I stumbled upon this place while looking for a new place to have lunch. You have to really be looking otherwise you won’t find the place. There’s no sign on the building or in the window, just a Jamaican flag and some pictures of food. The place is very divey. It’s just one guy working, but he was efficient and extremely nice. The first issue I had is as I go to pay he says his credit card machine wasn’t working. My coworker had cash, otherwise we would have left. I ordered the ox tail and it came with rice and beans(95% rice), maduros and some cabbage. The ox tail was very tender and flavorful, but everything else was just meh. The price was $ 12 and I left full, eating all the ox tail and maduros, but less than half the rice and cabbage. If you go ask if the credit machine is working before ordering.

I got the 5.99 Jerk Chicken Lunch Special, it was delicious. Not too spicy & not bland at all, very flavorful. Yummy steamed cabbage! & a sweet plantain on top!

We had spent an ridiculous amount of money this weekend on bad food and finally someone got it right!!! No we didn’t have the ambiance of Brios or the scenery of Nick’s Bar, but what we did get was some good oxtails and jerk chicken!!! Thanks to Unilocal for the assistance. Without my fellow Unilocalers, we would not have found this neighborhood gem. This is strictly a mom and pops restaurant, but don’t drive to fast or you will miss it. I had read that the Jerk Chicken wasn’t that good, so I asked for a small sample before I purchased it. It was freshly grilled and hot. Needless to say, we ordered the Jerk Chicken. The oxtails, the original reason for going, was exactly as everyone else had said… GREAT… Beware the prices went up a lil bit. She offers 3 sizes, Small, Medium and Large with two sides.

My family is Jamaican and they would be embarrassed to come here. Very disappointing. Of course, the service is NOT friendly. The food-took Forever and it needed salt and some seasoning. The atmosphere-was uninviting! This place reminds me of eating at some Jamaican lady’s house who doesn’t flavor her food enough… If this is home-style cooking then they should have sold their food from the back of their house and saved their money on renting a spot here! **Note: If you are dating someone that you DON’T respect, like or has become your enemy… this is a good place to take them out to eat. So, check it… I ordered the Ackee and saltfish, which was really bland-it was the worst Ackee and saltfish that I have ever ordered. The veggies were bland too. Man, the food just sucked… Pot Jamaican restaurant. Please take better pride in cooking your Jamaican food! You guys can do better than this!

The jerk chicken was bland. It tasted like it didn’t have any jerk seasoning. Very disappointing. The service was decent. If you’re looking for jerk chicken this is not the spot. I hope the owners read this and revamp their recipe.

The Oxtail. omg. During our meal, I was so focused on my food I forgot my bf was sitting across me. He had the Snapper which for him was a bit dry. Overall, above average food and flavored well if you have the palate for it.

Very home style restaurant with a family feel typical of Jamaican restaurants. You can see the Dutch pots over the fire(propane tank lol) in the back as well as the family team in the back cutting and preparing food. When I walked in the smell of good curry and oxtail hit me but it was still fairly early so I opted for ackee and salt fish with food(dumplings, banana, yam). To say the least, it was unflavored. The ackee and salt fish tasted blandly boiled, pepperless, bland, watery, and bland. The juices were completely clear– I’m used to a goldish juice from the oil and seasonings. But, nonetheless, i will try their oxtail just to see because the other reviews highly suggest it.

This down home spot it really wonderful. Very friendly folks and great food. The ackee and salt fish was great, but the brown stew fish is some of the best I’ve ever had!
