Waitress was extremely rude, she argued with me when I got the bill because I didn’t know they don’t give free refills. She tried to say she’s never been anywhere that gives free refills and that she didnt know it was a common thing(yeah right). Food was not great and definitely not worth $ 20(and that was with a coupon). I had steak teriyaki, which was edible but not amazing. The shrimp had no taste. Waitress also couldn’t subtract 19.95 from 20 and tried to say my friend owed her a penny. She made a big deal about it too. This was my first and last time eating here. Mr. Sushi and Grill is way better!

Stopped here for lunch as it is a 30 second walk from my job. Middletown is full of great restaurants, this is one of them. The sushi is very good and I think I was more attracted to the four onion soup. For $ 3 too! The sushi I will say is a little on the high side. Nothing to crazy on the menu but none-the-less great food. The staff is really nice and friendly.

We decided to order take out from Blue Finn because it’s the closest sushi option for us. The chicken teriyaki is super dry. We got the coconut shrimp and fried calamari for appetizers. They were a bit greasy and we have definitely had better. The sushi is just okay, the pieces are pretty small compared to other restaurants. Not my favorite sushi spot in Middletown.

My friend and I ordered sushi to go. The place was very clean. The bartender was very friendly, and we enjoyed the music selection(Wale and Chris Brown) while picking up our food. We ordered a combination of 6 rolls(2) volcano shrimp tempura, tuna/crab roll, fried clam roll(loved it) green dragon roll. Fried clam roll was my favorite, my friend loved her shrimp tempura… The others were okay. This is the only sushi I’ve had in Middletown it was descent. I would go again, but it’s not the best I’ve had

Ive been here once before and had high hopes for the sushi. First I had ordered oysters, which they were out of, so instead I just order my pieces of separate sushi as an appetizer. The uni(sea urchin) was pretty nice and the octopus wasn’t chewy, that’s a plus. The miso soup and salad that came out were pretty nice, although I could have done without the Daikon in the soup. Here’s the part that made me really sad– I had gotten nice sized pieces of fish before but this time was a different story, maybe the place is going out of business? The salmon was noticeably taken off of the thinnest part of the salmon steak, the white fish tasted off unless dipped in soy sauce, and the snapper was almost paper thin. The dinning room was empty so I had already ruled out the«running out so portion less» excuse. It was also really expensive, in a could have fed a family of ten people way(it was only my mother and I). Now I know sushi isn’t inexpensive, but 94 dollars for two plates of less than a regular steak fish and four piece of sushi to the side?- no. I don’t think they are doing to well anymore. I don’t recommend the sushi– haven’t tried the regular food.

Awesome!!! Fresh food —which is essential in a restaurant that serves sushi. I’ve eaten at most of the sushi restaurants in Middletown and I can tell you that this place is the best out of all of them. I lived in Japan for 3 years– trust me I know what I’m talking about. I like to go at lunch time because it’s a lot quieter. they have awesome soup in the winter also. They serve a wide variety of Japanese beers. their miso soup which comes with most meals is delicious. I think the only thing I ate here that I didn’t like was their chicken sandwich at lunch time — it was quite dry. service is very good. Atmosphere is lovely. Huge fish tank in the front. bar on the right side. iGo back here frequently… At least three times a year. price tag is average to marginally high. But well worth every cent. No take home bags because you will not want to leave anything on your plate.

Good sushi, fair prices. I used the California roll as the consumer price index for sushi restaurants. Here a California roll is $ 4.25 so it’s very reasonable. I set my expectations low but was satisfied overall. The shrimp tempura roll was excellent, the shrimp inside was fresh and sweet. The place is clean. The bar looks pretty nice with a few beers on tap.

Prefer the excellent sushi to eating off the menu. Dinning room is small and quiet. Carry out available.

My wife and I have dined at Blue Finn for lunch and dinner many times over the past several years. Though the entrees are solid, the sushi bar is on par and doesn’t take risks, the service has been professional enough to keep us coming back. Unfortunately, the service we experienced last evening made us question whether we’d be frequenting the establishment much, if any, going forward. The drinks took almost twenty minutes to arrive, and the came in the wrong size and short one drink, the roll appetizers were slowly prepared and delivered only moments before the entrees and second drink ordered during the meal was never delivered, after twenty minutes; though the waiter never forgot to put it on the bill. The waiter, barmaid, hostess and owner seemed to be concentrating on one particular table, with minor attention, if any, paid to the rest of the restaurant. Though my wife and I are often above average tippers tonight we did not as we were so disgusted, we paid our bill and had dessert elsewhere to finish off our night.

This place is lucky to get 1 star. I was very excited to go here, I love sushi and have heard that its pretty good and cheap on this place so I took my mother here for her birthday. I started with«tempura calamari», the squid itself was pretty good but the breading they used was the same stuff that you get when you order sweet and sour dumplings at a generic chinese food place. The dip was like duck sauce and bland. Next was the sushi, I got a white dragon roll and it was ok. The salmon roll was just ok as well. I ordered the rainbow trout as an entrée and it was decent but very bland, if the ponzu sauce had some flavor it would have been pretty good. My mom ordered pan seared scallops and stuffed shrimp, it was REPULSIVE! The scallops were mushy and have no flavor and the shrimp were stuffed with mush that looked like cat vomit and smelled slightly of rancid fish. The service was terrible after we finished and had the table cleared we waited 15 minutes before I had to go ask for the bill. The waitress was pretty bad, forgot things, and spent most of her time at the bar. if you want good sushi in this area go to magoya, its worth the extra money.

I have been twice. Each time I got the Volcano Tempura Roll. Wow, it’s awesome! I will keep coming back just for that.. . And maybe one day I’ll try something new :)

I have tried this restaurant a couple of times and the sushi was horrible. I must confess that I am a sushi snob, so to me sushi is either great or horrible. There is no in between when it comes to raw fish.

I have been going to the Blue Finn for years. It is my favorite sushi place. I am young and do not have a lot of money to go out to eat, so I choose restaurants very carefully. Although I have been here many times(probably 20) I always order the same thing– it’s that good. I always go for the sushi special. It is only 20 dollars! They bring you a huge plate of sushi plus miso soup and a house salad. It is plenty for two people if you are both really hungry but also acceptable for 3 or 4 people if you are not so hungry. You can order additional soups and salads too. Their drinks are reasonably priced and the staff is always really friendly. I love this place!

Nice and clean inside. Just regular sushi, very similar to our local Chinese place. The waitress was very unprofessional. Sushi chef? Two Mexican guys… Oops. Yep first and last time there.

After a long day of work, we stumbled upon this jewel of a restaurant. Small, very clean and great for dates or families! We had the manhattan chowder and special pork fried dumplings for appetizers. The soup was so fresh and flavorful. The dumplings were cooked to perfection… so light and tasty! My Hubby had Asian fish and chips, while I had the cod with caramelized garlic and spinach! So nice to eat dinner and love how you feel after! All the flavors were bold yet restrained and fitting! We will definitely be back!

Great find on Dolson Ave. Japanese-American fusion. Great sushi bar, but some very innovative Asian-inspired dishes on the menu too. Good place for a business meeting. Great atmosphere.

This is a pretty solid sushi place — a coworker and I visited as a sort of celebration after a long weekend of work. We started with their calamari, which was fresh fried in tempura batter. The batter was almost too much — there seemed to be plenty on the squid, but it was still fresh and pretty good. From there, it was time for rolls. The two of us had bigger eyes than stomachs, and ended up with 5 rolls. The standard spicy tuna was good, not super spicy. They had a tuna/cheddar/apple roll that we had to try. Great combo, but there was maybe twice as much cheese as apple. With the apple filling the role of cucumber, I would have reversed that proportion. The crispy texture and sweetness were needed more than the heavy cheddar. The«White Dragon» was eel with white tuna, drizzled with a sauce that was a hair too sweet for me. We had a special seafood roll that was topped with crab — tasted good, but the crab was fake… kind of a downer. And finally, a fried clam roll recommended by a friend, which was excellent. So, all in all, this was good stuff. Maybe a change here and there, and it would have been really quite good. The bill wasn’t bad either — considering all we had, I thought it was pretty reasonable. If I lived in the area, I could see stopping in now and again for some things. Definitely worth going back and trying some of the other special items.

Best sushi around! My wife and I go to blue finn at least 3 times a month and we live over an hour away. Their service is great and their sushi is unmatched.
