What a waist of time 40 minutes and no waitress to take a dinner order! Hello Knuckleheads! No Stars.

Best burgers ever! Always tastes good, thick and fresh. They toast the buns also. The only con is that the place is very SMOKY, The staff is very friendly, when they are busy the bar tender will come to help. Newly remodeled it looks fabulous. I think I will try to go in the summer to eat on the patio for some fresh air.

Took my wife there for our first visit today. I have heard that they have«wonderful» burgers. We thought we would try it out. I ordered a burger with bacon and cheese, only to find out when she brought me the burger, they don’t even offer bacon!!! Why didn’t my waitress tell me that when I ordered it?!? We ordered some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. She brought them out with the burger. So much for an «appetizer»!! Not to mention, they don’t even have marinara for the mozzarella sticks! Again, we weren’t informed of this until she brought them out! As for the place itself… if you’re a smoker, I suppose you might like the place. If you’re not… it’s one big ashtray smelling place!!! The ONLY thing the place has going for it is the patio that you can sit on… if the weather is nice. All in all… I would stay away!

Booooooo!!! Wtf! Starving, thirsty, and had to use a restroom, lady in a shop down the street recommended it, nothing much open on a Sunday, and they wouldn’t let us eat there because nobody under 21 allowed ?? Not even on the outdoor patio. LAME. Plus they were kind of rude about the whole thing and there were no visible signs, making my well behaved teen aged kids feel very unwelcomed. Went to another pub with a designated area for families. How dumb is it to turn away business in a very small town?

It’s OK if you don’t have sensitivity to cigarette smoke. They SAY there is no smoking in the small room off the patio, but it isn’t enforced. I don’t think the food is worth the lung damage. How many decades now has it been common knowledge that second hand smoke kills? The goldfish races are fun but I probably won’t be back due to the smokers. Sorry.

I actually enjoyed this place. Nice bartender, and they even surprisingly had a beer from Destihl Brewery(forgetting the name, I’ll have to check my Untappd app to remember the name of it) on tap! Beer selection didn’t seem too bad, with both a mix of microbrews, international beers, and U.S. macro beers you can find anywhere. It’s a dark bar with no TVs inside(at least from what I could tell), with a patio area just to the south of the bar, and also a food menu(didn’t order anything off of that). I’m not sure about the smoking complaints, since while I won’t disagree there is a little bit of smokiness you notice when you walk inside, honestly I’ve been to other bars that were far more smoky than this place is. Step in a time machine to 2006(if you can find one, lmao) and visit Foul Shots in Normal, IL before Normal’s smoking ban, before complaining about the smokiness here. Yes there is some smokiness here, but it’s no worse than any smoking allowed casino(i.e. Horseshoe in Hammond, Potawatomie in Milwaukee, WI as examples), or any bars in non-ban states I’ve been to recent years. I’d definitely be up for giving this place another go, if I return to Michigan City at some point.

I always loved this place until recently. I believe they are filling the bottles with homemade liquor. I drank two grey goose’s and was dizzy and sick. I know my liquor. I watched the bartender pour from the grey goose and this was not. Serving that cheap homemade liquor while selling«high-end» is not only shameful but dangerous. My wife and I only having two drinks each felt like we were Poisoned! Shame on you!!!

For a bar, it is serviceable. When I went, I gave major credit to what was going on more than the bar itself. We went on an evening where they were featuring a free beer sampling event from a soon-to-be-opened brewery. As a beer lover, I definitely enjoyed that and it made it easier to overlook the kind of odd atmosphere. Being from Michigan, I was totally not accustomed to the smoky atmosphere(since smoking in bars/restaurants has been illegal since 2010). Obviously not their fault, but take note. It basically reeks in there. I’d highly recommend grabbing a seat on their nice patio outside if possible. The inside of the bar was dark, smoky, and just not an atmosphere I enjoyed. They also had an outside bar shack thing, which was just kind of odd. It was made of concrete and kind of looked like a bomb shelter. But the drinks were fairly cheap(albiet served in plastic cups), and how do you mess that up. I can’t speak to the food, it looked to be like standard pub food. I’d say give it a shot if you’re bar hopping, keep an eye out for cool events, but don’t expect somewhere super classy and clean.

1st visit ever last Thursday. Incredibly sized burgers! The double burger was $ 6.75 so I figured it wouldn’t be very large and boy was I wrong. You will enjoy the ND atmosphere and most likely be back again!

Shhhh, please don’t tell anyone. This is one of my secret hiding spots. You know, when the rest of the family wants to go to the outlet mall. Or. when I just want to hide out from them… errrr…pass the time. The folks here are friendly and the food is what you’d find on your average pub menu. Guinness, whisk(e)y, and grub, all good and all very easy on the wallet. Non-smokers take note, even if no one is actually smoking while you’re in here, the place smells of smoke. I don’t think that will ever go away. Something to keep in mind if it bothers you. Do me a favor, if you see my family at the outlet mall, tell them you’re sure you saw me at The Gap about 30 minutes ago. I’ll save you a seat at the bar.

I liked Ryans when we went there. Typical pub fare and I enjoyed the Italian beef and Reuben. They also had a good selection of beers on tap. Nice to have options other than lite and bud light-I’ll pass. Pretty smokey in here as well. Get with the times IN and keep that outdoors.

This is one of my favorite spots in Michigan City! The atmosphere and staff are incredibly friendly. Most bars in Michigan City have creepy atmosphere and even creepier patrons, but not Ryan’s. It’s clean and comfortable. Their fish is fantastic, though everything else on the menu is very typical pub food. Their fish is so good, however, you don’t need the rest of the menu.
