I first came here was many years ago when they first opened… I had a Cobb salad it was pretty good, maybe worth four stars. Fast forward to four years ago… I had a fish wrap that I don’t currently see on the menu. It was pretty bad, maybe two stars at best. After this experience my wife and I kinda wrote this place off. We recently moved to Wantagh, which brings us closer to the Pit Stop than we have ever lived… We passed the place day after day wondering if we would ever give them another shot… Eventually we caved, we ordered the teriyaki salmon salad and the chicken and waffles. My teriyaki salmon salad was great! So this made up for some bad food in the past. Next time I get the salad again and it’s still good. My wife orders the fried shrimp and is totally let down! $ 11.20 for 5 fried shrimp and nothing else! No fries, no slaw, no good! Total rip off! So they do one dish well, that is not enough!

We had lunch yesterday. Scallop and shrimp salad with citrus fruit was delicious. My son loved his hamburger and my daughter really enjoyed her chili and couldn’t even finish her chicken and avocado wrap. I would suggest that the 6 or 7 times we have eaten here u really enjoyed the food and it was always fresh.

Every item I’ve ever ordered here is delicious. Owner Tony is very friendly and welcoming. Love when they have the lobster special during the summertime.

Visit Date: December 4, 2015 I wanted to try this place and I had my opportunity on December 4 when I had to stop by some place for dinner on the way back to my town to meet my friend for the Old Fashioned Babylon Village Christmas. I had told her the restaurants in the village were probably going to be way too crowded to eat in because of this event and it was better if we got food on our own before meeting at the event. I had the quinoa burger and cheese fries. The burger was excellent made of quionoa and various grains topped with avocado the burger had a fresh, healthy taste to it. The cheese fries were delightfully sinful yet very simple. They used a soft squeezy type cheese that sometimes comes with movie theatre nachos but the restaurant’s version was a little bit above movie theatre nacho cheese. Combined with ketchup and armed with a tiny wooden almost fork I gobbled the cheese fries up like no tomorrow. There’s also some healthy fare available here as well(I’m afraid I’m going to have to sample that if I go again because my new nutritionist isn’t going to let me eat crap every day like I’m accustomed to doing). The atmosphere is road stop divey but clean enough to eat your meal inside if you wish. The staff was really nice. They let me keep my drink at the counter while I went to the bathroom when my dinner was still being prepared. Definitely a fan and if I have a chance to eat here again I will.

GREAT sole and Mahi sandwiches! Brisket very tender and delicious! Would definitely come back. Creamed spinach was great! The only negative is the refillable catsup bottles… use Heinz!

Well last night, we had them cater our Thanksgiving dinner. We ordered turkey(for 12), stuffing, gravy, creamed spinach, roasted potatoes, potato leek soup. Everything was amazing! We started with the soup. They gave us 2 qts. Everybody loved it. I think if we had a gallon my guests would have finished that too. The turkey came pre-carved. I was worried that it would dried out but the meat was nice and moist. The stuffing, gravy, and veggies a perfect addition to an incredible meal. We have done this before and will continue for years to come. It gives us more time with family and friends. There was no hassle having to worry about anything. To Tony and his staff: THANKYOUFORMAKINGOURTHANKSGIVINGSIMPLEANDDELICIOUS. I highly recommend it

I have been coming to this place ever since I saw them on Guy’s show! It never dissapoints me. Their Brisket sandwich is tender and juicy with just the right amount of gravy and oniins! The Skirt steak sandwich is the bomb! At $ 1050 it is so worth it. Succulent the medium skirt steak with provolone is to die for. The other top sandwich is the Cuban, with fresh slow cooked pork, ham and swiss. Will never compare to one from Miami but it’s a close 2nd! Their soups are always fresh. Have salads, panninis, wraps, burgers and hot dogs. Their is something for everyone. It is a small busy place, make sure to visit if you are on Long Island

I was driving home from the airport and wanted a quick lunch so I came here and the food was so good! They have a large variety from salads and soups to burgers, paininis and wraps. I had a grilled chicken wrap and it was one of the best things I ate all week. The service was super quick and the food was really fresh. The only down side is that it was a bit pricey.

Ordered the chicken avocado wrap and it was okay. There was too much lettuce and very little avocado and chicken in the wrap which is not what I was expecting. The taste was okay, but definitely could be better for the price. Went in for lunch at 230pm and the place was pretty empty. During lunch they serve fries or soup and soda with the wraps which is nice. If it weren’t for that I would have given this place 2 stars.

A great place to eat if you need a quick bite but don’t want fast food. Their menu has burgers, wraps, paninis, soups, ribs and more. Everything is fresh and flavorful, even their French fries are made in house! Real friendly staff, to top it off! I don’t understand all of the negative reviews. Been coming here for years and I’ve never had a bad experience.

PITT stop has been a Merrick staple for years. My kids LOVED it throughout their childhoods. Now that they are older, they don’t seek it out as much. This is good for a quick bite once in a while.

It’s okay !! Nothing special. Have eaten here over the years, hadn’t been here in a while and decided on the all the way burger. Sloppy burger… 2 premed patties, bacon lettuce sauce. In the end it was a little over 7 dollars. Okay if you want that. But, I would pay a little more to get a quality piece of meat. I must admit, I am intrigued by the spaghetti squash primavera and will stop in again to try

Best burgers we’ve ever had! They have a great variety to choose from. I had the turkey burger, and my husband the double cheeseburger, and we shared the best one, the shrimp burger. I’ll be back to have that one again!

Decent food but I think it was just a tad overpriced for what it was. My wife and I went here because they were featured on Triple D a few years ago. All in all the food was decent but nothing special. The service was really good though for the type of place it was. Because of the slightly higher price I don’t think I would go back again. It’s not super expensive but it’s just a few dollars more than I think it should have been.

Despite all the negative reviews… I came, I saw, I conquered & I liked it! Yes, the décor is nothing special, and from the outside it looks like an old Carvel but I put all that aside once I had my first bite of my hot & juicy burger accompanied by some amazing fresh cut homemade French fries! Pretty extensive menu options that all looked pretty good. I will be back to try other items!

As a Bellmore resident, I’ve been coming here for years. However, the last 3 visits have been very disappointing. The food doesn’t have that«home cooked» taste anymore especially their soups. I took out a chicken gumbo last night, opened it up and it was loaded with hot dogs! That’s not authentic! Who puts hot dogs in their gumbo? The base was a tasteless tomato soup, no carrots, okra, onion, nothing! My boyfriend said that he was so disappointed the last few times that we were there, that he didn’t even bother to order anything but the soup for me. Not worth the drive from Bellmore, for us anyway.

Um. There’s a lot of hostility in these reviews and I don’t understand it. Like, at all. We started coming here to grab take out lunch a few months ago and seriously, the whole office was like WHAT took us so long? The food is really, really good. It’s fresh and different and not your typical Boar’s Head deli wrap that you can get at every single deli on the entire island. Really, is that what all you want from your lunch, day in and day out? Sheep. Eat an avocado for crying out loud. Who’s hostile now, right? The wrap combo is a great deal because the wrap is enormous and the fries are SOOO good. I’m pretty sure they cut them in house from real potatoes so maybe that’s another problem when people are used to crappy fast food fries? I really don’t know. I love Pit Stop’s fries. I could eat way too many of them. In my car. On the way back to the office. Oink. The two soups I’ve tried have also been on point. The Clam Chowder is thinner than chowders I’m used to, but I loved the flavor and appreciated that the consistency wasn’t heavy. The chicken & rice soup was totally outstanding and the next time I’m sick, I want a gallon of it, please. So I’ve had wraps, fries, soup and a seriously delicious Cape Cod Salad and everything has been killer. The Crispy chicken wrap was probably my favorite but I feel guilty and filthy even writing that because there’s not a single healthy thing about it but omggggggg it’s soooooo good! The food is fresh, you can tell they put THOUGHT into it and care about the creativity of the food and the different flavor profiles and aren’t just about throwing a dried out chicken cutlet on a roll and calling it lunch. And the owner(I assume) who is always there when I pick up is a riot and we always have a laugh. It’s nice to come for lunch someplace where you’re greeted with a smile & they remember you & are glad you came back instead of some kid behind a counter at a deli barking«what else?». Pit Stop… I’m a big fan.

I’ve been here many times and I must say that I haven’t tried the whole menu or anything close because I am so in love with the few items that I did try. So yes, it’s a pretty limited review since I just keep ordering the same thing(creature of habit? or are they just THAT good)? Anyway, first let’s talk food: I am NOT a wrap person under any circumstance(really never order) and I am totally a spaghetti squash or vegetarian sandwich kind of person. HANDSDOWN best item on the menu is the BUFFALOCHICKENWRAP. It amazed me to no end and became something of an slight addiction. To this day I cannot drive down sunrise highway and pass this place without getting the buffalo chicken wrap… if not for me, then for my cousins that live nearby(in case I’m full). It’s like a gift. Does it taste like really bad junk food that might clog and artery, yes. And that is the void that it fills… it’s for when you want to be gluttonous.(Might I add that I do not eat wings… I just love their buffalo sauce, a lot!) So the wrap is the perfect mix of well crisped chicken in loads of sauce and gorgeous chunks of blue cheese. The veggies are nothing short of fresh. This wrap has made me question how you can possibley get the chicken to stay so satisfyingly crispy in so much sauce. So satisfying that you need nothing more. I did try the portabello chicken sandwich which was good, but not spectacular. I also tried the salads — they are generous and always fresh. Fries are normal. Oh and the spaghetti squash primavera is absolutely delish! It always pleases me to see spaghetti squash outside of my home on a menu. The place is a bit run down and divey… and you don’t expect to get anything good out of it but the veggies are fresh, the food is satisfying and you know it’s made fresh right there. Don’t got for the ambiance, go for something better than average fast food. Be prepare to wait a bit, the service is somewhat slow. I’ve been going here way before they were triple D and I think that show just created expectations for a fast food spot that’s a little better than fast food. I also think that food quality and service got a little worse after that show… but that buffalo chicken wrap… mmmm…

Once again, Guy Fieri messing me up with his TV voodoo. And WTF is this place anyway? Its decorated from the 60’s, its more of a deserted hamburger place and they just bolted up a new Pit Stop sign. Cuban Sandwich? Really? Yuckkk. First things first. A Cuban Sandwich has PORK! Guy, what the heck made you stop at this place is beyond me. It’s not a Diner. It’s not a Drive in. Is this a Dive? Hell no. It’s an over priced, fried food place that somehow made it on TV. Review is now over. I’ll pass on this pit stop thankyouverymuch
