Closed? What? Miami, how did this happen? This is very disappointing to read. I really enjoyed LUNCH American Style. The name was kitschy, the menu was extremely innovative for Miami and it was a needed entrant in the Downtown food scene. Where else in Miami could you happen upon a restaurant that gave credence to the food traditions of the entire country? The N’Awlins was a spicy revelation. There was Texas Toast and BBQ as far as the eye could see. For goodness sake, they served Hot Browns. Hot Browns! Where, outside of Louisville, can you get a decent Hot Brown? Food traditions I’d barely heard of or forgotten were proudly displayed on the menu. Not only would you be fed, but you would be educated as well. The all-American theme extended to the sides(garlic potatoes), salads, drinks(Arnold Palmers and beer) and soundtrack. A lot of thought and effort went into creating a unique and focused dining experience. I thought this was one for the ages. In a city that’s often joked to not be part of the US, it was refreshing to patronize a restaurant that celebrated American tradition through food. Oh, did I mention the service was pleasant and doting? Ugh. Why is this no longer around? You will be missed, LUNCH.

They started cross promoting specials with the Filling Station which is a great move. I live the Speed Racer burger @ filling station and it was the lunch special today.

It’s not great… It’s EXCELLENT! The food is to die for. The place has great ambiance. The most important thing in a restaurant it is the workforce. Here, you know that they all have each other’s back. You know that they like each other and you know that they are happy working here. It’s an excellent place to be. Congratulations and Cheers!!! P. S. The prices are also excellent.

This place is awesome and the staff are friendly! Have tried many items off the menu and can say that I’ve never had a bad meal. Soups are yummy. Pork chili is amazing. Try the wasabi soy dressing with your salad.

I love the vibe that the owners of Filling Station bring to a Resto. My boy Mikey tends bar there. Tell him you know Big Poppa and he might lean into the tap. They have a great Friday happy hour. If you come with four or more people the first round is free. Do you really need to know anything else? If you do, let me tell you the food doesn’t suck. Get the chili! I’m coming to American style and it feels good!

I don’t know if I just have bad luck or just a general misfortune with LUNCH, but I can’t really help but tell the truth. I’ve had quite a few below par experiences here and frankly, I can’t think it’s just me. I happened upon LUNCH the week they opened because I work across the street. Bingo! New place, new food, new twist, what could go wrong? The location used to be an Italian place, now it’s new ownership and a new menu. What more can I ask for? Well, lots quite frankly. The first visit was ok, nothing too special. I chalked it up to the«new restaurant hassles» that all restaurants go through. It happens. You(the restaurant) orders supplies from your vendor and since you are just establishing yourself, you get shortchanged and have to 86 some menu items. Ok, fine. I can come back when the dust settles, right? And that’s what I did. Next month, I came back… same issues… slow service… missing menu items(due to «we ran out of XYZ»)… Next month? Ok, let’s try it again! Missing menu items still? Service still slow? …and now your menus ummm… have flavor(in the literal sense)… hmmm… For the most part, the food is ok. The marble rye bread is pretty much the only bread that has flavor. I recognize that there is a garlic bread, but quite frankly, it tastes just like white bread without garlic. I’m not much of a white bread person so I avoid them. The sub-style sandwiches are essentially open faced sandwiches; if you try to eat the bread you’ll just fill up. The Iowa Fritters are pretty good, but the wings leave a lot to desire. The beer selection looks solid, but I’ve yet to have any because alcohol and my work schedule don’t quite mix. Will I be back? I don’t know. I’ve been here about 5 times overall and it really hasn’t impressed me. Bottom Line: LUNCH«almost» American Style

Great place! Came here for an unofficial Unilocal event at lunch time. Got to meet some Unilocalers that I’ve only ever interacted with on-line which was cool and a big thank you goes out to Eve for setting this up! Now let’s get to the food because it was GREAT! The menu had so many things on it I wanted to try so we shared a bit at the table, which is a great idea by the way! The owner came out and showed the Unilocalers some love too. I had the Sheboygan, not the town in Michigan but the sandwich of almost the same size but surely a heck of a lot more tasty. Slow pulled pork, spiced nicely, with cheese and resting between two slices of thick home baked cheesy garlic bread. This came with a side and I picked the potato corn chowder which was also wonderful! I had this meal on Friday and by Sunday I was finally hungry again! The only complaint I had was that the sandwich was placed in a basket on some kind of wax paper that I think I ate, oh well I guess that tasted great too! I will definitely hit this fine establishment again when I’m in the Government Center area of MIA.

This is the folks who do Filling Station and Reggae Taco — both which give me foodgasms — so what can I say? Lunch American style is slightly eclipsed by her two siblings(well, Reggae Taco’s is currently dead — RESSURECTPLEASE!) but I guess when it comes to sandwichy grub I like burgers and tacos(and there are indeed burgers on Lunch’s menu). I ordered the Louisville styled sammie(turkey, tomato, candied bacon bits and mornay sauce) which was tasty — but a tad dry… even with the fresh tomatoes and the sublime mornay — still tasty. The macaroni and cheese size coulda been prepared by Ina Garten — it was soooo Gourmet in my mind. Companions’ dishes seemed to come with power packed punches of flava’ — I liked Gina’s chili(albeit I’m a chili with beans kinda guy) and her potato chips topped with pulled pork and blue cheese is the stuff hunger strike victims dream of, I’m sure! Another pal’s potato chips that had a «mariquita» style mojo with garlic was also a winner and from what I could tell of other people at the table’s delights — well I’ll be back to try ‘em! You have another winner ladies and gents of the Filling Station Family but did I mention, ya’ need to reopen Reggae Taco’s… like yesterday?!

I’ve only had delivery from here so that’s all my review is based on; will have to stop in to see if the divey atmosphere adjusts/makes up for my food expectations. Ordered the«Passion BBQ Food Truck» Texas Brisket Platter. The cornbread was out of this world delicious. OUTOFTHISWORLD. The mac and cheese was good and a nicely sized portion. The brisket was just meh. Covered in grease, no sauce or jus, and a measly little four pieces that, once I removed the thick fat cap, looked like less than a kiddie portion.

This was my second time here. The first time I had the shrimp appetizer and the chips. I liked it. Went back today and had the wings naked with the sauce on the side. Since it’s the same owners as the Filing Station I thought that the wings would be the same. Sorry to say that it was not so and I was disappointed. Please change the wings to the same as the Filing Station! However, the service and the cookie brownie dessert were excellent! Next time I am going to order dessert first! :) The guy beside me had the brisket, which he said was excellent! Will be back to try«The Climax». :) Hoping to change my review to 5 stars when I go back! Oh, they deliver! Remember EATDESSERTFIRST! It’s delicious!

My wife and I tried this place for lunch today. I picked the Climax, Texas chicken sandwich. The thick piece of chicken breast was perfectly cooked, but it needed some salt and pepper. The sandwich is advertised as coming on cheesy garlic bread, but mine came on what looked exactly like a piece of focaccia. The focaccia was good, but it made the sandwich too thick for easy handling, and the bottom piece broke apart halfway thru. I think they’d be better off with a toasted Kaiser bun. I opted for the side salad, which was impressive for a side salad, with the Dijon vinaigrette. My wife picked the Chinese chicken salad, which was fresh and colorful. We both were underwhelmed by the salad dressings – if they had some better dressings, this place would get 4-stars from me. They also need a buffalo chicken sandwich, which is very American and featured prominently at The Filling Station. The place was clean, service was fast and friendly, and the pricing seems right. Overall, pretty good.

Same folks as Filling Station and Reggae Taco. Great Food! Since this particular spot is new on the block they are adjusting their menu. They are very open to recommendations and appreciate comments and suggestions. Great time to help cater a restaurant to your particular taste:)

From the owners of Filling Station and Reggae Tacos comes a new, lunch-only restaurant across NW1st Ave from the Government Center Metrorail Station and the Stephen P. Clark Building. There’s a big menu of creative versions of soups, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, grilled chicken and salads. See the above photos of the menu. Service with a smile was great, and the chef waved hello from the kitchen — he’s the food-brains behind Reggae Tacos and recognized me. I had their version of a Reuben — «The Big Apple» which had house-smoked pastrami on marble rye with creamy slaw, melted swiss cheese and horseradish mayo. My first thought when I saw it was, «What a mess.» My thought when I ate the last bite, «Messy but good!» I had a salad as the included side, and it was a solid bowl of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, onions and cucumbers. The iced tea they brought me was about 24 ounces, at least. I’m going back, and I recommend that you go, too!

Took our corporate run team there for our annual pre-race lunch, and we were very happy with this new addition to Downtown west lunch dining. The menu is very extensive and very reminiscent of the Filling Station, which is to be expected since the Filling Station owns this place too. Try it out!
