When I lived in Sunny Isles, I would stop by here sometimes after work, ranging anywhere from 3−6pm to get a beef patty. I would say that during that timeframe, they were sold out of beef and chicken patty’s 85% of the time. I got so annoyed at this, I stopped going there. It was not like I was going at prime-time beef patty time, during lunch, or dinner. I also tried a very cheap jerk chicken meal for around $ 4-$ 5. I love jerk sauce, but the jerk sauce here was so nasty to me, I never ordered anything from their menu again except patty’s(which you really can’t go wrong there). Although the price for the meal was right up my cheap alley with nice portions, it tasted more like some kind of sweetened black stewed chicken, then JERK anything. I thought maybe they gave me the wrong thing? Very disappointing. Also, no matter what kind of smile and friendly demeanor I brought to this place, the cashiers always looked at me cross and acted like I was bothering them by wanting to place an order. Also, I remember one time going and the menus were behind the counter within a half an arms reach. The cashier did not acknowledge or greet me for minutes while she did other things so I reached behind the counter and grabbed a menu(really, it was maybe a half a foot away from where I was standing) so I won’t have to wait even longer to place my order after she decided to recognize that I needed help. After I grabbed the menu, she came over and told me not to reach behind the counter and waved a finger at me. Um, if she could’ve walked over to do that, I think she could’ve walked over to give me a menu or take my order which was for one beef patty. If you are looking for Jamaican patty’s in the area, there is a new place that always has patty’s in stock and a better attitude further down east off of 163rd. It’s another small Jamaican place across from Walmart, on whatever that numbered street is(not sure). The restaurant is on the Northeast corner, and the building is facing(west) toward the Walmart. You cannot eat inside, but Irie Isles is so dirty and ghetto inside I would never have eaten there when I was a patron either.

fast food ish type of place. liked their jamaican patty — only had vegetable cuz they ran out of the beef and curry chicken tender jerk chicken special(given 2 separate spicy sauces — bbq-ish) over rice and peas(so much) with 2 plantains and a tiny salad had their homemade pineapple juice which tasted like it had ginger added to it inexpensive

i love curry. all kinds of curry. so jamaican curry goat sounded good for lunch. me and a friend decided to try irie isle in north miami. the location is pretty modest, there are no waiters, just a counter and a lady who looked like she didnt really wanted to be behind the counter. no facial expression, very quiet… perhaps i scared her? im not a scary guy at all, i just havent shaved in weeks. so i got my curry goat, it came with rice and peas, a little salad, two pieces of plantain and i also ordered a lemonade. my friend ordered the jerk chicken with the same sides, a festival and a drink. the goat was tasty, it was good but it was kinda fatty. the rice with peas was good and the plantains too, but you only get two pieces! so i had to make them last long by cutting them to a hundred smaller pieces. why two pieces of plantain anyways? putting that aside, the meal was good for the price.(21 $ for both) my lemonade tasted a little weird. maybe a little old? my friend liked his chicken but we both agreed that ‘clives’ on 28th street(next to circa28) is way better. so maybe if youre in north miami, dont feel like driving too much and youre craving jamaican, this irie isle is an option. but i dont think i would drive there(i live in downtown) any given day. another thing, the lady behind the counter asked me for my ID and credit card twice and stared at both — and at me — for about 10 seconds more or less in this order: ID-face-credit card-face-ID-face-credit card-face-ID, which probably just means it is time for me to shave…
