fries itself were deep fried to perfection. Crispy and crunchy and everything you could ask for in a fry. The problem was the salt and it became a little unbearable to eat towards the end. Other than the fries being too salty, Holydog is excellent in food and service. I highly recommend anyone in this town or visitors to give Holydog a try. It’s a 1 man operation and he really knows how to serve up some good stuff out of his super tiny little kitchen.

Chino is very cool and his travels clearly color his hit dog wizardry. Loved the remoulade, caramelized onions and crisp pickles on the Danish dog. A hidden gem in Middletown, NY.

One of my friends brought me here to eat lunch and it was amazing! I ordered the polish dog and I loved it. The bread was warm and slightly crispy. The ingredients in my hotdog included peppers, onions, chili, and some other amazing sauces. Also the fries go great with some spicy ketchup(sriracha mixed with ketchup.)
