This place is lovely. I’ve been here twice while on vacation in Miami and the food and the service was great. We also had a balcony table with a great view of the Miami river

I love coming here after work on Friday for the happy hour. The drinks are 2 for 1, and there is a pasta dish to enjoy for free. The food here is always fresh and tasty.

After walking in and it was DEAD during happy hour, we wanted to give this place a chance so we order an app which was not good, obviously frozen calamari with out of the jar sauce. Also, service wasn’t great. Not sure why they have an italian place in the same building as Il Gabbiano which is MUCH better Italian.

Had another amazing dinner at Scalina. Everything was amazing right from the start. Great service, great wine, waters always filled, tasty appetizers and amazing meals. Our friends who had never been there were in awe and said they’d definitely be back. Thank you Fernando, our server Martin and everyone else!

Every time we visit the family in Miami we go to Scalina. Fantastic food, great views, and wonderful service. I’ve had the lamb chop, the osso buco, the gnocchi, and the risotto all of which are fantastic. Their calamari is always a great choice for an appetizer. Once you’re done with all that, their desserts are well prepared and are a delicious end to a wonderful meal.

Love this place. Wonderful views and cozy, yet modern ambience. Classic Italian comfort food at reasonable prices, and warm friendly service. The(complimentary) zucchinni appetizer is addictive – sliced paper thin and marinated in lemon, olive oil and garlic. Other standouts are the scampi(I know –a cliché, but still delicious), and the osso bucco.

This place is top notch. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious. As long as it is not too hot, ask for a table outside. The view is amazing and the breeze off the ocean takes your troubles away. When you sit down bruschetta, made of the freshest tomatoes imaginable, and zucchini, soaked in a vinaigrette dressing, is brought to your table. I ordered a bone in veal chop, with porcini mushrooms. Amazing. If not the best, one of the best veal chops I have had in my life. My girlfriend ordered the four cheese stuffed pasta. Like the veal chop, amazing. For dessert, I highly recommend the flourless chocolate cake. Scalina is a fantastic restaurant. Perfect for nice quiet dinner, or a romantic anniversary.

Oh deliciousness! So good that in fact I came here twice in one day. Dine-in for lunch and take-out for dinner. I was in Miami on a business trip and Scalina is near downtown just a block away from the Intercontinental Hotel so it was an easy walk. When you first go in you can definitely tell it’s a nice classy restaurant. There’s a table of all different products of Italy. The restaurant has a lovely patio/balcony overlooking the water. Since it was January we opted to sit outside. The waiters were professional and service was quick. You’re provided with free bread and chilled sauteed zucchini(at least I think that’s what it was…) The daily specials all sounded amazing. I got the lobster ravioli with rock shrimp which was very generous in portion size(lots of ravioli and lots of rock shrimp!!). My boss got the baby octopus. He wanted a portion and a half and the chef was flexible enough to do that for him. So working late we were contemplating what to order in and Scalina popped into our heads. I ordered the gnocchi and requested to add some grilled chicken. My portion size was HUGE and so much chicken. Turned it into two meals, which is pretty impressive(I eat a lot). My boss and the client got one of the fish dishes, but I can’t remember which one. Scalina didn’t have any salt and pepper to go so they gave us a salt and pepper set off their table and said we could return it the next time we went! That’s service. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. It can get pricey so beware.

This is a very good location for the scenic view. You can see the Miami river and boat traffic as it goes by. Nice place to have a drink and relax, but the food is not so good and it could be a lot better. The appetizers they bring in like the zuchinni and eggplant with olive oil and garlic are outstanding — and so is the burrata. Price is way too high for what it offers.

Excellent meal and service. Little extras like bruschetta at the beginning and lemon cello and biscotti at the end of the meal were pleasant touches. Veal Marsala was the best we ever had,

Scalina is a great date place, provided you like the person you are with. That is always a plus, no? ;-) The food was excellent, the service outstanding. Their selection of wines is very good. Definitely check this place out, in you want a romantic spot in Miami. Enjoy!

Service was fantastic! We ate so many things(and took some home… nobody could eat all of this). Started with Malfati Ragu(veal/mushroom/sauce) this was very good, the sauce was delicious. I would pick this as my appetizer again. Then we had the” Steak ala Fernando” I believe Fernando is responsible for the sauce. a peppercorn/cream which again was delicious. «Steak Paillard» is the pounded strip steak with sundried tomatoes/mushrooms/onions… nothing else is needed to say on that one. Got the fruit/cream sauce for dessert… which again the cream sauce made by Fernando… is a flavor I’ve never had and it was great. Then the Tiramisu :) with a lemonciello dessert drink. The lemonciello is very sweet. Atmosphere was nice. It was quiet so we had no problem holding our conversation. And lastly… Fernando, «Thank You» for making our evening very nice!

I went with my wife and another couple for dinner. The décor was beautiful and the servers at the bar and wait staff at the tables were very professional and accommodating. We had a new waiter who recently started, so our comments are based on our sole experience, and may not be indicative of the overall restaurant, with more experienced wait staff. 1. My wife was given the lunch menu, while we rec”d the dinner menu, not a big deal, except we spent several minutes determining who had the correct menu. 2. Our wine menu was missing a couple of pages, not a big deal, except the pages given to us were very expensive wines $ 100– $ 950, we were looking for the Merlots for about $ 40. We just felt a little uncomfortable. 3. I ordered the sole, and when they showed us the whole fish before it was cooked, the portion served seemed a lot smaller. Beside the sole seemed pricey at $ 52,for what we ultimately received. 4.The music was too loud to have a normal conversation with our friends, we requested that the music be lowered, but no one heard us.(no pun intended)

Went here for lunch for my fiancé’s Birthday! The service was excellent and the food was fantastic! Really a nice surprise… the view was also amazing right over the water! It was a little pricey for lunch but we were celebrating a very special occasion so it was definitely worth the splurge. We definitely felt that the atmosphere was very elegant and appropriate for a celebration.

For the last couple months I have been wondering, why oh why would they open ANOTHER fine dining Italian restaurant in the same building as Il Gabbiano. Well, now I know. Had the pleasure of dining at Scalina last night and got the inside scoop. Apparently, the Scalina guy helped open Il Gabbiano back in the day and wanted to stur up some competition, but at a lower price point. Service was really great, server put napkin on laps, told us about the restaurant, manager came by to say hello, and he was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Similarly to Gabbiano, freebies included aged parmesan, brushetta, bread/olive oil and zucchini topped with andives. Bottles of wine were 20% off, so we were able to choose a bottle at a slightly higher price point. The server poured the bottle into a decanter for us too. Ordered an app from the specials which was a mix of scallops, shrimp, and calamari. It was yum! For entrees we had the Malfati Ragu(ragu of veal and wild mushrooms) and the Calf’s Liver(came with sausage, sauteed onions and polenta). Both were delish but I felt that the calf’s liver was a better bang for your buck. We were totally stuffed and brought a healthy portion of leftovers home. Scalina will definitely be giving Il Gabbiano a run for their money. Entrees are a good 10 – 20 dollars cheaper, service was perfect, restaurant interior is beautiful with a similarly nice view. Definitely a romantic restaurant and we had a great experience! Basically, you get an only slightly lesser Il Gabbiono experience but at a price that won’t make you cringe!

Scalina Ristorante was a great addition to our trip to Miami! Where can I start… the food and service was excellent! We were greeted right away upon our entry and the staff seems to really care about their customers. It has an amazing view right on the water with the option to sit inside or outside(both are absolutely breathtaking!) The food was so delicious and cooked perfectly! I am talking everything from the start salad to the end desert, the evening was perfect. Aside from the food, they have a wide variety of wine and champagne as well. We had a staff member who was very helpful in making sure we selected the perfect wine with our dinner. You have to go check out this restaurant if you’re in the Miami area!
