The prices have risen noticeably in recent years and the quality has not gotten any better, and in some cases, has gone down. Nevertheless, I gave three stars because the company that runs the cafeteria, Epicurean, is probably doing the best they can under these tough circumstances. I doubt that SLAC management is subsidizing the cafeteria at anywhere near the levels they use to, if at all. I am aware that the price of food has been, and continues to go up, and that has to get passed on to the customer. However, being charged for«to-go» containers adds insult to injury, expecially when the justificaion is «trying to reduce waste». The cafeteria staff has been noticeably cut back and this is showing in regards to the quality and types of food offered and in the quality of service. One more thing: I miss the«SLAC» burger.

It’s not a café, it’s a cafeteria. It’s food is so-so. A few things are alright, but fairly expensive for cafeteria food. The sandwich line is super slow as is the salad line. The best thing is the pozole which is served on Wednesdays. The cafeteria is located at SLAC, which means you have to have official business there to get in.
