I went to Porketta for lunch and enjoyed 3 delectable, succulent and moist roasted pork sandwiches. The organic pork is perfectly seasoned with italian herbs, spices and garlic served on ciabatta bread with 3 sauces. The owner was very warm and passionate about his craft. He has a farm in Umbria and makes all types of infused olive oils, pastas and vinegars. Traditionally, porchetta is served at room temperature so keep that in mind! Oh, and the tiramisu is homemade :)

Fresh pork from Italy, so fresh I think the owner himself brings it carry-on & pays a flight seat for it as well. There’s really only 3 sandwiches to choose from. All 3 are with pork, but the sauces and the toppings are really good. There’s a plate that brings all 3. I highly recommend starting with this one… The red sauce is my favorite! The owner is really nice and he was the employer that night. Nice guy! Very patient in our decision and even recommended better orders to my undecided friends. Sat outside around 7pm on a Sunday night, with a couple of jokes and good food, can’t go wrong. I could see this place as a good spot before or after a Bayside visit.

It is so refreshing to have a legitimate italian pork place. I miss my roast pork sandwich from Dinics in phili, but this place hit the spot. We were greeted so graciously. First we were given a tasting of the pork which was freshly sliced in front of us and even given a tasting of the delicious ribs. Amazing service! For an extra charge they will make the sandwich with broccoli rabe on it– yum. I live two blocks away and will become a frequent visitor of this place! We were told about their fish fridays which include bacala and potatoes– i look forward to that.

Great atmosphere. Great food. Friendly owner. The pasta for sale is excellent as well as the olive oils. Most authentic porketta in the USA. Don’t forget to have the tiramisu for desert, it is very tasty. They offer catering and delivery which is awesome! Lovely addition to downtown Miami.

There’s not enough ‘there’ there for me. I get it. Porketta’s thing is pork. Cool. Fine. Fantastic. But if you only do one thing you need to do it so well people will push, scream and shove their way to you in order to avail themselves of it. For me, that wasn’t the case at Porketta. As mentioned in other people’s reviews, you have the choice of pork, pork, pork, or pork. I got the pork. For clarity’s sake, I ordered the Timmy-Jimmy-Tommy and all three sauces. This way instead of slathering all the sauces on one sandwich or plate, I was able to fully experience the meat paired with the sauces and come to a conclusion as to which rocked my world. Conclusion: my world wasn’t so much as rocked as it was swayed lightly. The sandwiches never went anywhere. I expected a journey on a taste tour through Italy. I stayed still. To begin with, the meat was really fatty. I don’t mind a bit of fat on my meat but the sandwiches were almost half(each one) a congealed, white, globby mess. No me gusta. No amount of sauce is going to make that taste good. I tried to add depth and texture by placing the skin inside the sandwich. It worked… sorta. Of the sauces, the bbq was my favorite but none of the three really did much to catch my attention. In addition to the sandwiches, I ordered a side of white(Cannellini) beans. They were bland. As in, ‘no salt’ bland. I’m a firm believer that Cannellini beans need to be served with greens, not either or. Perhaps had the been served together(and rendered with some ham hocks) the flavor profile would have come together to form something more pleasurable. I will say that I enjoyed the sandwich bread and the people working there(waitress and owner) were very personable. So… there’s that. Personality goes a long way(which is a fitting statement when talking about pork).

Porketta is a great addition to downtown dining. Authentic Italian crispy roast pork, perfectly seasoned and placed into a fresh ciabatta bun. Simple and blue collar yet elegant. Three sauces come with: spicy chile, green pesto, and American BBQ. The owners are straight from Italy and have perfected the art of roasting pork. They also have some great imported olive oils and pastas for sale. Check em out.

I would give this place one star, but they treated me well after they botched one of my lunches. Here is the summary: 1st Time — Shocked by the platter of cold deli meat piled in a to go box. I was expecting a hot lunch. 2nd Time — Here is the scenario: I was starving, this was the closest place to my house, figured I would give it another try. After telling the waitress I was starving she convinced me to get the ribs. They sounded big and filling; BEWARE, these are the smallest ribs you have ever seen in your life. Stick to the pork. 3rd Time– Again, its under my house and beats the pizza Crustica; I went back to complain about the mini-ribs and get a discounted lunch and never went back again. Portions here are def. small and the dudes stingy with the pork and beans.

This place is our new favorite place to go on a sunny afternoon walk downtown. The service was exceptional for a reasonably priced, walk up roasted pork place… and the food… oh my the food. Exceptional !! The really awesome guy running things came out and offered us a taste of their special(We each got a rib that was seasoned and cooked to perfection) as we finished up our amazing Roast Pork sandwiches… which were epic. Spring for a side of Broccoli Rabe and have them put it on the sandwich with the pork… my god… I’m so happy this place exists within walking distance !!! Do yourself and your stomach a favor and Go try this new downtown gem.

I must have gotten there at the wrong day at the wrong time. More likely the wrong time. I was somewhat surprised to see that Porketta was located on the same street as other well known restaurants, and also surprised by its small size. Also, I had imagined that a place solely dedicated to pork was a bit more in the likelihood of a BBQ joint, where everything is darkened by smoke and sticky. Instead Porketta is modern, minimalist, and it looks like a drive-thru dentist lab, if there are any in existence. The menu revolves around one thing and one thing only: sliced, well seasoned, roasted pork. The pork is served three ways: one big sandwich, three little ones or a platter. You pick your style. I got the big sandwich, with all three sauces. The dish was adorned with pickled cucumbers and shaved pieces of pork skin, which seemed good for dipping but proved to be a bit chewy and hard to eat. The sandwich wasn’t too far from that first impression. My first bite revealed salty yet good amounts of fat and meat. My second bite revealed cold meat mixed with warm meat. My third bite revealed cold fat, over seasoned meat, just a mess. Ouch! The ciabatta bread was soft and warm, and the sauces were good, but they couldn’t rescue the pork sandwich from spiraling down. I think that for the price and the size, the dish should have been a lot, a lot better. Specially if you are basically handling only one item on the menu, although that hasn’t saved other places from failing. Hence my assumption of showing up at the wrong time, or sixty minutes before closing time. On a rare cold day in Miami, I thought the locals were busy bundling up themselves under their Snuggies, and therefore the lack of clientele at Porketta. But it was my mistake, and my next assumption is that Porketta only shines at lunch time, and not the rest of the day. I did appreciate the quick service(though I was the only one there) and friendliness, but if you are giving me an OK sandwich, I’ll take my talents to South Beach.

Divine swine!!! It is quite appropriate that I feel entirely like a little piglet after having just dined here. After hearing so much about Porketta, I decided to finally meander over and give it a whirl. What a whirl! It started with some very attentive and prompt service, you can tell that the people here are invested and care about the business and their customers. I went with the 3 tiny pork sammies so that I could try all 3 sauces, and while I am glad that I got to try all the sauces,(being that I am a saucy gal) I would recommend just getting the big sandwich and asking for the three sauces on the side any way. The cibatta bread is great but when it is tiny, it makes for a mission eating. I have to say that the homemade green sauce stole the show and I complimented the chef on it. He gave me a heads up for next time: mix the spicy sauce with the green. YUM!!! They also gave me cornichons and crispy pork skin on the side with my sammies… OMG the pork skin!!! I definitely overindulged but it was well worth it. They informed me that as soon as their license clears, they will be having Happy Hour from 5 – 7 Monday through Friday. It’ll be the kind where you buy a drink and get free food while drinking. Quite Euro-chic, I love it!!! Can’t wait to come back.

It’s unique. The menu is limited. And I LOVE it. Their specialty is, obviously, pork. Specially, porketta, which is a traditional Italian dish. This place serves it as the tradition says it should be: cool(as in sort of cold). I will come here for lunch often.

It’s the old question — is it better to do one thing really well, or to merely be versed in a number of disciplines? Well, if your philosophy skews to the former, and you have a love for some Italian pork roast, you should get yourself to Porketta. The menu of «mains» consists of three items — 1) a straight up pork sandwich 2) a plate of three smaller pork sandwiches and 3) a pork platter with broccoli rabe and cannelini beans. Wanting to cut out extraneous bread, and also liking the idea of beans and the bitter rabe, I went for the platter. For ten bucks, it’s not a bad deal. There’s plenty of sliced pork, and equal measures of the beans and rabe. As the icing on the cake, a couple strips of chicharron(that’s what they looked like) anchor a miniature Italian flag in place. What’s the Italian name for chicharron? In any event, I didn’t bother to look at the«alternatives» section of the menu, because you better believe that my first time going to a place named Porketta… I’m ordering pork. Three sauces are available for the pork — a lightly herbal green sauce vaguely resembling chimichurri, a BBQ sauce, and a hot sauce that seemed to be a hybrid of an Italian tomato-based sauce with sriracha. That, of course, was my favorite, as it was packing some real heat. The other sauces are very good as well, though, and I used each drop of all three. I’d come back — $ 10 for this kind of platter with high-quality pork, you could do worse. The rabe was tasty, but I felt it was a bit too oily. I’d suggest scaling that back and letting more of the vegetable’s textural integrity come through.

Fantastic addition to the downtown area. Small store front with some cool modern tables outside. The owner Giuseppe who is from Italy, is such a nice guy. He has a fabulous personality from the moment you walk in he is behind the counter ready to help you. It was our first time there so he gave us a sample of the pork as my husband and him spoke in Italian. Hubby was thrilled when I told him they finally opened. He grew up eating this delicious pork. The menu like others have stated is very small, basically pork and salads. Very reasonably priced. Giuseppe suggested for me to try the three sliders called Timmy, Jimmy & Tommy. Hubby ordered the pork platter. We looked around his great selection of flavored olive oils in which his family owns in Italy. Some great gift giving ideas. The restaurant is super clean, spotless. Our food arrived and there was three sauces to choose from the siracha, verde, and bbq. Oh my how I adored the verde and siracha. The bbq sauce I was not a fan of at all. The pork is so tasty with great flavor and very moist. The bread was delicious as well. Hubby had the beans on his platter and I ate all of them. They were so good. Both of us so enjoyed our meal that we ordered three more sliders and a side of beans to take home. I could not get enough of these delightful pork sandwiches. The pork is very moist and flavorful and my only fear is that people will not appreciate the quality of this organic pork, yes Giuseppe said it was organic. I will visit and support this restaurant with hopes they are around for a very long time. Two days after we ate there my husband went there for lunch because he was thinking about how good it was two days prior. They also offer catering. Maybe in the future they might be able to add just a few more things to the menu just for a little more variety. He is also working on getting his beer and wine license. Excellent food and service with great prices, check this place out.

When a restaurant limits its menu to a central item, it’s pretty much a necessity that that one item be done to perfection at all times. Porketta is working that angle with their delicious porchetta offerings, and is a welcome addition to the burgeoning restaurant row that has become NE3rd Ave. They offer porchetta three ways — in a single sandwich, in 3 small sandwiches, and on a platter with broccoli rabe and white beans. For the non-pork-eaters of the world, they offer«alternatives» including a few tasty-sounding salads. I popped in for lunch on a recent weekday and opted for the 3 small sandwiches — the Timmy, Jimmy, Tommy, as they call it. Since they offer your choice of 3 different sauces — BBQ, piquante, or verde — I wanted the chance to try all 3. The sandwiches were delicious — the porchetta was moist and tender, the buns were the right amount of chewy, and the sauces were pretty tasty. My favorites were the piquante, which seemed to be just regular ol’ sriracha, and the verde, which was similar to a chimichurri. Service was very friendly, and my meal came out very quickly(guess it helps to have a limited menu). Prices are very reasonable — the porchetta offerings run from $ 8-$ 10. There a few bar seats inside, and about 4 tables outside, so don’t plan on coming with a large group.

This place may get tough competition, but I’m sure this place will also get some love. But they’ve really put themselves into a tough position. Why? Well, they have three main things offered in the menu with the others being«alternatives» being mostly salads(there’s also carpaccio). And what are those three things? Pork, obviously. But the problem is… they’re all the same kind of pork! So you’re basically coming over for one thing really — their one pork leg that is cooked in precisely one way — the Italian way. And they all come with one of the three sauces(get the verde«green» sauce, the parsley and oil mixture that is perfect for the tenderly cooked and seasoned pork). So I ordered the bombardino($ 8) which is just a sandwich made of italian bread and pork. No other extras besides three small pieces of pork skin that were not consistent(two were chewy and one was crispy) and few small pieces of «pickled cucumbers» which happened to be French cornichons. What were French cornichons doing in an Italian restaurant? I don’t know — but then again I’ve never been to an Italian deli that serves cornichons. And obviously they’re not that cheap either, at least for people accustomed to paying less for a pan con lechon which also sometimes come with crispy pork skins. It’s Miami. But to be fair, the pork did taste good, tender, and all. And the pork is claimed to be natural pork, raised outdoors and fed with a 100% vegetarian diet without hormones or antibiotics.

Porketta is a clean, brand-new restaurant with a short menu centered on the Italian porchetta roast(pronounced«porketta»). A porchetta is a rolled pork roast. In its original, rustic form it was based on a boned pig, but is now often a pork belly with a boneless pork loin inside. The skin on the pork belly(the cut that is cured to make bacon), becomes crispy, making slow-roasted chicharrones(crispy skin bits). I chose the three«slider» sandwich menu item called«Timmy, Jimmy, Tommy.» The little sandwiches of sliced porchetta were on very nice ciabatta rolls, and were packed in a to-go box with three cornichons(tiny French pickled gherkin cucumbers in brine) and several pieces of the crispy skin. I got the three little sandwiches so I could try the three sauces offered: Verde, picante and BBQ. The verde(green) was a parsley-based sauce, and was my favorite. It enhanced, rather than hid the pork. Second was the picante(hot) sauce. It tasted like a fairly ordinary bottled hot sauce. The BBQ tasted like KC Masterpiece regular BBQ sauce. Service was great and I loved the porchetta. I’m awarding five stars because they are the best around here at what they do. Where else can I find a porchetta shop? The menu is in the photos section. I noticed after I left that broccoli rape and cannellini are available a la carte, in addition to being included with the Don Pepe platter. I’m definitely going to try them next visit. Recommended to all non-porkaphobes!
