Great place. Food was amazing and the staff was top notch. Our server Troy was great. As a veteran myself this place was one of my favorites. I’ll be coming back for sure.

Fantastic food! Hubby and I decided to give this place a try. Got the perogies for an appetizer and said to each other we’d have to come back just for them even before we got our dinner, but dinner was just as great. I had the surf and turf special, fantastic, seafood perfectly cooked and the steak was like butter. OMG so good. Hubby had meatloaf which he said was great and perfectly flavored. I never leave reviews but hubby and I agreed, this place was worth reviewing just to make sure it never goes out of business.

Hello gloriousness. We were traveling through and made plans to stop here after reading it’s menu. Many tasty gluten free option. House made, hand crafted, locally sourced = fabulous. Excellent service. Try Bleu Cheese Kettle Chips. You won’t be sorry.

We stopped at Fiddlehead last week for dinner and really enjoyed it. We like to sit at the bar at restaurants as it is more relaxed and social. The bartender was friendly and informative. The menu has a lot of good options for all preferences — meat, vegetables, fish, appetizers, and salads. I enjoyed the stuffed peppers and added chicken, at the suggestion of the bartender — good idea as it was tasty. My husband enjoyed the burger of the month — a German-themed burger that was so flavorful and juicy. We look forward to going back from a friendly casual atmosphere. I wish they were showing a game or other sporting event on the t.v. instead of CNN though. The best part of the experience is knowing that they support military veterans by training them in the restaurant industry — cooking, host, etc. Good food, friendly service, and giving back to the community.

This place is a true gem and one of the reasons I really really really like coming to Michigan City. My family lives in Porter so whenever I visit, I always want to take a quick trip down to Michigan City. Fiddlehead is now another reason for me to come. Service: They hire the sweetest people on the planet. My mother has come here several times, and this past Christmas, she was dying to take me. We must have come on whatever day they closed early for their Christmas party, and the young man who came over to tell us that they were not open was so ridiculously nice and adorable and yet so worried we’d be ticked that they were closed. It was so sweet. We ended up coming back a few days later and again got only amazing service. Also, they hire veterans. Support places like this people! These are the real businesses we need around. Food: Sweet baby Jesus. their food is so good. Honestly,(and I can’t believe I’m saying this) they are too generous with their portions. The entire reason we came is for me to try the lobster mac & cheese because I love me some carbs and cheese and goodness. Lobster mac is definitely high on the list of things NOT to order at most places because it’s the perfect dish to charge high prices without actually adding anything of value to the dish. Well Fiddlehead nails the dish. The chunks of lobster are HUGE(I’m serious… like a full lobster claw sitting on your plate), perfectly cooked, and the dish is dreamy. I also had this red pepper soup that was great, and my grandmother ordered a «side salad» with a «half» rack of ribs that ended up being a huge delicious salad(which a very distinct fresh herb taste) and some of the best ribs I’ve ever had. I’m not gonna keep going on and on, but you get the point. These people need to feed me every day. All and all, this place is a big hit. Everything is so fresh and you can’t beat the service. Support these businesses! This area is only getting better, and it’s restaurants like this that are going to attract a great new neighborhood.

Perfection! Best burger in town. Locally sourced foodstuffs, grass fed beef and everything is incredibly fresh. Homemade pickles. Hand-cut fries. Pierogies a few different ways. They make their own desserts too. Waitstaff knows their menu well. Knows the local drill and informs you about all the sources. Waitstaff is great. Food is fantastic. Menu is eclectic. Food is the real stuff. Could use a bit more ambiance. I’ll be a regular.

Open since May 2015. Nice vibe. Friendly service. Blue cheese chips were tasty… chips were homemade and still warm… lots of blue cheese chunks. Local brewery beers. Food was very good… lobster stuffed shrimp… lobster Mac(gluten free option and large portion) and cheese burger. Lots of great gluten free options!

I don’t write too many reviews on things, but I just ate at Fiddlehead in Michigan City, IN and I had a great burger. I was with my family and everyone had a very good meal. I’m writing also because too many restaurants don’t make it in Michigan City and I would like to see this one stick around for a long time. One of the things that I really liked is their approach to food and that is about eating locally and fresh. The meat is sourced locally and the other ingredients are fresh and in season. I ordered the burger which was cooked perfectly and the fresh cut fries were delicious. I would’ve given it 5 stars, but I would’ve liked to see a few more fries on my plate. Hope you make it there soon.

Went to Fiddlehead for the first time tonight and it was really excellent. Our server(Troy) was knowledgeable and patient and knew a lot about the menu. He made beer and food recommendations, all of which were fantastic. We had the boom boom shrimp appetizer, split a big salad(amazing Green Goddess salad dressing), the seafood special(lake perch and lobster stuffed shrimp) and Mac and cheese as a side. The pumpkin cake for dessert was an added pleasant surprise. This place is in downtown Michigan City(in an area that it starting to be revitalized) and its exceptional. Highly recommended.

This place is a great restaurant for Michigan City! I think this is exactly what we need here. The staff was nice & knowledgeable, and the service was great. The bar area is very nice. I had the pierogi’s, and they were surprisingly tasty. I couldn’t figure out if they were grilled or fried. This place is newer, so it was a little bumpy as far as service etc goes, but honestly they were so quick at correcting any issue, I can overlook the bumpy-ness. The food menu is pretty big, and they have fresh shrimp. That’s right, fresh shrimp in Northwest Indiana. They get the shrimp from a shrimp farmer in Valpo. I’ll have to come back to try their menu. The beer menu isn’t bad either, they just have bottles though, no draft beers. When I went they had some spiced apple sangria or something like that which was tasty.

Love love love this place! We spent the day at the mall and wanted to have a nice sit down dinner. The service was great, very polite and funny. Out server Tye was so sweet and he was incredibly professional. Our food came quick and was amazing. We had the meatloaf, the chicken carbonara, and the portobello mushrooms. I hate meatloaf and this was awesome. The mushroom sauce really went well with it and the meatloaf itself was cooked perfectly. The chick carbonara wasn’t heavy at all and the peas and mushrooms were fresh. The portobello mushrooms were great and filling. Our serve even informed us of Sunday brunch and gave us a takeout menu to take home. We will definitely be coming back here!

Was looking forward to trying this place but ended up being disappointed. I had the meatloaf platter and it lacked seasoning, the white gravy should be a brown rich gravy to compliment the meat, the peas had to much bacon and heavily chopped onion. My husband had the BBQ ribs and they where terrible the sauce tasted like a bottle sauce and A1 mixed together. If you ever want this place to go to the next level ho to Chicago and do some research. Salt and pepper ho a long way

Starting with the homemade drizzled blue cheese. Yum! The BLT with the tomato onion jam, hand cut fries. Finish with salted honey pie with French press. Heaven. Will definitely will go back.

So weird to see all these good reviews. My food was awful. Pierogis tasted like nothing. Pulled pork tasted like spaghetti sauce. French fries were by far the best part of the meal. And to top it off, another guest was yelling obscenities at a homeless woman and the server was laughing. I pass this place every day and won’t ever consider it again. Why would I?

My first 5 star! This quaint, family-owned restaurant has all local and fresh ingredients. It is great for both an afternoon lunch or for a quiet place to get some work done-they do serve coffee. We arrived around 2 pm… And it was pretty dead, but still about 5 other groups of diners. We were seated promptly. They also have bar seating, which would be a nice alternative if they got busy. I think it would be a great date spot for drinks and some apps or dinner. They have a large drink menu, including apple cider sangria which looked and sounded delicious, but we stuck with water. My mom and I both ordered the vegetable soup which was amazing. All fresh vegetables and a tomato-base broth. For lunch we split the spaghetti and meatballs which was also super delish. The meatballs were 100%… I saw other reviews about the meatball sandwich and I’m sure it would be tasty judging by how good they were in this. For dessert we got the pumpkin crisp, I love a good pumpkin dessert. Served warm with vanilla bean ice cream on top, it was just the right amount of sweet… Sometimes pumpkin can be overdone on the sweetness factor. Keep it up Fiddlehead! You’re awesome!

Good restaurant that was close enough to the Blue Chip Casino to get me away from a conference for lunch. I liked the server and appreciated the USMC veteran photos on the wall. Semper Fi. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was good other than the bacon. Unfortunately, the bacon was too fatty and was too limp for my taste. The asparagus soup was good. Next time I’m in Michigan City, this is where I’m going.

Mary and Aaron invite you to dine at their family table, and it’s a great experience with the freshest of local ingredients. We were welcomed with two fresh breads — pumpernickel and challah — and unlimited refills(pro tip, don’t fill up on the bread, no matter how tempting). Fiddlehead offers two house-made Italian sodas, ginger and lemon, which were both delightful. Our appetizers were hot and tasty: spinach artichoke dip(we wanted to lick the bowl), and fresh pierogies. Dinner was a grass-fed burger with goat cheese and fries with just a touch of sea salt. Continuing the ‘awesome bread’ theme, the bun was really delicious. I snagged a bite of the Mac’n’cheese, and could’ve quite happily had a whole bowl of that creamy, cheesy goodness. We didn’t save room for dessert, but I’ll certainly be back!
