Great concept and good service and food. I went for Sunday brunch, and not only do they have bottomless champagne and mimosas, the food was excellent too. I had the lobster benedict and the lobster poutine which was to die for. I recommend this place to start out your Sunday Funday!!!

NOTFORLOCALS. Just go to Mignonette. The menu is lacking. The service is apropos to South Beach; aloof, lost, lacking in the English language. The food is fine, but on par with Mignonette. We had to wait for food and drinks longer than tolerable. They had no clue how to claim a Gilt voucher and told me the manager demanded a printed coupon before the finally accepted it.

GREATPLACETOEAT — — - IFYOULIKEROACHESWALKINGACROSSTHEBARWHEREYOUJUSTATEDINNER !! Oysters were good —(crazy overpriced 38.00 doz) The rest of out food was average at best. Nothing was seasoned, very bland. The potato gnocchi with oysters, had 2 oysters. Portion was very small, again not seasoned, completely bland. Salty dog basket looked really good, but onion rings were totally soggy, fish filet was beautiful fried golden brown, but was undercooked almost raw in the middle. Not seasoned either. Service was much slower than the roach. 40 minutes to get oysters. another 40 minutes for main dishes. And it was not crowed, maybe 15 other diners were there at the time. Drinks, such huge ice cubes, you might get 2 ounces of drink in each serving. They did offer us a 50% discount on meal. YIPPEE! COMPLETELYPRETENTIOUSSOUTHBEACHHYPE. — TOTALRIPOFF.

fantastic oysters, baskets, and cocktails! dressed or naked clams are a treat too and not too pricey either at a buck a piece. gnocchi with creamed leaks oysters and caviar is ridiculous. staff is present and fun. location is convenient with street parking or valet, walkable from most anywhere.

Super lovely place, first time great service, great food, great prices, and so close to the house. I want to be here all the time. Not to mention the great wine collection, and the great service from the beautiful bartender Jaime.

I had big expectations after all the buzz generated with the restaurant opening. We certainly need more great local chefs making a difference in Miami. I was disappointed. Service was terribly slow. The place was not even that packed and it took a very long time to get our drinks and placed our order. After the initial disappointment we only opted to shared the lobster roll everyone had been raving about. It was sort of soaked in butter and salty. I really wish DeRosa’s much success in this new venture and appreciate the concept — however, service needs to be ramped up, food needs a little bit of attention and the restaurant could also use dimmer lighting and better music to polish the atmosphere a bit — after all, the menu/prices are targeting an upscale clientele.

First of all let me start of with what a great staff they have. Danny was our waiter and he greeted us the moment with sat down and had a smile from ear to ear. He was very attentive. The restaurant is located in a great location providing Outside and indoor sitting. We ordered a clam chowder that was perfectly creamy and had a good amount of clam to enjoy with our soup. My husband and I ordered a warm buttery lobster roll. Every bite was a piece of heaven. Not to mention the waffle fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned to perfection. My husband always puts ketchup on his fries and this time around he said that it would lose the flavor of the fries. We are already talking about returning this week!

My boyfriend and I stopped by Izzys for a quick drink and oysters at the bar. Walking in, we were impressed by how cute and modern the space was. Despite the glitz, we unfortunately did not have a positive night. We ordered a half dozen oysters(chef’s choice), a beer and a glass of wine. It took — no joke — a solid 40 minutes before our oysters finally came. I’m not sure if they personally swam to Maine and dived for them but it was a ridiculous amount of time to wait for food that was — for all intents and purposes — already prepared. The bartender basically plopped them down, not explaining what oysters the chef actual chose. When asking for clarification, she said that she wasn’t sure. Reading some of the other reviews, it seems like the service here can be very inconsistent. I will not be coming back here and I wouldn’t recommend for any visitors to the area.

One of the best restaurants in South Beach, Miami. We came for Happy Hour which ran from 5 – 7. When we arrived, we were greeted by Aaron. His recommendations were 1& ½ dozen of oysters and the salmon fish appetizer paired with a rose. Everything went well all together. We also ordered the steak tartare, Florida Black Grouper, Lobster Tagliolini and the steak. It was amazing! The staff were all very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in the area.

What an excellent little seafood shop! We were greeted with a smile by the wonderful hostess, and our waiter, whose name I didn’t catch, was friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout the meal. We started with the chowder, which is less thick than a traditional new england chowdah, but has excellent flavor and whole clams. Then there were the onion rings, which are breaded in more of a tempura style than traditional breading, but were also very good. Then the lobster poutine, which can hardly be called a poutine, with huge chunks of lobster and smothered in cheese. Finally, the warm lobster rolls were the perfect ending to our meal — warm and chunky and smothered in butter — and left no room for dessert. I would absolutely recommend each of those dishes. We had intended to return later in the afternoon for happy hour oysters, but were too food coma’d out from the decadent lunch, and napped right through it! We will have to come back another time to sample the happy hour menu :) PS did I mention the bottomless rose and sparkling rose? :D

The food is pretty good, the experience is inconsistent at best. In about two months, I’ve visited Izzie’s three or four times and every single time the Boston Cream Pie, for instance, was completely different. Today around lunch time there was no lobster. Kind of a big deal, if half of your menu calls for this ingredient. Basically every single time I come here, there would be some kind of surprise(not of a good kind). This is not something I want to deal with, when I go out with friends or family. Same level of inconsistency with staff — everyone is very cheery, but half the people obviously have no idea what they are doing. One time I was there, I got served an espresso in a mug(!). With a spoon sticking out from it and lipstick stains still on the rim. Customers are paying good money and IMHO it’s unfair to try out some basic training on them. So, in the future, I’ll probably come for some oysters, if I’m in the area, but after so many attempts, I simply can not treat this establishment as a serious restaurant.

Izzy’s, I wanted to like you I desired to love you and after all the review and nominations I was waiting for you to deliver one of my best seafood meals in Miami and that simply didn’t happen :-(. I looked for places for the last few days do have a nice meal as I didn’t want to dirty my kitchen before family arriving on Christmas Day. I had an opportunity to use the booking website(Um Unilocal seat me!) and booked it for 6pm then because it gave me the chance changed it to 7:30 around 1pm the next day. I got a call saying hope you’re okay with bar seating. My husband and I argued that we were paying full price pre fixe(150 per couple) they said they’d try to accommodate us by 8. Came in at 730 and they sat us on uncomfortable corner seat, but after I complained promptly offered seat by bathroom or close to front of restaurant, I asked for front. They gave us two glasses of champagne on the house which I appreciated. Crab with Lemon, tasty but small portion Oysters, clam and mussel bruschetta fresh . Then they brought out soup cold. Then pasta as well. Took back soup pasta served in same dish, kinda just ok, everything under salted and under seasoned. We then had the pampano Chisholm, crispy cooked well no flavor. Also I should mention they never gave us any sides. No parker rolls no roasted vegetables, we didn’t realize until it was over but it wasn’t good anyway so why wait for more not good items to come out? Lemon tart was the best item, meringue was not very attractive on top. We were happy we didn’t do wine pairing because food was so Unsatisfactory. When there is fish called Avalon, places like truluck’s or river oyster or midtown oyster why would we come here? Overpriced, small under seasoned portions, unmemorable our highlight was awesome people we met to the right of us, super cool, and one of them had been here before and didn’t even remember, he said, must be unmemorable. And I agree. Sorry. Izzy’s I wanted to love you. But don’t.

Went for happy hour, which runs 5 to 7 every day. The draw was the prospect of oysters, and Izzy’s delivered. We ordered a dozen and the deal was half off at the bar. We received six varieties of oyster, each fantastic. They were well shucked with not bits of shell to take away from the oyster bliss. Also had a glass of the $ 6 house red– fantastic. The staff were very friendly and professional. I liked that the manager had a book on winter cocktails he was reading during the slow time we were there. Ambience is a very nice balance, especially for SB. Clean and elegant, but not veering into intimidation.

Izzy’s is a cute oyster bar & restaurant. We went on a Saturday night, and since we didn’t have reservations, they didn’t make us feel bad about it by being snobby, but they seated us outside instead. The indoor seating looked very charming, but outside sidewalk tables was OK too since the weather was nice. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgable about the wines. We actually didn’t eat much, we only ordered half dozen chef’s oysters. It was the freshest oysters I’ve had in a long while. In the midwest, it’s difficult to find such fresh seafood. 2 drinks and 6 oysters automatic 18% gratuities equaled $ 60. Very spendy for a very small meal. The service was very attentive at first, but towards the end of the evening the staff seemed to have forgotten about us, as it appeared they were busy catering to a large group inside. We actually could have easily walked away without paying and they probably wouldn’t have noticed! lol.

Don’t miss the great oysters. The boisterous wait staff is a bit of a hoot, too. Lobster roll(served hot or cold) pleased, as did a nice cod in broth, and Izzy’s has a nice wine selection, including great whites by the glass. A crab cake at a neighboring table looked so good I was tempted to reach over a put and put a fork in, too.(I didn’t) Only nit: perhaps a little too much melted cheese where I wouldn’t expect it. Overall, Izzy’s has a casual, faux New England beachside vibe, fresh seafood, and is likely the best quality restaurant currently open on this little stretch of Washington Avenue. Bar seating may be as good as tables too-maybe more fun, as it is near the oyster shucker. Look forward to coming back.

Awesome little oyster bar off of Washington. We made a reservation but ended up coming early for the happy hour(half off oysters) and sitting outside. We ended up ordering 4 dozen oysters for 6 of us and then ordering more food(salmon crudo and ceviche). Everything was super tasty. And as the waiter told us, they don’t wash the ocean off of their food. After that barrage of food, we ordered more food. The hot lobster roll was recommended and definitely worth it. I definitely agree it’s Much better than the cold version. My only gripe was that the sandwich itself was not hot but more really warm and I could see how the lobster and sauce would have gelled better if it was 10 degrees warmer. I suspect that this happened because they brought out one of our oysters a little late. Our group also ordered the grouper which looked really tasty as well. They were very accommodating as well as one of our party was vegetarian and made some special pasta for him. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was fantastic and knew every ingredient that goes into the food which was great for us. He also made some great recos for us. I’d rate him 5 stars but 4 stars overall to the restaurant. Best meal so far on this trip

We came here with a group of 5 friends for happy hour oysters and dinner. When we arrived at 6:15, there was almost no one there but by the time 6:45 rolled around and our first two dozen oysters were devoured, the places where the happy hour is served were full — outdoors and bar seating. The oysters were fresh and tasty. The chef opted for 3 varieties tonight, unusual for half off specials which in my experience is usually just one kind of oyster. The salmon crudo was also quite yummy. The ceviche is just ok, a bit too acidic for my taste. Our server was really great. His suggestions were spot on and he had a big personality. We ended up having 4 dozen oysters, 2 salmon crudos, and a ceviche before dinner. For dinner, we shared warm lobster rolls. There was a slight hiccup with the chef forgetting about our 4th dozen oysters so that took longer than we would have liked. As a result, our hot lobster rolls ended up becoming cool lobster on top and lukewarm bread full of butter. The lobster poutine was also pretty good but again not as warm as I would have liked. They also served us a free piece of Boston cream pie for my friends birthday. That was really sweet of them. This is a great find! Especially if you like seafood and if you like raw oysters, come get happy hour specials. It’s a great value.

This was an incredible disappointment. I took my daughter here for Sunday dinner and everything was wrong. From the food quality to the service — it was simply sub par. There were three other parties when we walked in yet it took FOREVER to have our order served. I had to follow up on the appetizer only to be told that the«chef was trying to figure out what he was serving»(we ordered vegetable crudités). The oysters were good but came quickly. A second plate of them took almost an hour to come. Then dinner FINALLY came. I have had steak on an airplane that was more palatable. My 6 year old asked me what kind of meat that was when it was placed between us. The portion was minuscule(maybe half the size of the palm of my hand) and it was tougher than shoe leather. Fries were supposed to be served with the steak /we were told they ran out so it was switched to «seasoned fries». What was on the plate was frozen battered waffle fries. We ordered dessert and the check and then waited another 30 minutes. The lemon meringue pie came out with a broken crust, flopped on the plate with this bizarre line of meringue that missed the pie. The check was wrong and it was quite expensive for the poor service and poor food quality. Maybe this place is ok to sit at the bar for some oysters but as a proper restaurant, I would not go back nor recommend it.

Amazing food and drinks. Sat at the bar and was given special drinks designed by Maxwell. He made our first night in Miami unforgettable. The shell fish was unbelievable. Muscles were our favorite. For desert we had delicious lemon meringue pie.

Great to get another smaller scale, neighborhood-feel restaurant with great food and service. Incredibly fresh oysters. But I’d go back just for the shaved snap peas salad. Wow. Clean, yet full of flavor from the peas, lemony dressing, and light but prefect touch of cheese. Drinks? Maxwell is great. Let him experiment on you. This will definitely be one of spots as a regular.
